No bug my friend ive been on at the devs for a while about this there answer was " due to alot of Complaints and crashes it was decided to keep the locks on until the release function is applied...this will now be the new launch from now on it will not change :(

How old is that quote? - only it was acknowledged as being under investigation on 7th October ...

Dont they have testers? Releasing a fix based on speculation? Shoddy

Usually speculative fix means that they have been unable to recreate the problem internally and therefore they cannot properly test the fix. Not sure i this situation as I haven't done any mining recently so I don't know the details of this bug.
 
Oh, dear.

Just had a crash to the blue screen of death. Not had one of those for months. I was just scanning an object in supercruise - not doing anything unusual.
 
Thanks god that i am on a explorer trip for the last weeks. I guess i will come back when these bugs finally fixed! It's a shame what FD deliver. Another patch and even more bugs!
Maybe i should ask for an refund cause the game is almost unplayable for me now!

At least the patch has caused the script kiddy 'hackers' tool to break and they have to wait for another update for it.

I'd like if FD just increments the versioning in their client each time the script is updated - even if no code changes are made, just to break their scripting hacks. That way the hackers can't play. Kinda like when PS3 was hacked - Sony knew each and every Firmware update would get cracked in hours, but they still just kept rebuilding the FW each and every week until the PS4 was released to make it a PIA for the hackers as they had to rebuild their packages each and every time with every update Sony pushed out.

What about Conflict Zones breaking if a few players are in them? You're pushing CZ CGs hard right now. Yet when we do them in open, we're looking at empty CZs.

I would really hate to be a part of the development team at Frontier.

Any amount of work they do is taken so poorly by so many players.

Taken so poorly without any insight to the inner machinations of the team and the engine lol

I don't have a problem with people saying stuff is broke/not working etc., and it's sometimes hard to read intent from a post - that said some of it sounds like something my 5 year old comes out with.

Edit: Actually that's a bit unfair on my 5 year old.

Only someone who was not an explorer would assume that being an explorer for the last few weeks was problem free. It was so bad that at one stage FD told us to stop exploring.
 
I can see both sides and there is an impression, from the forums, that the game is self-destructing. When I play though, it's fun. There's a disconnect somewhere.

I put gear down and all my thursters work great I take off on thursters as well up left and right ?

The dev team have got in touch this morning with some answers to the questions on the thread.

- Supercruise frame rate dropping – This is still being investigated
- Stuck in hyperspace – There are known issues with hyperspace that we're looking into. However, if you might need to submit a bug report for your specific issues
- NPC AI – The team will be looking into this for 1.5
- SMAA – Will be looked into for 1.5
- Long range smuggling missions – These have been balanced so that they are not so common, these may be adjust further as necessary
- Medium hardpoint problem on the assault ship - This is a known issue and one that we're working on
- Repair all 10cr issue – Also a known issue
- Disconnects while mining - This should be fixed in this update. If after the update you're still having issues, submit a bug report and we'll look into it. :)

Other information for you all.

Why is the patch small?

The patch itself is only a minor one for a few reasons. The first is because of the stress test we've found and fixed a lot of potential issues early. We're also focusing on Horizons at the moment and finally because we’re focusing on improving the process in which we update these bugs. Allowing for more detailed investigation to avoid fixes which then cause knock on bugs.

Interdictions - What changes are being made?

After listening to player feedback the Devs have made the interdictions slightly easier. These were mentioned in last week's Dev Update. :)

1st discoveries saying "Validating"

This is a known issue for 1st discoveries by Xbox players. The name is being recorded and the team are working on resolving the displaying issue

What is the new mission templates?

New Mission Templates is confirmation of the earlier server side change to make Long Range Smuggling missions rarer – Sandy’s post here :- https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=193353. This is something we’re balancing continuously.

What are the rank changes mentioned in the patch note?

The Rank for the Federal Assault Ship is 5 and the Federal Gunship is 7

What is the speculative fix for mining hopper?

This is to address disconnection issues.

Far be it for me to question how Frontier do things, but I have to question how Frontier are doing things.
I'm no software developer but I have done programming for people in my time and even I can see this is not the right way to do things.

I can understand that 1.5/Horizons is the focus now but you cannot let that take the focus of critical gameplay issues today. Do you really want or need people being pee'd off and complaining from now until 1.5 and then beyond that because a supposed fix wasn't done properly ?
Far better to get things fixed now (or soon) so they can be tested out during the rest of 1.4 and then when 1.5 comes out you know they will no longer be issues.
I'm referring to things like the NPC AI and SMAA issues which are slated for 1.5. I find this totally bewildering.
The AI in Res Zones are really poor now. If you approach from behind and open fire, more often than not, the ship will just sit there rolling from side to side until you stop firing or it's shields go down. Even then there is no guarantee it will move. So you just come to a stop and fire until you destroy it, Elite Anaconda or not. Also their ability to smack into asteroids is like they never made it out of pilot training. I have videos of both of these issues.
One time I was firing on a ship when it collided with another ship (clean) and thus my laser hit this clean ship just once and I got a 200cr bounty (can't we relax this so friendly fire doesn't give you a fine unless you fire 2 or more times on the vessel??). Not only that but that clean ship then ran off being chased by another pirate who then blew him up and it was ME who got the fine for the murder !! Now I'm Wanted there for the next 6 days. Great !

The SMAA issue is somethng else that needs sorting before 1.5. As with the NPC AI, you just can't keep people waiting until 1.5 to sort this out. The NPC AI diminishes gameplay and the SMAA an inconvenience but still....

On both of those issues it says "will be looked into for 1.5". That doesn't even mean fixed ! Honestly that's just not good enough.
What if you 'look into' these things, think you've sorted it, launch 1.5 and it's still broken or not right. Then you have more work to sort that out after 1.5.
You have much more chance of making 1.5 a great update if you fix the issues in 1.4 along the way.

Making interdictions 'slightly easier' is fine. But what about the repititions ? Hopefully something, like some different logic, can be applied there for 1.5

Lastly are the small things like the 10CR Repair bug (it IS a bug because the logic of it is flawed), the black text on the HUD, should all be sorted by now. Those are issues you can fix over a cup of coffee so why are they still there ?
Saying "it's a known issue" is nothing. We know it's known because we know it. That you know it tells us nothing about what's going to be done about it and when.

I really think Frontier should be more forthcoming and communicative with details. Also with all the mess that came with 1.4, the changlog which was originally posted here is a disappointment.

I'm not one to make posts of this nature but after seeing this response from the devs I felt I had to as I'm just not able to hide how disappointing this is that bugs we have now are not going to looked at until 1.5. I don't understand this way of doing things.
