@Michael Brookes can you please add roads with trucks like in space stations to planet installations? Because now the cities feel abandoned.

Holy Crap the new ice worlds look gorgeous. As an explorer they've always been worthless to me, but that's about to change...

I think the ice needs to reflect light more.

Oh, and any chance for this option to become a thing? Because the small SRV display in the turret is currently entirely useless to me, my head won't process the thing with the FOV-cone rotating:

Rotating Field Of View - the SRV remains locked in place and the blue cone rotates:

Rotating SRV - the blue cone stays fixed and the SRV rotates:

(Btw I mentioned this already when we were shown the turret mode for the very first time in one of the official live streams.)

You'll need at least 2GB VRAM.

Michael

Bizarre. I have an HD6750M with "only" 1GB of VRAM. I haven't had any problem running the beta so far. Most graphic settings on medium and I get around 16-18 fps when on a planet at 1920 x 1200. I guess those limitations are not hardcoded in the game...

But there is still a need for the transition from supercruise 'faffing about with spacetime' to 'normal flight'.

Yes.

There is also the whole instancing thing to understand (still).

Well...I've done my best the last couple of months...can't find the energy anymore so you're on your own. :p

Have they done some magic in the instancing on the supercruise -> orbital cruise -> glide -> normal travel path to reduce the P2P handshaking on joining the instance, and if so, can we have that backported into the supercruise -> spaceport instancing stuff?

Magic? No.
Improvements in how they handle the transition? Yes. Although...space based POI have other considerations to take into consideration. You saw Marks response.

Them applying similar transitions to space based drops from supercruise is indeed what I asked about.

18 fps is pretty low

if thats true why does your web site here state that a 470 nvidia card is the minimum requirement which is only a 1GB card?
Because they're the requirements for Elite: Dangerous.

He has a point, though. The store website specifically mentions:

Graphics: Nvidia GTX 470 / ATI 7240HD (DirectX 11 functionality required)

No mention of the amount of VRAM required.

FYI, I've been running the beta with a Radeon HD6750M with 1GB of VRAM. I have most settings on medium and still get 16-18 fps when on planet at 1920 x 1200. Unless they have made a massive change in the game, I can't see why a video card with "only" 1GB of VRAM would not be able to run the game (or the sim, whatever you call it).

Pretty epic:
POI fix Sweet
collect cargo without docking Droolll
SRC speed increments Nice
Explore progress for material :)

I feel faint..;D

Yea, I think the map uses the version of the planet which you see from a distance (and pre-Horizons). Which often look completely different to the Horizons version that pops up when you get close. Usually the lighting changes a lot to :(
