Powerplay Please FD, please make it stop!

The idiocy is big on this one:

Developers of the game, I beg you... I double beg you! Do something about fifth columning! It's taking proportions that are nearly unmanageable. This is a game, it needs rules that encourage sportsmanship and risk-taking. At least make it DANGEROUS for the saboteurs. How do you even explain this on a lore perspective?!?

Well, that explains how Mahon seems to have much less 5C activity lately...they moved over to their next target.

Seconded. It is farcical and shows how little interest and or grasp FD have of this sub game they have created.

Question - Have the developers out and out abandoned ongoing development of PowerPlay?

Re not solo vs open.....yes but I can state with a very high level of probability that 5C scum responsible are deliberately cowering in solo. How can I state that? Because I have sat in Barathaona for many hours watching the figures go up. Not a single Cmdr has passed my scanners.

If these 5C's are not perfect examples of unsportsmanlike behaviour, and not participating in the spirit of the game then I don't know what would qualify.

I doubt its the same folks that were working on you guys, because ours is primarily from a group of Winters folks who didn't like decisions made by the Winters community, so they are trying to 'destroy from within'. Although, I imagine they have some support from ALD and AD CMDR's. But, to be honest, I could care less who is doing it, they cannot beat us with real game mechanics, so they resort to this nonsense; they are players below us, so I have no time, or care for them.

But seriously Frontier, its pretty much making Powerplay worse, and driving people away. I'm pretty sure that's not in the best interest of players or the devteam.

I thought people in Winters who didn't like the leadership would just defect to Mahon or Aisling to pursue the "same" beliefs...it's a pity seeing such a reaction.

Well, best of luck dealing with the issue. I know how it feels.

As a proud Torval member, we have managed to successfully defeat their activities a few times.
May be you should have a word with our tactical team they are will skilled at it.

I doubt that, I think with horizon planets are going to take in a role as well, and stuff can be added to it with that alone, pp on planets? maybe it gives more merits to take out their actual bases of operations then just their pilots you happen to catch?

I'd be interested to see some raw numbers on just how many cmdr's are responsible for this kind of sabotage. It always occurs in solo. It seems to occur rapidly and otherwise indicates a large group of organized individuals at work. However, it seems unlikely that a large group would waste their time in this manner. Which makes me think it's more likely the result of a handful of cmdr's perhaps taking advantage of an exploit / cheat or just jobless individuals spending 24/7 grinding.

Would be nice to know if FD has some automated triggers that red flag activity that seems otherwise impossible.

The biggest problem with 5c, imo, is that serious damage can be done by a very small number of CMDR's. We believe our problem could be literally 1-5 people, we know 1 person who is doing this in Barathoana, and we believe he is primarily acting alone. Of course, I have no proof of this, and he could very well have support from enemy Powers.

I think we are seeing some irregular activities because UM/Fort has become an old method of offense/defense that has become stagnant because the players have figured out how to manage these mechanics. I believe we will only see more and more 5c, unless there is some further balancing.

Can I get a PP newbie breakdown here?? Are we talking fifth column because ppl within Winters' power are expanding to a system inside her control space? I just dont quite understand what the issue is can someone throw me a bone?

Make PowerPlay Open only, OR penalty for solo play, OR bonus for Open play.
I'm pledged to Felicia, but I would like to vaporize these IQ light people who prepare a negative CC system, of course after a friendly warning.
This way the whole PP is good only for 50M/week income, until Solo players can affect everything while taking much lower risks.

5c is when someone joins a Power with the sole purpose of damaging that Power or helping another. Basically sabotage of Prep/Expansion by preparing systems that have negative CC values, and could only reduce the CC income of that Power.

In my opinion, it is really damaging to the game because a small number of people can undo the work of literally hundreds of players.

or maybe its just new people...?

Hi, fresh (read: new) perspective on this here from a new player who just pledged to Winters yesterday...

I spent 15 minutes trying to understand PP as much as I could (because who wants to spend more than 15 mins reading stuff during their "gaming time" window). Once I thought I got my head around it I flew to Rhea. Then grabbed some Liberal Flyer thingos, then checked where I could send them... #1 on the list? Barathaona.

"Righto, that must be the place everyone is pushing on because it's #1. Oh look, it's also relatively close to Rhea too so I can do a bunch of drops and increase my rep and start earning a tasty CR salary. Excellent!"

I did two trips (10 each) with the Liberal Flyer because it was close and I was earning rep with Winters. In my (beginner) mind, it was win/win.

Have you considered that maybe there ISN'T an evil group of dissidents inside the Winters camp, trying to stuff things up and INSTEAD, there are a bunch of freshly-minted CMDR's (from maybe hmm, the consoles?) that are doing runs from Rhea to Barataona purely because of the same circumstances I just outlined in my first foray into PP?

And the reason you're not seeing them is because they are on another platform, or like me, are so fresh they are still learning the game whilst in Private Group mode with a couple of mates.

:)

You can't blame them really. The game is ridiculously unhelpful at teaching players about PP and then there is zero information on which systems to choose based on what you're faction is doing (apart from a 1-10 system ranking that is obviously HIGHLY prone to human error, thus being useless).

It is partially new players. However that system is #1 on the list because of the person who is doing it. We know who he is, and his motivations. This goes wayyy back to the first few cycles, and an individual that was rather belligerent, and insistent in asserting certain things that did not fit with the way Power play works. This person took the community's rejection to his ideas very personally. Even though multiple people went out of there way to explain things, and attempt to understand his perspective.

So it's basically 1 Salty person, and then new players who don't know any better because of a lack of documentation on Frontiers part.

Seriously? Wow. I feel sorry for the guy; imagine having to be that vengeful just to feel some small poke of accomplishment in life. What kind of rut would you have to have fallen into to be able to find no other rewarding activities

:(

He's laughable. His response when proven wrong is to attempt to sink the player group/power who repeatedly pointed out that fact.

Never a better example of an adult? baby. ;)

Yuls assessment of numbers doing this is pretty much where I think it is. My guess is 1 really determined player and 2-3 hangers on that in the back of their mind know their leader is a little unhinged.

Should that few people be able to make such a detrimental impact on a large group of players? Deliberate or not is mechanically beside the point really. Game design flaw.

Barathaona (potential value - 6CC) got already 14 400 packages. Noobs who didn't RTFM and mainly 5th columnists.

Frontier, they sabotage YOUR Powerplay. Shall we all joining enemy's power and sabotage too ?
Actually, that's the best way to hurt our opponents.
Negative trucking. Yeah, cool^^ FPS ? Out fashioned, join Elite man.

Frontier, Powerplay is work on progress and you didn't consider every aspect of it.
Keep good work. And fix what have to be fixed. As many commanders still involved in PP may quit this broken trucking contest.

You want to hurt Winters ? You want easy play ?
Join Winters and expand crappy systems. No skill needed and it hurst really bad. Thank the devs.

Whatever FD IS going to do about this, I hope it does not involve penalizing solo play.
Already PP is not very rewarding, nor a lot of fun either. Any more penalty to it would put the death blow to it for me.
