You really saw that?

Hotice station that is what it reminds me of.

I didn't see it in game, I've been off for several months now but I've tried to stay current on the UA "situation". That popped up on my Facebook feed, someone posted it to the ED FB page.. what caught my eye was that it was in the Merope system.. I know the search is on for whatever the UAs were pointing to...and that it would probably be on the surface somewhere in this release. Just wanted to throw it out to the group for thoughts...

I see... the design looks familiar.. reminds me of something I saw in FFE once.

I have just arrived in Merope (well next door at MIAI) and stand ready to assist in the further exploration of the Merope systems moons if any other Cannon members would like to buggy with me or more to the point I with them as im new to all this sciencing stuff)

I will be back in Horrizons tomorrow afternoon/evening GMT and would love to wing up and go Artefact hunting down there.

it took me a day and a half to get there as i came in a corvette as I think i remember someone saying somewhere (maybe in a movie) "were gonna need a bigger boat!"

my commander name is flint read and i welcome any and all friend requests.

p.s im also fine with open or group play.

Pondering on the idea how to cure a station, maybe some commodity could cure it but knowing what may have an effect or how much would be needed to notice a effect would be hard but not impossible but another idea may be possible,

I'm no expert on the BGS simulation on if any system state can effect or close a black market but i know PP factions can have that outcome if they take control of a system.
A lavingy duval or Prantav Antal can close BM's in control systems.

I wonder what effect on a infected or malfunctioning station with a BM would be if the BM was taken offline/closed.

umm quick question:

I just arrived in Merope (with beta conflict zones being broken what else is there to do but explore)

and targeted this Fer de Lance NPC: "Dread Jasper"... he was marked as a Mission Target... umm I just got here, haven't got any missions...?

Special kinda NPC? was I supposed to gank him?

Try this combination:

7 progenitor cells
5 performance enchancers
1 scientific research data
1 occupied escape pod.

The results: The survivor will be pumped full of the chemicals, once the directions are followed (Scientific Research). He will then transform into a muscle bound raging IT/Mechanic/Astronaut, restoring all station services and terminals.

The above recipe is from.... heavily guarded medical INRA Convoys in systems with UAs (Hyades Sector BQ-x B1-0).. *Queue viloins... Dun Dun Duuun.

True Story.

Bug? If not, then it may be significant that he is a mission target. Try to scan his hold, his wake, etc..

So I finally took the time to go get a UA.. now what?
Draw it like one of your french girls... :D
But seriously, you should probably keep it until the Horizons release. And then have fun with UA on the ground. Run it over a few times. See if any special places of interest will spawn.
At least that's what I'll do.

I agree with previous sentiments, too - I wonder if there's a way to deduce why UAs cause degradation, because you could easily argue it's only by understanding why that we can hope to figure out how to stop it.

Exactly. We have experimented on the UA behaviour but we haven't experimented on the blue spores, & since they are obviously emitted from the UA & travel some distance from it then they could well be the likely cause of the corrosion. There didn't seem to be any way of experimenting on that while in space, but with Horizons we can carry UAs down to the surface & observe the effect of different conditions/materials on the spore behaviour. It may well be that some material yet to be discovered will neutralise them, or contain them.

Wow, the FUD over UA sales is getting a little too much for me to handle now.

There's yet to be a report of a station being affected that has had UAs sold privately to it, and my blind station still stands. Basically, there's still zero proof a station failure can be *solely* triggered by a player. But, c'est la vie. I was hoping to stop people (imo) wasting their time trying to trigger failures in Powerplay, but this snowball has well and truly started.

I'll stop pushing this agenda now, but I still think we're getting this very very wrong.

Totally agree. Current belief that Black Market Sales are the cause is simply not backed up by the observable evidence. Its the easy answer, and "I don't know" doesn't seem to be a thought that many can hold on to.

I think we are at a point where we can say that there is probably no automatic game-mechanic connected to UA sales. This is not strange as most of the stations are only 'GalNet damaged' (not really damaged in game).

Publishing the intent to sell UAs on forum or Redit seem to increase the chance of 'GalNet Damage'.

Only four stations are so far affected in-game. These are in 49 and 64 Ari, Warky and Araware.

I seriously doubt that a lot of UAs have been sold by players in Warky or Araware. These to systems are inserted as part of the story line. Something will happen in that region I guess.

It's fully possible that it will work to use UAs to shut down stations in Powerplay if you bring plenty of UAs and 'talk' a lot about it, but this is up to FD to chose. The rules are not cut in stone.

GalNet stories are manual input by FD.
Suspending station services are manual input by FD.

I think I read about it already, but just in case:

UAs send information to us visually and in radio(?) specter (the only part we understand is Morse). Let's simplify this a bit (these 2 points we know as exact facts):

1. UAs transmit (at least some) information in Morse code
2. UAs receive (at least some) information by scanning our ships below 1km range

What if we enter and exit their scan range in such a way that they could interpret our entering in their sensor range as a Morse coded message?

As for Micheal's message that there still science to be done - maybe we just need to bring more and more scientific data canisters to Dr.Palin?

Do they transmit? we hear them in the same way you would hear the engine noises from another ship.

Few thoughts:

1) The UA is pointing to Merope just because it's there that we will find the "cure" to the stations damage: a specific unknown material, a DEVICE, whatever. By pointing to Merope, it is not explicitly "helping" us: it just points there because of some unknown reason. But as a collateral effect, it's there that we will find the answer.
I personally don't think that we can find it in beta already. We'll have to wait.

Or:

2) There's a particular commodity or Rare item, that counters the corrosive effects of the UAs. Question to the CMDRs that performed the huge rares sell to Bonds Hub: did you notice some change in the 30 seconds delay between two modules damage? It could even be just few seconds: I mean, one ton of that commodity will delay the damage by, let's say, 2 seconds; more tonnes and the delay will be more.
When I performed my huge commodities test, back in 1.3, I was very careful to the damage delay: it didn't change. But who knows, perhaps after 1.4 things have changed?

I didn't follow the Cerberus Plague, could somebody tell me how the cure (Heike Tea) was found?

MB wrote there was no commodity/in-game way to prevent UA damage to ship YET.

I think with a more long-distance viper (mk4), and cobra-explorer (mk4), coupled with the fact our buggies can re-fuel themselves on planets, and we may potentially in the future be able to prevent UA damage (based on the YET)...

Are FD gearing us up for an encounter/combat potentially a long way from a space-station?

You can see on the UA reddit people are planning to sell them as warfare in powerplay. Until a station that doesn't have a black market becomes infected, we need to assume that selling the UA is directly responsible.
