Please help OCR does not appear to work in the tool. I have been waiting at 'processing please wait' for about 30 minutes

The OCR Process window is used, if OCR doesn't work, to see error messages coming from EliteOCR. To continue the OCR process, you have to close the window (as noted at the Option panel). Without closing, TCE is paused. I will add an additional note to the next release.

As I see on your screenshot, the process was done without any error ( note the "[======]"), you don't need the OCR Process window. Deactivate it at the Options panel and make a scan, as you did before.

Hi

Still having issues as the screenshots attest to. It still says progress paused in the top right when performing a scan. Also when I click on anything else at that time I get a debug message and have to log out again. I have attached where the screenshots.

Thanks for your screenshots. Did you using Windows 10?
If so, please check this post from LBITB here, it should fix the problem.
Added this problem to the FAQs.

Hi,

I love this program, makes trading a pleasure.

The first day I used it version 1.53 I had no problems what so ever. but the second day I got an error code 9, I looked at this forum and saw the 1.54 and the 1.54.2 update. So I thought I would update.

All seemed fine again but I am now getting error messages again. Would this be because I copied the database file over to the new one? or was I supposed to have used some sort of util?

Thanks for finding a bug, you can add stations only, if TCE detects you in space. As you see at the displays, TCE is not connected to ED. Please restart ED. Also, if an update of ED happens, please check at the FAQs, how to proceed.
DON'T copy only your old database into the new folder. TDM will do it for you and make it compatible with the actual version.

- Added a note to the Commodity panel, if the OCR Process window is shown.
- Fixed an issue at the Classic Main panel, to lock the database button, if TCE didn't find any position data (on "Waiting on Elite Dangerous" message)

Note:
This update didn't need any TDM usage for your database. Copy the content into your TCE folder to update your version.

Thanks you Eventure.

I also found out why I was getting the "current status" as "waiting for ED..."

I tried running the setup again and saw that the APPCONFIG install folder was using the "....\Elite Dangerous\Products\COMBAT_TUTORIAL_DEMO"

So I manually changed it to "...\Elite Dangerous\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-1010" and now it is detecting my position again.

While I am jumping from one system to another (it doesn't happen before this jump but that could just be a timing issue) I hear the error "ding" from Excel and the TCE Current Station remains unchanged upon entering the new system or station. This error happens after I have successfully scanned and saved commodities at the previous location without errors, and have also been using the Route Planner there which I have only just started using for my Lakon Type 7. Unfortunately, this gives you very little to go on. It may have something to do with me using the Route Planner though the Route Planner has always seemed to produce correct results.

The Excel error is 9 Subscript out of range:

If I click OK, TCE remains up and the Current Station now changes to my new location.

If I may make another suggestion, the new message "Close the OCR Process Window to Continue" when scanning does not make any sense since there is no Process Window open and I have never seen that window! I know you changed this message because a user saw the Process Window but you cannot close a window that is not open so the message is confusing! I think the original message you had was much preferable.

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Hello everybody and welcome to the next dev update of TCE.

As I review this project, I would say, it is almost feature complete. So there will be only updates on reported bugs in the future.

But the support from the community, I experienced, and many gamers, that can not use TCE, because of missing Office/Excel, drives me to convert TCE into a fully .NET application, away from using Excel/VBA as a requirement. I tested some functions and procedures on .NET and sometimes it is much easy with it, but others needs a new approach in case of coding.

But I think, I will bypass most obstacles and learn much in this process about .NET handling. I imagine a first beta version in some weeks. At the moment, I am converting all panels into .NET and the code of them will follow thereafter.

So wish me luck and don't stop in supporting me on the next step to make TCE even better for all players of Elite Dangerous.

The message "Close the OCR Process Window to Continue" should only come, when using the window. Will check, what happen here.
Your error above comes only, when you using a route, created by the finder/planner?

That message comes EVERY time I scan commodities.

Will test with and without using Route Planner later today.

As I check the code, your reported error can have to do with the new Star System Summary, which is updating on star system change. I added a better reporting of what line causes the error. Also fixed the wrongly displayed message on OCR. Releasing an update soon.

Fly back to Henry Vision and while I am jumping to the Herthans star system I hear the Excel "ding" and the Current Location fails to update. The Excel error is below. Upon clicking OK, TCE remains running and the Current Location updates to Herthans. Hope this helps you find the problem.

I got this error by just loading up TCE

I think, I have found the problem. It happens, if you have only one Stored Location inside the system. Releasing an update tomorrow.

I have 1 Stored Ship at Henry Vision in Herthans if that helps. That is the Star System where I get the error when jumping into it. Played ED for about an hour this evening, not going anywhere near Herthans and the error never recurred.

Eventure, I'm almost in tears and at the end of my rope. I cannot for the life of me figure out why I'm having such intermittent issues with TCE. I'm desperate for some help - when it works, it's absolutely invaluable to me - I practically refuse to play Elite without TCE. But I can never get it to "fully" work - it's always something. I had better results with the 1.53.2 version than today's new version, but the problems are similar across versions. Here's some of the things that keep happening:

When I try to place a window, sometimes it sticks and sometimes my screen goes all white, or mostly black with an echo of the overlay that I can't interact with. Once I use the Panels option to size the main panel, I can't interact with it anymore. I'm getting little "placeholder" white areas (sometimes BIG ones). The main overlay will work and then stop responding. I"ll click on Control, but when I move to a choice below it they disappear. Some panels show a huge black area with "ghosts" of the buttons that I can't interact with. I have run SFC /SCANNOW with no errors. I have even used DISM' online repair - no issues. I've removed Office 2013 and reinstalled (and fully patched). I've removed TCE and reinstalled (to Program Files (x86), and I've given full rights to the Everyone group for the TCM directory. I've turned on and off graphics acceleration in Excel. I've added the TCE directory structure to Norton's exceptions lists, and even uninstalled Norton. I've turned off Display Fusion. I've turned off the Logitech software for my headset and keyboard. I can't think of what else to try.

I'm running dual 960 FTW's in SLI and Surround mode (3 monitors). The driver is up to date. I'm running Windows 10 Pro, fully patched. I use the Saitek x52. I am totally at my wits end trying to figure out what I could possibly be doing wrong. PLEASE help - this is too good an addon for me to give up on, and since I don't see anyone else complaining of the same issue it's GOT to be something I'm missing.
