Getting stuck on space stations and then getting killed - millions in losses

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Devs please fix the situation if you get stuck on a station entrance either from that stupid fence outside the air lock or on another ship in the entrance. I have been stuck many times. I get fined then 25 seconds later killed by the station. This is stupid, just stupid. If a player is stuck they should be able to type "/stuck" to shut down the station aggression and the game should move them 1KM away so they can land properly.

In B4 LTF comments.

In all seriousness. What are you flying that you regularly get stuck?

How about coming out of super cruise only to jump into (literally through) the station, causing massive hull damage? Or having the docking computer smash you straight into the rotating ring? Brilliant.

Latest version too, both times. Thankfully I wasn't going too fast or I avoided destruction by logging out to the main menu. I recommend you try doing the same next time it happens.

Have never gotten stuck myself, but if it happens to you often, try logging out and then log back in. In theory it should put you some distance away from the station next time logging in. If that doesn't work, the only other suggestion I have is to practice landings more in the tutorial.

Wait, how often is this happening.

Do you just drive over NPCs habitually? What are you driving that you end up in the grill, constantly?

I could understand if you endlessly boost into the station in a type-9 and refuse to stop for anything. I'm comfortable you are doing none of these things, however. :)

GRILL OP PLS NERF. Also you have 1:30 outside the station if you do not request docking, and only 30 seconds if you are loitering over another pad.

So. No loligaggin'.

Do Boxes of Crackers and Breakfast Cereal Boxes now come with Pilots Licenses ?
Docking Tutorial FTW.
Or Docking Computer.

Have you tried the key that has reverse thrust bound to it? Using that would have saved you millions in loses!

That happened to me the other day, somehow (I'm still not sure how) I managed to get stuck halfway through the slot on the way in. As the station started counting down to my doom, I put full pips to sys, boosted and after about ten years worth of grinding noises the ship pulled through and I lowered the landing gear to prevent pancaking the back of the station. Then I docked and went downstairs for some tea :p

I think a few CMDRs haven't realised yet that NPCs do not automatically give way to CMDRs. They will progress through the mail-slot regardless. So it's actually not impossible to become "wedged". If you get stuck and cannot move. They will happily zip past you if you are lining up, so being observant helps.

Note that the 4 lights around the mail slot will light green if you have right of way coming in. So if you are in a big ass ship and they aren't green when you go to enter, get ready for potential wedging. :)

If it becomes a no-win scenario. Bail out. Sometimes it's just a derpy NPC and forcing clear could cause unwanted distrunction (followed by immediate retribution).

Wait, the lights change? I thought they were fixed! I'm going to hang out and pay attention to traffic next time I'm near a station.

Aye. If you observe carefully, you will see 4 small bumps in each of the four corners of the mail-slot. If you approach and they turn grean then no-one has entered the slot/ you have right of way.

Note: this is inbound only. I don't think there is anything to warn of incoming ships. At least I've not paid enough attention to notice.

Once you see it, it becomes second nature. I drive a clipper fairly often and that doesn't exactly fit too good when a type-9 is coming the other way. :)

Once I realised they had fixed the lights (which were broke for a while) I just can't un-see them when I approach. If they are green, you are good to go.

If you can't master entering the toaster, get a DC, a smaller ship or learn how to enter it properly.
Its your situation, not the majority of us.

Its called Dangerous for a reason. Clumsy flying is the pilots fault, not the game's.
Good Luck and Fly Safe!

All caps is considered shouting by the way.

The only difficulty is to exit with an Anaconda, unless you have mastered that. Otherwise it is easy.

I will soon be faced with the prospect of "oh god how the heck do I get this through the mail slot?". The time is drawing near.

I am still haunted by the YouTube vid of a docking computer deciding going through a ring segment (using boost for added affect) was the optimal approach. The sounds of classical music; and explosion.
