Thargoids knows that one human does not speak for the entire hive. It is not logical to them, but I think they have accepted it.:)

This is how we greeted them the first time thy dropped by:

'THE THARGOIDS - TRUTH AND FICTION -11
M.C.S

The Thargoids were first reported in human space by Lens Nikon, supervisor of the 'Planets Unlimited' Terra-formation Project on New Africa (Veliaze -2,3). They appeared in large numbers following the initial stages of planetary alteration. Initially only the Thargons were seen, flying in linear formation at a steady distance from the Planets Unlimited fleet.

It was only after the instigation of oxygenation that a mother ship was observed from a distance and no hostile action was reported until one of the Fleet Commanders ordered his defence wing to "melt them down".

There followed the complete destruction of all Thargoid ships in the area, including the mother ship. Forty eight hours later, the entire Planets Unlimited Fleet experienced a mis-jump and were met by around thirty Thargoid mother ships with an encircling fleet of Thargons.

Only two survivors returned (both unscathed) and neither made coherent reports although it seems likely that the two may be the only humanoids to have seen a living Thargoid and survived. Reports of their debriefing at the Therapy Centre on Eta Cassiopoea, suggest that the Thargoids made several attempts to open negotiations but were fired on at each juncture.

The exact details will never be known but the first shots were undoubtedly fired and the Thargoid Wars started in earnest. Hostilities continued for the next century and a half with neither side making sane communication with the other.

Or did they?

In our next report, we examine the issue of Inter-Species Communication.'

We could perhaps try something different with the next species we bump into?

Lens Nikon - I have a good laugh every time I see that. "I'm stuck for a name... <looksAroundOffice>...yeah, OK, that'll do."

Unfortunately this is irrelevant to anything...

Using strong language there to ensure that any future connection between her and anything is dispelled.

Kahina is a creation of Drew Wagar, from the book he wrote. Any connection between her activity or any official storyline in game (therefore UAs, SS1 or anything else) is entirely coincidental and generally designed to conflate one with the other. Basically, a giant red herring.

Almost 100% certainly.

But, with a nod towards the tinfoil cupboard, has anyone checked his blog recently?

Michael Brookes took to the QA panel to announce that Frontier are, once again, looking to licence a variety of works – including new books. I can lay any fears to rest that I will be looking to join in once we understand how its all going to work – we should have more details in the next few months. I hope to bring my own contribution to highlighting the amazing Horizons expansion, look at ways to include the activities of the player factions (some of which we’ve seen in the Elite: Reclamation fan fiction) and give Kahina (at the very least) another outing in the universe of Elite: Dangerous.

Might be nice if someone from the Canonn council specifically let Drew know that using our Faction in his work would be OK. Even if he writes us as lunatic no-hopers, it would be good.

Technically all groups belong to FD IP-wise; but I seriously doubt he will look at using The Canonn at all anyway...

Back when I bought Elite it was from a strange man, with goat legs! A stone tablet rose from the ground surrounded be flames, and I had to sign my name in blood.

He said something about a soul, but it seemed like a fair deal to me

We went from Kerrash to Michael as officiall thread troll in one go. That's pretty good.
If we solve another mystery we might get trolled Braben him self :)

Kerrash always at least made it clear that he was the unofficial thread troll. As was Drew. ;-)

Nope, wasn't me. Wasn't going to buy it, nope. Must have been some other Neville Clavain you saw. Very common name actually. Plus I'm working at home, yes, that's it, working at home.

Sure. It was probably the other guy I saw in the bar in Titan City as well then?

P.S. The waitress has your tinfoil hat.

All your fiction are belong to us :)

Michael

This really reminds me of Unreal Tournament ... 2003 or 2004 was it? Last level/boss had seriously tough AI-player skill identification meaning you needed 20 - 25 frags to win you better get wasted the first 15-20 so the computer thought you were so dumb that it wouldn't recover for your counterattack...

We gotta be careful what we dream up with or else we run the risk of FD running with it so no 18 foot tall tree monster thargoids with dual cannon beams and replicating octagonal ships or we are all in for a bad time.
