UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Not sure it's practical having a KOS order for anyone carrying UAs, considering that's what we were set up to study. I could see two Canonn pilots scooping up UAs, then turning on each other in a bloody dogfight. Good job we don't have multi-crew yet, or we'd be throttling each other in the cabin.. I was joking about the UAs effecting people too... now I'm not so sure..

Anyway, keeping with our long-standing tradition of seeing patterns and finding links where there are none.. I saw the below and my first thought was - that looks like a UA docking port. And on a scientific outpost, no less.

I'm starting to hope the aliens attack soon, so this puzzle which may-or-may-not still be a puzzle will go away. If it's still here. If it ever was here.

You mean you don't hear the UA when the computer is off?

I clearly heard it in the other room....

There's currently only one article that I can see on the website. If it was still up then I was going to run it through an online diff checker to look for hidden characters. I must remember to do this faster next time we get a repeated article on the UAs.

I actually did the diff checker yesterday looking for any hidden clues. Didn't find anything. Since then, I've further inspected my tinfoil and noticed that there were microperferations. I think I'm being tampered with...

But Bond Hub still up is a fact.
It was the third station to be affected after Warkushanui and 64 Arietis, even before 49 Arietis... and it is still up and running.

EDIT:
on a second note, Warkushanui System could hide some secrets, being the first System to experience issues, without any real explaination so far. Could be good to go there inspecting. Planets and Moons in 2.0. Could be the place where the Convoys were taking UAs secretly.

So, i did a bit of digging, tinfoiling around my idea.
Here's a google spreadsheet that summarize Galnet reports of Stations malfunctions, services shutting down with dates and durations.

The fastest shut down was Korolyov Hub in ARAWERE who was shut down in 7 days only.
Bond hub has been infected for 39days according to Galnet.

However, i don't see any clear pattern other than some systems being announced as malfunctionning in groups...

I just purchased a major stake in an aluminum mine because....

ARAWERE

that name there has to be some kind of message, seriously.

...I see "free floaters" every morning... but that's another story :D

+REP

Arawere is one of the latest systems to be infected, after the UA sell price increase, after our Educating ED stream, and all the Reddit psycho-hype about selling UA to kill stations.
It is clear that all of these increased UA sells exponentially somewhere... making it fast.

That's what i was thinking.
Anyone remember the exact date we issued Galnet article to call commanders for stopping UA sales ?
Also what were the date we tested the massive commodity sale at Bond Hub ?

November 28th. The GalNet asking people to halt sales was published the following Monday, I believe. We used the GalNet to prove/disprove the Rares test.

If they published it, we knew the test failed.

Well, we might need to wait a bit to confirm this, but we might have stopped future stations suffering malfunctions.
As i see it from my spreadsheet, Galnet articles appeared every 7 days or so announcing new malfunctions, with the exception of Bond Hub who was announced 17days after the previous (Weyn Dock, 64 ARIETIS).

Latest Galnet reporting new station "infected" was on December 2nd, two days before our Galnet article.
So wether we've been heard by players or FD used our Article, no new malfunctions to date.

Regarding our test in Bond Hub, the 28th November date seem to had no special meaning.
The station was reporting mysterious malfunctions for 26days at the time.
When did we stopped selling UA to bond hub ?

Maybe we never actually saw an unknown artefact? If our ship's computers (and they can project images on our cockpit glass and sounds to our speakers) were hacked by a prankster. Even if we can see and hear them with broken canopy our the sounds we hear are still artificial in nature and if even now (2015) we can have a see through displays - it wouldn't be hard to assume our glass helmets in 3300 can be hacked to show images.

A question to Michael: are our helmets capable of displaying digital (or analog) signals? They can't be just a glass as they have same tech as cockpit glass to protect out eyesight and face even in the case we have a blown up canopy inside O-type star's corona, right?

Well we totally did over the mouth-breathing mooks that bought them from us at the black market then!

what about buying and clearing a station of one of the items.

What if something at the station is a kind catalyst that is triggering the UA to disable the station.

To make this feasible it should be a item where there is perhaps just a few hundred tonnes for sell.

I must say it: every time you post something I'm laughing out loud! :D
Same thing happens with "Who?" (... not a question...) :D

Real amusement here! Thanks guys!

Can you also add the station types to the spreadsheet? Does anyone have that info for the stations listed?

There was a test with a compromised canopy and I believe the UA was still visible but the graphic overlay stuff would not have been.

eddb.io has all the stations listed, I've rapidly checked the affected stations, and found every kind of station and outpost.
The prominent Economy Type is Extraction/Industrial but there are also other kinds. Some have Shypyards, some have not. Nothing in common.
Apart from Black Markets.

I've *just* finished going through Galnet and putting together a timeline on the technical problems! Why didn't I check the threadnaut first!
