Any details on what the blocking issues are for the curious one of us? Keep up the good work at any rate, hopefuly my PC will be able to run Horizons as smoothly as it is E:D :)

If you click the little Frontier symbol on the upper right of the OP, it will take you to the next post by David in this thread where he elaborates on this.

I think that's the part that still seems a bit placeholder still to many of us - especially when entering ring systems where the rings disappear for a second then re-appear and the HUD disappears for a second too.

Hopefully the whole planet won't disappear when we are dropping out of orbital cruise :)

It has already been taken, prior to 1.5.

1.5 Beta and 2.0 Beta will be playing in the same worlds - though we want to encourage 2.0 people to restart (don't worry - it won't affect your main game save), as we have a new on-the-surface start position.

(Oops - I think I just made an announcement...! :) )

This REALLY makes me want to reset my main save. I'm still hesitating, especially that we have our faction in game and gaining momentum. But to have that feeling of starting anew in a Sidey on a surface... Argh! :)

Oh that's interesting.

I thought that Michael B had previously said that you have to purchase the landing module for a fee, but it sounds like new players will have on automatically installed then.

:D

I was hoping for this! Will we have to earn our first ship!

Keep up the good work no point releasing it before its ready.

will 1.5 still be released with horizons or will it come early as the beta has been a while ?

David,

can we get 100% confirmation that ice planets (atleast those without atmosphere) are landable in Horizons 2.0? I'm 99% sure they are, but so far we have seen no surface ice planet footage/pics. Thanks for great work, can't wait for Monday (and to stay positive - under a week to go). :)

Will the game launch be pushed back as well? I'm concerned that the game was meant to be releasing before the end of the year which means the beta will be quite short now and I'm not really sure if it is worth the £10 it cost to get in.

So much respect for a games company that is open and clear about issues they're having, and aren't afraid to delay to make sure the product is released in a more polished state.

One half of me says take as long as is needed, while the other half cries at having to wait longer before I can try this myself.

Well. Not nice, but there obviuosly are reasons for it. I hope it isnt the 10 Credit-Bug :)

- Will 1.5 Beta be affected (= PTR will stay offline until Monday)?

Interesting. Can the restart/new account process be changed to bump the initial credit balance? Even with beta pricing, starting with a Sidewinder and 1000 Cr is going to be grindy. If I know I can reset my save and start out with a Sidewinder and 10 or 100 million Cr, (and 10% pricing on ships and modules) I'll be much more likely to give it a try.

grnbrg.

Welp.

Will be selling all my ships and then self-destructing in the beta then. :D

Lucky you the boss, there no one to tell you off.

On-the surface start position sound interesting.

Better to get it right and take a few extra days... I don't know about anyone else but I still get a buzz out of responding to David Braben... my teenage self 30 years ago would never have believed it :)

Forgive me for being silly, but the very PURPOSE of a beta is to find bugs, and the fact that it is a beta denotes that there will be bugs. How can you have a polished beta? That just doesn't make sense. These days the whole beta seems more like early access, with all this 'it's not finished yet' OF COURSE IT ISN'T FINISHED, because it's a BETA.

Oh yes, as everyone says "take as long as you want." It's not as if we paid money for this beta access, is it.

I know everyone likes to have a happy-happy community spirit here; but I just want to put down that a few of us do actually realise there is a business deal going on here: we give FD money; they give us a product. I can accept a few days delays; but not the whole thanking them for that, and this essentially encouraging them to take as long as they want. No.

Thanks David, I hope you don't get into trouble for that sneak announcement.
It's always interesting to hear about the development process and the issues that are being worked on behind closed doors. The unfortunate thing about releasing a Beta with bugs is that people will ignore the 'Beta' status and judge it as if it's the final product, I hope the 30th gives you long enough to iron out the last few obvious issues.
