the screenshot is new to me,
and is thrilling because we see for the first time the spacestation entrance...

but why is it in Blackandwhite ?
o_O

Perhaps it's black and white to avoid showing us something they have done with the colour of the HUD?

Pimp my Panther? Mind you, a spoiler on one of those, when you come in to dock, would be like dragnet fishing for Sidewinders! ;)

Great pic. I didn't think we would see into the docking area during approach. I figured there would be an airlock type thing like FE2 and Elite Plus had.

Crime Scanner? Cool! Do you park near stations and wait for it to start beeping? "Look! There's some crime!"

The pirates will need something to counter it tho. Maybe a Narc Scanner?:D

Well, at this point docking in traditional quadrilateral is just first part of it. You have to land it on designated platform too *inside* space station ;)

I'm looking forward to landing in the docking bays. I'm worried though about the day when I'm standing next to my ship, trying to talk a high class passenger into boarding my dingy vessel, when suddenly a crazed PC smashes his ship across three landing platforms, scaring off a potential client!

Those poor NPCs have no clue what's about to be unleashed upon them in the years to come.

Do you have to land it manually or is it automatic?

I remember in the first Elite I found it difficult to manual docking the thing until I'd earned enough to afford a docking computer.

You had to spin your ship at exactly the same rate the station was spinning or you crashed and died. (They dropped that in Elite II, thank goodness).

Don't want none of that!

You will have stations with possible automatic landing, and stations with manual only. However you will have docking computer right after start.

Docking will consists from two parts as I said. In space station you will be guided by station for rotating compensation, however you will be able to turn it off, if you want a challenge.

I think the idea that there is no docking computer at all anymore, it's all station controlled. Perhaps not, perhaps there is a docking computer that the station links with to take control of your ship.. :S

There was a docking computer last time I looked, but it was intentionally slower than someone half decent at manual docking. And manual docking won't be that hard - you'll be able to do it first time if you take your time.

No! Docking with FA off is the only way..

You're right!
To be able to use automated docking the player’s ship must have a docking computer module installed and powered
These are expensive and take up space
Malfunctions can disable the module preventing its use
