Who is saying open isn't any harder? They are just ----- trying to bait people into open. It is more riskier. There is no at odds argument ,because one side is a total fallacy and is disregarded.

Thing is, after seeing those comments in mega one and two - I went and tried open mode myself..... and it wasn't any harder.
I never got killed, only ever interdicted once by a human while in open - who I had a pleasant chat with for 5 - 10 minutes then went on my way.

My first session in open is documented in mega two, as I was updating the forums as I went, my 2nd is recorded on YT.

So it really isn't any "harder" and I never faced any more "risk" either.

No...of course not. I, quite sensibly I might add, stayed in Solo until I could afford my ship, which is much more robust in Open than my original Sidey. And went through a number of ships in the process. I was just explaining why I haven't upgraded yet, even though I can afford it. Anyway, I love my Asp, and plan on keeping it when I do. :)

So as long as you can afford replacing your ship multiple times you don't' care if others senselessly blow you away? DOn't care about losing bounties and data and cargo ?

Personally I think it is those saying Open is such a "risk" that they need rewards that no one else gets because they are uber and play in Open are the ones supporting a total fallacy. Especially when those that are advocating for that claim to hate the "grind" they think solo is, yet admit that they used that "grind" to their benefit so they could have the uber ship in open.. therefore requesting rewards for a risk they claim is there yet they bypassed before decrying others who may follow in their footsteps.

Whether Open is any harder than Solo or Group depends on many elements. Player habits, skill level, chosen role, connection speed, when he plays, where he plays from, if he typically wings up, and so on.

Depending on the answers Open might even be easier than Solo for that specific player. This is particularly true for players that fly combat ships and prefer to wing up with others, as that will drive away most potential player attackers before they even attempt to interdict, though depending on the matchmaking even individual traders might have an easier time in Open if most of the players they are matched to are friendly.

And yeah, Open not being harder than Solo is one of the most used arguments for making Open the only mode; if the difficulty is the same, those players reason, then there is no need for the other modes. Being in this specific thread since the beginning of Mk I, albeit a lurker at the time, I've seen this argument put forth in more ways than I care to remember. In the time since you entered this thread you should have already seen many posts of the kind.

Well...they have to catch me first. :D But no, I don't. After all, to me, it's only a game and just Monopoly money anyway. There's more of everything where that came from. Don't get me wrong though. I don't promote any of the modes over the other. The only reason I play in Open is I refuse to let a bunch of children run me out. As the song goes...you can't take the sky from me.

Even as far as being being able to design your own home on a planet and have people over to visit. Imagine the Elite Dangerous home interiors expansion with missions to deliver sofas and futuristic TVs to players at their luxury outposts. /shudder

*laughing hard* Elite: Sims In Space! I hope they add the Pets expansion!

solo open, its all fine. Just disconnect the two galaxies. So ninjas can't undermine systems and you can't do anything to stop them.

Are those the ninja's in different time zones to you, the ninja's with more/less hours to play than you, the ninja's on different platforms to you or the ninja's on faster/slower internet connections than you?

You can't do anything against them if they are in Open Mode because of:
- instancing
- time zones
- Xbox

Control is an illusion. It's not part of the game.

Player have to accept that in Open they can get attacked at anytime without any obvious in-game reasons. Players have to accept that players in Solo Mode and Private Group Mode and on Xbox can affect the background simulation.

That's the way the game is. Accept it and the game will become much more fun.
