I'm not buying Thargoids either.
Too convenient.
Too convenient.
Also, if the probes are Thargoid and they intend to attack, why use morse? Why use a form of communication that we can recognise and decipher? "Hey guys, let's broadcast in a weird language that is not our own, but that our enemy can understand".But why?
Why would the Thargoids attack us? They are not interested in us. They think we are weird and useless.
Why would the Thargoids send something as primitive as the UA? Why warn us if the intend to attack? They could just show up and demand surrender. We would have to accept.
The UA has a short range ship scanner 1km. It has a decent discovery scanner, but it's only able to pick out the closest celestial body.
They are found in a region outside human space.
It's corrosive and a strong signal source. It's not strange that it damages stuff, but it does not seem intended to me.
Unless the UA evolves greatly, it's not capable of doing any real harm.
Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen....
Do they transmit? we hear them in the same way you would hear the engine noises from another ship.

After what they did to my ma and pa in '84, it's clobberin' time!![]()
Sorry if we're not talking about Horizons in this thread, but a very weird thing happened in 2.0 in Merope system map.
Also, if the probes are Thargoid and they intend to attack, why use morse? Why use a form of communication that we can recognise and decipher? "Hey guys, let's broadcast in a weird language that is not our own, but that our enemy can understand".
And if they were trying to deceive us into thinking they are friendly you'd think the message would be a lot clearer, like the morse equivalent of "We come in peace", to mislead us into letting our guard down.
They may be of Thargoid origin, and they may want to attack, but there are still a lot of holes in the "Thargoid invasion" theory.
That they use morse may support the theory that they are Thargoids, or at least it not contradict it. But it doesn't really help the theory that they are hostile and spying on us.But how convenient was Morse code from an alien race that we as Humans just so happen to be able to transmit.
From my limited knowledge of the elite universe thargoids are the only alien race to have encountered humans ever in our history. It fits perfectly.Albeit a bit too perfectly

Here is a little alternative theory, based on old and recent events and articles.
Someone is lost in space. More precisely on and airless planet. They don't know where they are and they are low on resources.
Their only reference point is that they can see the Pleiades for where they are.
All hope seem lost until they discover that there are creatures living on this planet. These creatures are capable of living in vacuum and produce energy form either minerals in the ground, radiation or both. There are plenty of these creatures.
Having access to an energy source capable of operating in vacuum and high radiation, these crafty settlers starts 'upgrading' the creatures with technology that they have. Bits and pieces from ships and probes they have with them. They may even be capable of manufacturing.
These semi-organic creations are sent out in space. Programmed to go to the Pleiades and then spread out in all directions. The hope is that someone will find them understand what is going on.
Also, if the probes are Thargoid and they intend to attack, why use morse? Why use a form of communication that we can recognise and decipher? "Hey guys, let's broadcast in a weird language that is not our own, but that our enemy can understand".
For game-play reasons so that players can decipher it. The same kind of reasoning that enabled Jeff Goldblum to infect an alien space-ship from his Apple-Mac over an apparently compatible Wi-Fi Connection (Hotspot: EARTHSUCKSLOL).
See Galnet article RE: The Missing.
Could this actually be related to settlers of many centuries prior, maybe interbreeding/assimilating with an alien race or as above.
