Hello all

The old thread reached the magical 10,000 posts where it starts to slow down the forums, so it's time for a new shiny place with lots of room for everyone.

This is the place to discuss the game Star Citizen, and not its backers nor other posters in the thread. Please don't wind others up, accuse, snipe or otherwise be nasty.

Enjoy!

So, are there any new when the magical 2.0 update will be available for all backers? Also, anyone here played the close test version of it?

The way I get my SC news is that I wait for the periodic locks on the SC thread and do a bit of catchup. I feel slightly misled.

Mr Nowak is the best source of news in this threadzilla cept he can get a bit sidetracked when the negativity surfaces (rightly or wrongly!). I don't visit SC central forums at all its so incredibly vacuous and controlled. Here at least I feel all sides and sensibilities get an airing along with the cream of the news from Mr Nowak, thanks for that Mister :)

2.0 could take a week or a month before release to live. We are now at patch E, the "gameplay" lasts between 5 to 20 minutes, if you can get into the servers (this can take up to 10 minutes EDIT: Twerk17 just gave up after trying for and hour). In my opinion, a lot still has to happen with netcode, client and server crashes. Apparently the instance manager is not functioning as it should. Then they still have to fix the multitude of persistent bugs left over from version 1.1.1 to get it to a playable state.

EDIT: The flight model is slightly improved, but most ships still feel like paperplanes, except for the Gladiator, not perfect, but drifts better.

The environments are beautifully done, and they do have a great immersive atmosphere about them, with great gameplay potential, if only CIG can get all this to work.

LOL, you are both off the chart, for the original backers the breaking point is November 2015, after that its true that CIG can chose to do it out of their great kindness. If they don't make it in 2016.

BTW I was granted a refund, by these above terms. It was kindly and politely requested and granted.

Actually for countries with proper consumer laws a refund is your right.

No idea why CIG haven't dropped a single player version of 2.0 to at least give people something decent to play with while they sort out the netcode.

Only 16 more Star Citizen thread rollovers to go until release!
With the way the post rate is accelerating, does this mean it needs to be ready mid-January?
Does this mean I need to start a flame war to get the thread locked to buy time?
Or is a flame war just going to accelerate the posting further?

A wild thread appears, wishes it's not going to be hundreds of pages of flame wars again about their financials again (resulting in constant thread locks) yet about game stuff. :3

Been doing races on the Asteroid belt on 2.0 on Cruise Speed, it's crazy, if you don't dodge you rek onto a asteroid, if you do you might just black out, need better strategy. :|

If you go faster, you're at risk for less time, right? Try that maybe.

Cruise Speed is fast, but means if you're in a crash route into one asteroid, the ship maneuverability is very limited, sudden movements will give you the Gs = black you out. It's not working :|

I like how Max is telling a CIG dev how his game works :D

New plan: You take a Crucible (when it's done), grip an asteroid in its repair arms, and plow straight through the field/anything else.
(Disclaimer: Seriously doubt this will work)

To be fair to Max, as a graphics coder I mostly pilot the Good Ship DebugCam, I'm not rated for anything more difficult ;)
