It would be great to see the 2nd challenge posted by February 3rd, 2014 for the USA wide release of the game. Especially since the poll has ended almost a month ago on January 1st.

If these Community Challenges aren't maintained in any sense of regularity then I'm not sure what the point was in touting this as a feature. If there is some problem with getting the donations out, then just make it a Achievement Challenge and hold off on or forgo the donation altogether.

Personally, I would also like to see these Achievement Challenges offer something in game such as DLC (animal, zoo item, in game currency, etc). An Achievement image reward isn't much of anything since all Achievements have images.

I was wondering about the challenge thing.

I started the game up again after not playing it for a while since I've been busy and noticed that the voting thing hasn't been updated. Not even an announcement acknowledging the winner.

What's going on with this game?

When you click on the Community Achievements page in game you now get an error message about the Server NOT being available. It's been like this for at least a week if NOT more.

Not a good sign. Good grief.

It is pretty grim. Even the community manager of this forum ran away. She never even made the guide to keeping visitor's happy that she promised she'd make two months ago.

You would think Frontier has stopped working on Zoo Tycoon, however they did release two new animals this week? Perhaps there is a bug on the servers which makes them not work? Anyway I always thought it was kinda weird Frontier doesn't talk about Zoo Tycoon on their twitter account, instead they always speak of Elite: Dangerous.

Perhaps it is nothing to worry about and are the developers to busy with upcoming Zoo Tycoon DLC and Elite: Dangerous? Time will tell?

According to this xbox.com press release we have until March 31, 2014 to release the Tigers for the Challenge. I am assuming the challenge will start on March 1, 2014, but who knows...

"But the partnership with the AZA didn’t end when the game was completed. Each month, “Zoo Tycoon” is issuing a Community Challenge centered on the endangered animals featured in the game and the game’s community is invited to vote for which non-profit organization they wish to benefit. Once the challenge’s goal is reached, Microsoft will donate $10,000 to the chosen non-profit organization benefitting endangered animals and their habitats. The community chose the AZA Tiger SSP’s Tiger Conservation Campaign as the first Community Challenge non-profit organization. Players have until March 31 to collectively release 1,000 Sumatran tigers into the wild in “Zoo Tycoon.” If they succeed, Microsoft will donate $10,000 in support of efforts to reduce the number of Sumatran tigers killed, displaced, or caught in snares."

With a little over a week left in the month of March I don't expect to see the Tiger Challenge.

I don't know why they do these press releases without making sure they are ready to commit.

1,000 Tigers might be manageable for the community as a whole within a week but with little to no announcement outside of that press release I think they should just postpone until April. Then again, I have little faith it'll show up anytime soon.

The current poll for Challenge #3 ends on the 31st of March.

Unless the challenge is ACTUALLY active but there is no Achievement Challenge for Zoo Tycoon listed on the Xbox One Achievements. That would be really messed up to have it running but no way of knowing.

The way of knowing is the press release. They don't have to add challenge-achievements. They should, but they don't have to.

Well since the Community Challenge regarding the 1,000 Sumatran Tigers for March 2014 NEVER materialized I asked Frontier what was going on and they of course gave me a generic reply of keep an eye on news.xbox.com for any information regarding Community Challenges.

I think I'm done with wasting my time keeping up on this game and it's so-called exclusive, and now apparently defunct, Community Challenge feature.

I agree, why would we vote on Community Polls when we don't get the challenges? The Sumatran Tiger Challenge is still not live, I doubt we will see the Polar Bear challenge anytime soon. Also we can now vote for another challenge, is it just me or was the first and last community challenge the Barbary lion dilemma? Also, what kind of marketing is this? This game is so much under the radar that even the forum is dead.

Zoo Tycoon is a franchise with a lot of potential. It would not be a wise decision to waste that. Especially now their biggest competitor, Roller Coaster Tycoon gets another game.

Apparently we are just suppose to remember what the requirement is, guess that it's running and/or bookmark the xbox news blog site scouring for any news related to Zoo Tycoon.

I would have thought the 0G Achievement Challenges being tied to these Community events was going to be the plan given the Barbary Lion challenge that was available at launch. There was no such Achievement Challenge for this community event.

I, too, am really grateful for the continued patches and new timed challenge. However, has anyone been able to progress with it at all? I've released 10 Blue Throated Macaws, but the challenge is still showing as 0% in the Achievements app.

When I go to the 'Community' page in game, it says "Please participate to check the progress of this challenge". I may have forgotten to vote in last month's poll (I can't remember) - does this mean I can't get the challenge?

I released about 17 macaws and ended the game, because I was going to do something else. As soon as I saw the main menu the achievement unlocked, so I went to the community challenges page and saw more than 2000 macaws had been released.

However I never released over 2000 macaws so I guess the community has met the challenge?

Also, I really want to thank Frontier for making the challenges again, thanks.

Hrm - this is very odd now.

If I go to the 'Community' page in-game, it now says 3,845/450 (that's fair enough) and in the Achievements app, the challenge shows at 100% completion but still hasn't unlocked... :/

It just unlocked for me while loading into my zoo. I'd tried going into my zoo, releasing a macaw and going back to the menu quite a few times, so I'm not sure what made it work now.

The only noteworthy thing was that the released animals count on the Community page seemed to update about the same time, so maybe you just need to hang about until that update happens.

Anyway, that's all I could suggest to anyone with the same problem - just keep trying. :)
