UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

I had the idea, that the star classification may affect the malfunction of the stations. So I checked the main stars and the planets the affected stations orbit to see if they have anything in common.
To my regret I can't see any pattern but the black markets. Economy is either refinery or extraction based with the exception of Rhea.

To sum it up:

Warkushanui:
G6 and M6 stars, agricultural/refinery economy.
Station orbits an EWL with an atmosphere suitable for waterbased life.

49 Arietis:
A3 star, industrial/extraction economy.
Stations orbits a HMC with carbon dioxid atmosphere

64 Arietis:
K4 star, industrial/extraction economy.
Station orbits a Class III gasgiant.

Arawere:
F7 star, industrial/extraction economy.
Station orbits a HMC.

Pic Tok:
M3 star, extraction economy.
Don't have the system data

Rhea:
G2V, agriculture/tourism economy
Station orbits a HMC with a nitrogen atmosphere

Varati:
F7, M5 and L3 stars, industrial/extraction economy.
Station orbits a HMC without an atmosphere

Ngobe:
F and K3 star, extraction/industrial economy.
station orbits a HMC without an atmosphere

Iapodes:
K6 star, terraforming economy.
Don't have the system data.

Sol:
G2 star, service/refinery economy.
Station orbits Earth.

Diaguandri:
M1, M3 and L5 stars, high tech/refinery economy.
Stations orbits an icecube, without an atmosphere.

Nganji:
G9 and M1 star, hightech/refinery economy.
station orbits a HMC without an atmosphere

Peregrina:
G4 star, extraction economy.
station orbits Undine an EWL with an atmosphere suitable for waterbased life

Tried to find a pattern in the systems by order of malfunction, to no result, even looking at those from Merope point of view...

That's not what I heard, Lord of the cronies :D

But yeah, don't issue a KOS list unless you're personally going to be administering the pain. And even then, don't do it in the name of Canonn because I don't really want to help out. LZ has me on garbage duty and I don't have time... ah the life of a cronie.

(Seriously though, no KOS lists. We've never been about that. I will gladly KOS any Canonn cmdr with enough balls to speak for the group without consulting the membership as a whole)

My line of thinking is that we really only need to talk about it. The stations that are going down are those that have been publicly discussed as locations where UA's have been/are being sold. Publicly stating the Cease and Desist and the KOS order is just a stunt of rhetoric as it seems to me that the things we decide to talk about doing on the forums/reddit/elsewhere do tend to manifest themselves in-game to some extent.

MB says we can "stop the spread."

I take that to mean we have it within our power to stop other stations shutting down by ending the UA trade, and we all know that would really be an impossible task in game. So perhaps just by talking about the C&D and KOS on the forums/reddit/FB we are curtailing the spread.

*shrug*

Of course now that it is publicly being discussed that the KOS order is really just a ruse to try and dissuade pilots from collecting and selling UA's, this all goes out the window. :D

Experiment "Trojan ship". Log 04.

Quince - Millerport. Docked with 10 UAs. Day 14.

Station did not have any malfunctions.

Great success! It seems that the ships parked with UA, do not affect stations.
UA still do damage our ships (not the stations), but we just do not get hit. So only sales of UA affects stations.

I released UA inside the station when I left... And nothing happened. I got a fine and some CMDRs (who were at the station) were very confused.

End log.

I knew/hoped you'd say that ;)

I am literally throwing rep at the screen (because I'm out of the 'real' thing) :D
what's wrong with the rep system today? I did have a load to spread around (says he, modestly, thanks to the kind responses to my submissions) but none this afternoon - is it something to do with my Xmas lunch today? Only had two (large) Taliskers, honest guv! (plus wine, plus a couple of beers- it is the SEASONS start!!

Talisker. Can't go wrong with that choice.

Thanks for the Hobnobs by the way.

Well back to "stopping the spread."

Tools we have available:

Sell rare goods to affected stations - may have already been successful at Bond Hub.

Less concrete, but it seems the things that get talked about here or elsewhere can potentially become part of the game, what with the shut down/affected stations being the ones which were publicly discussed as stations to sell UA's at.

Any other tools available to us?

I've been thinking - If the UA can not affect the stations while in our ships, this means that the ships somehow restrain "UA infection."
Only modules - the weakest part of the ship, are getting damaged. But not the hull.
We need to learn from which metal or material ship hulls are made, and "make" a special container for UA.
Possibilities:
1) We can sell this metal (now) in large amounts, and stop the infection.
2) This metal will be available only when the Horizons will be released.

Well, I don't know much about what metals we will be using in one thousand years, but I imagine steel will still be a strong player - however, highly specialized alloys of: For instance the micro-manufactured steel-aluminum alloys some korean scientists have come up with.

So what kind of metal do you want to use to build a space-ship?

Needs to be strong, lightweight, and offer good heat resistance.

Strong and light make me think steel-aluminum or steel-titanium alloys. Heat resistance is achieved in present tech with high nickel content steel alloys. We already have the established possibility of hafnium since it is in game, and as has been pointed out, has some radioactivity-absorbing properties that are a good match for the traits exhibited by the UA's.

Have we ever attempted to see if the lightweight/reinforced/military/kinetic/mirrored armor make any difference? I wouldn't imagine so...

Care to elaborate?

Aside:

Turbine blades and other aerospace grade parts are made from those super high nickel alloy steels, like inconel or waspalloy, which surprisingly is comprised of about 60% nickel, and equally surprisingly, 0% wasp.

It can also mean that the devs have not programmed that particular mechanic into the game, and the UA to station correlation/causation is real, but artificially done by the devs.

I'd have to agree, it's the most feasible answer anyway.

Unfortunately it's just speculation as I'm not sure if we have a way to prove it or not.

We could shoot some PM's around and try to privately get a large number of UAs sold somewhere and NOT let the Dev's know in anyway shape or forum what we've done?
