Seriously, what is in those escape pods? For something to be an escape pod, it has to have escaped something. Each ship comes with escape pods (you can see them on the sidey & conda) so it's not one of the pythons pods... that pod would have had to be recovered... and it's occupant Not deemed fit to let out... maybe Antares? Or the survivors from SS1? Or something entirely different?
I'll have to rob another med convoy later, maybe a couple. I'll try scanning the pod with different scanners, letting one die, ect.

Nice! reminds me of one of those beacons from Novagen's Mercenary series. You put them down and they blink so you know to look for that particular location.. effectively a nav beacon.
Or a pattern enhancer if you prefer the TNG route.

Also pardon my French but it says it's inactive maybe it has to be activated to do something?
And... yesterday someone posted a picture of a wreckage on one of the Merope moons (taken from reddit) that looked like a small version of the back of the thargoid station from FFE
AND.... what if you took that beacon switched it on in a different system would the UA's start pointing to it.
Needless to say you must mark that spot and remember which moon you were on... I believe it may be significant.

Let me add that would be so nice if these lost humans, lost in space somewhere, are the thousands from the Antares. Soooooo nice.
Antares would fit well with the tech virus angle as well.
Sirius corporation once destroyed the Emperors private flagg ship the Duvals Duval, by infecting it's drives with a virus.
Perhaps the same thing happend to the Antares. As revenge or by accident.
You can easily create a mystery that's solvable by humans without having to use a human language. In fact they have already done that with other aspects of the UA, like having it point to Merope, instead of saying 'Oi! Go to Merope guvnah!'.
So while it's possible that FD have used morse in the UA for the reasons you are stating I find it unlikely. I may be wrong, but I hope I'm not because that would mean they are ok with using things in-game that are unnecessarily immersion-breaking, like a Thargoid speaking with a cockney accent
I'm afraid a mash up of the Thargoids and Eastenders, would drive me back to my zx spectrum emulator
I hate to say it, but an awful lot of the game would be immersion breaking, if I took the time to go through it, which I won't, as I fear Ian Phillips more than any Thargoid.
On the plus side, once the Thargoids show up, think of all that Canonn investigating that can be done. What are their weaknesses, where are they really from, what can be found out from these wrecked ships and tharglets?
Perhaps these people are missing, not because they became lost, but because someone, or something, made them go missing.
Perhaps we are about to see witchspace miss-jumps start happening, or people being snatched from witchspace by unnamed entities?

The next Mystery Mission Target NPC (Mission Objective when I have no mission) ship I come across in deep space, I'm gonna stalk.
Last guy wasn't heading for a station in Merope- but rather one of the Moons (!) I really should have tried harder to follow him.. you know.. see just where the heck he was going... or landing...
Didn't have a cargo scanner, nor a Wake scanner, kinda hard to drop at his wake signature manually (wish wake scanner would let me (wing) navlock to the wakes)
But wow I was curious- lets just hope this is not just all "user imagination content" only.

But since that "somebody else" has to be on the stations (within the BM) to raise the purchase price, then it almost certainly rules out Thargoids-'cos the sight of just one 'goid would ripple throughout the human bubble at the speed of light (or faster!) therefore the UA price bubble is being driven by one or more of the three major powers...QED?
100% agree. Thargoids are only likely to be a threat to us if we kick their nests. UAs are something else- TBD & there is no evidence of hostile intent. On the contrary the Morse signals seem to be warning ships (other than T6 etc) to stay away from them & warning that they are a hazard to shipping.
Yup, although the most interesting planet, the first, with the scorched craters visible from space is not landable. At least, not in the beta.

Also, don't get me started on theories about those Med Convoys. After my last mission, I came back to Peregrina thinking crazy things..
IE:
I was tracking the Med convoy I mentioned earlier... bouncing between two systems. On the third leg, looking for the convoy, the only thing to pop up is a Wreckage site...
I jump in, since its the only thing up, and notice its a huge wreckage site. Ok, seen this.. not gonna get excited, won't fool me again Fdev.
Until I notice this site has wreckage parts of ONLY Vultures and a Python. (85% sure the parts had Python hull, and 90% sure they were Vulture). The very med convoy I was tracking?
I returned to base, putting this behind me, before my tinfoil hat got so hot it fused to my scalp.
