UA Mystery Thread 3: The Canonn

The video is quite convincing and it's not the only account, I think there have been at least 3 different people report cases where UAs have not pointed at Merope. So it's evidence. The question is whether or not it's relevant evidence.

Hey, wait! What vid? Can you help a newcomer out? :D Only found two posts from people who themselves considered a glitch quite possible, guess I'm missing something...

Technical Trouble in the Warkushanui System
Reports coming in from the Warkushanui system indicate that a number of starports in the region are currently experiencing technical issues. According to Sam Norris, a technician at Coats Hub, the system's inhabitants are dealing with a range of problems:

"We've had power outages, intermittent problems with our communications, and issues with the docking systems, but I've reason to believe that things are worse at Gurragchaa Gateway. I haven't been able to establish a stable comms link with them for a while, though, so I don't know exactly what the situation is."

Norris was asked what he thought might be causing the problems:

"Beats the hell out of me. The generators are fine and I haven't identified any infrastructure issues, so we'll need to run some tests before we can be sure."

The issues in Warkushanui are not believed to be affecting station services at this time.

Worth someone having a look at the local conditions?

To the Canonnmobile....

This is interesting. Has anyone been selling AI Relics or UAs here? I'll head over there later today and check the local *SS. I remember the developers mentioning NPC dialogue can provide storyline clues so I'm going to check USS and SSS preferentially.
My first impression is that this sounds more like a consequence of something that has happened recently, rather than being an additional clue to the UA mystery, though. It would not do to become sidetracked from the main investigation... .

If Thargoids are involved, and history has anything to do with it, then the INRA, the search for Raxxla, and incidents like these (including SS1's supposed demise) are probably linked, but not enough to form a single trail. I wonder if they lead in similar directions and will eventually meet.

The description of what happened to the SS1 escort is very much like how forced misjumps felt like way back when...

Nope,, A pen and paper !!! All you needed was a piece of graph paper. MJK went back to basics and pulled off a doozy :)

The thing I haven't quite understood in all this is, was the UA doing this all along even in 1.3 and nobody figured it out until now, or did what it was transmitting change in 1.4?

In 1.3 the UA was sending the name of the nearest body (natural or artificial) in Morse. That it's transmitting a drawing of the observing ship is 1.4 behaviour, therefore new.

I've just gotten off my butt and headed over to Gurragchaa Gateway aannnnnnnndddd nothing......no problems there that were stated in the article.......I may check out the other place if someone hasn't already?

errr...

The issues in Warkushanui are not believed to be affecting station services at this time.

So, docking at the station you would not see anything... Have you checked out SSS and USS in the system?

Picked up a UA last night in the Paladies sector. :D

I was also around Merope and followed the medical transport wing for a while.. It was carrying something interesting if the comms messages were anything to go by. After a cargo scan I noticed it had some scientific research on board, progenitor cells and some occupied escape pods. I didn't have any hatch breakers at the time and was unable to get its cargo before the ship exploded. I'm wondering if anyone has picked up its cargo yet? Gonna have another crack when I get hatch breakers sorted.

After UA 'Herbert' was left with Jaques and following advice from Mr D, I left UA 'Howard' with a nice chap from Freedom of Ngobe, and went to Merope with UA 'Hilda'
The odd thing is that I was certain I had already scanned every body in Merope, but on arrival, only the main star was in my DB, everything else appeared 'unscanned'
Scanned everything, and did some test deployments at various places around the system, and the UA did almost always orientate to the centre of the star.
The only time it did not immediately was when I bumped into it, but did after I locked on target.
UA 'Hilda' and me are now back at Jaques in Gliese
Got scanned on the way in and a 165,000 credit fine.
Did get promoted to Ranger though.

Well it made it sound like the problems were at the stations not in the system it'self and also it said that they couldn't get a stable coms connection with them so I just went and checked it out, but as rizal has said from his invesigations I'll probably need to suit up for combat which I'd rather slowly work into than quickly.

There is an organised meet (Player CG) arranged for this weekend to do just that

I have done a full DSS of Merope 3 times now, and it keeps getting reset to my knowledge pre 1.4 (Main Star and Asteroids only). Have reported it as a bug
