The SCB (Shield Cell Bank) Thread

The pvp community represents the most hardcore, most invested, most highly skilled and coordinated player groups out of the community.

If you want ED to get popular, you have to realize that having competitive end game pvp is just about the most important thing you can do. What makes any MMO successful? The end game content. The reason why WoW went huge is because people didn't just level up to lvl 60 and quit. They got to lvl 60, and then it was like a whole new game: the guilds and raids, thats what kept people playing. In ED, there are too many people who get to their "dream ship"- python, FDL, anaconda etc. and then quit because they don't really see what more to do.

In ED, clans and pvp are really the only things keeping a lot people playing.

Lets face it, the only pve combat entertainment is RES sites and CZs. Of course pvp is going to be a large source of entertainment, and and of course pvp is going to be the main source of entertainment for players who have many hundreds of millions of total assets.

This SCB change is just not functional FD. It's clear that whatever objectives you thought you were accomplishing, have not been accomplished.

This is pretty basic stuff FD, I just went to twitch and the 4 top games are CS:GO, LoL, DotA 2 and Heathstone. 4 competitive player vs. player games. Next is FO4, an extremely anticipated single player game that just launched. Look, it doesn't even matter how big or small the pvp community in ED is, if you want a successful multiplayer game you need competitive pvp. If you want ED to be successful, you want ED to have the most competitive and balanced pvp possible. Catering to the lowest common denominator works for a game like call of duty, not a game like ED.

Repped for justice.

Come on man, I am in pvp for a long time. Why you impose that I am a ilar? Seriously?

Dude, really?

Half a video does not prove if SCBs are under powered, over powered, just right or light you up like a Christmas tree.
Using half a video as proof, while is not an outright lie - it's not exactly honest either.

Also, You'd not be the first person to use underhanded methods to push an agenda - politicians do it hourly ;)

Although I agree with a lot of this...PVP is not a needed part, nor a rewarded part of the game. It is allowed..but it is not the end-all-be-all of this game. It would be a different galaxy without the PVP crowd...but the game would not suffer much, if they departed.

My opinion...just like yours.

If you're struggling to do combat without your broken toys, try going back to the combat tutorial - I hear it is quite good.

So you forced a python to retreat, and you know he is going to be forced to spend 10 minutes docking, and then spent 150k to repair, but in your mind the fight was a loss because the python didn't blow up?

Punching through a python's SCB with 5 people is not hard.

If you are a in a beginner ship like the viper, then yes I 100% agree, if you are outnumbered you should run like hell. If you are in the end game beast that is the python, and you have the balls to take that thing into a fight with 5 people and the brains to know how to fly it, then you should be able to escape death. Otherwise that python pilot is essentially paying 10 million CR just because he was outnumbered.

You shouldn't be able to kill people in this game just because you outnumber them. You should have to outplay them as well.

It's pretty clear that outplaying them is out of the question in your case, however. FD please fix!@@!

thanks for linking that music video, I'd much rather listen to that than have to read another one of your posts.

Get a friend and try cmdr. Shieldless ships are now the ultimate power. Which is ...

Just realized you are with Triadius! I'll get up with you guys tonight and see what is up. I admit this will be changing the meta...and that causes consternation...because 'old' does not work! Showing that is not difficult...what you need to show is that 'new' is not going to work either! That is where this discussion 'tends' to break down. I keep seeing people showing that SCB's over heat...whether this is working as intended or not is good to ask. What is an even stronger statement is showing that the changes based on the ideas of the new meta are broken as well.

Then balancing can occur. Otherwise you have a one sided discussion that the devs will always win.

2 on 1, maybe - ship types depending.
5 on 1, unless it's 5 starter sidewinders versus an A spec Anaconda... get real.

All the prior video shown, was in a big fight, 1 person was able to tank similar size ships way more than he should have been able to.

Most of Triadius is also about this game break. Most are playing sth else. I was one of the last to stay in game despite the 1.4 bugdate and the 1.5 nerfdate
If this nerf goes down we will go accordingly. We will talk to other clans. Armor up and kill every single commander we meet. Until we are heard:-]

Jockey79 is that your cmdr name?

The current discussion aobut SCB really makes me realize how glad I am that I'm not into PvP. Life is so much more fun in PvE without using any SCBs at all ^^

Wait until you earn the largest ships. After you have everything and the only thing keeping you in is the open/clan/pvp role play.

So if you do not get your own way, you're gonig to throw a tantrum and try to ruin other peoples game play.

And no, that is not my in game name - not that it would do you much good, I've taken to playing in a private group.
I've stopped using Open or Mobius and I no longer accept spammed friend requests. I've started removing or blocking people I do not know in real life.

Gosh, and I thought it was the explorers.

To be honest, I'm not sure what SCB brings to PvP in the first place. It's a God Shield. It unbalances the game.

A balanced game means that for every gun there's a shield; for every weapon an armour, for every measure a countermeasure, for every strength a weakness, for every advantage a disadvantage. In the end, the only difference between victory and defeat is the skill, strategy, ingenuity and perseverance of the player. That is competitive PvP. I don't see how SCB makes things more competitive.

You sound like a petulant child. A warrior has self-control. A warrior is not blinded by arrogance or conceit. He accepts what is, and the challenge of what is. A warrior does not prey on the weak but seeks a worthy adversary. He fights not for glory nor a delusional sense of power. A true warrior knows when not to fight.

So what are we talking about? :] I have been instructed about piloting skills by a soloplayer? Hahaha :] Please. I will kindly ignore you further.

So what do I say now? Really - I have to proove how much pvp I had? I am a part of a PVP clan, we do pvp every day.
I wish there were pvp kill stats. But this time you have to believe me.
I am not a liar - try the beta by yourself. Get a fully shielded ship, you friend takes the same without shields and stacking armor. Check it yourself.
I thought this topic is not about "you are not a good enough pilot"

Yo brah! I herd u PVP brah! I PVP 2 brah! Maybe we shud PVP 2gether brah! I PVP about my own weight! I'm the most PVP but I herd ur gud!

So what are we talking about? :] soloplayer. Go home :]

No, not a Solo player - but this highlights why I've stopped having anything to do with random people.
You shout about ruining peoples gaming if you don't get your own way (so griefing then?)
And when I tell you knowing my in game name is no good to you (as I no longer play open), out comes the solo player comments.

I've used Solo 3 times in 9 months, due to connection issues. Also, I've never been killed in Open.
I have been killed in private groups. I think I'm up to 14 deaths - which all started after I quit using SCBs as they made the game far too easy.
