I must confess, i've never watched the wings trailer.
until now... Prepare your tinfoil.

Wings trailer played at 25% speed with frame by frame, i managed to catch this. CMDR DerryBear has added Sephirius on Xbox, the account is dormant (No games, no activity) from March/Feb... the time that wings was released. Not only that, but other commanders from the trailer also seem to be on Xbox. All registered the same time as Sephirius, no activity.

All of these commanders can be found on PC except this Sephirius who only exists on Xbox.

*disclaimer* I bleed tinfoil.
Now, Sephirius could be a misspelling of Zephyrus (believe it or not, Zephyr is my old go-to name for MMOs) the greek god of the West wind. There was another CMDR name in the 1.2 trailer called CMDR West. Ishmael means "God listens" which relates somewhat to "Have you listened to them" but as i said, i bleed tinfoil. could be nothing. could be everything.

CMDRs in the 1.2 trailer are:
Ishmael
Jameson
Halligan
Kohl
West
Vengar
Sephirius
Flint

All added to my friends list. Lets see what happens!

When the word "Elite: Dangerous" pops up at the beginning, each letter originates as the following:
JVWYO IKBLNFTEG

Does that mean anything to anyone?

Letters to numbers you're looking at
10-22-23-25-15 / 9-11-2-12-14-6-20-5-7

To me, it seems like a number sequence. Could be the numbers between the initial letter and the letter it becomes. that gives us:
JVWYO - Elite
+5 +10 +14 +5 +10

IKBLNFTEG - Dangerous
-5 -10 +12 +5 -9 +12 -5 +16 +12

As the word WINGS fades in and out the letters are
KXDXK
GTZTG
BOUOB
XKQKX
WINGS
BJPTW
GOUOB
LTZT_
_YEY_

Seems that the letters contain a pattern but that may just be the way the program they used to scramble letters handles the scrambling.

Ishmael could not have made it back to civilized space in the 4 minutes of oxygen he had left. Not in a T7 that is. Unless he had the new synthesized fuel that increases jump range in 2.0 however the planet in the background of the 1.2 trailer has atmosphere and is obviously un-landable.

I do wonder if CMDR Vengar works for the people who recently have increased the selling price of the UA.
Theres only 1 CMDR unacounted for, and thats the Viper that rams the T7. all I could find out about him was that he had a bounty for 14,000 creds. Which is less than the 15,000 cred bounty his mate, CMDR Flint had. Vengar's bounty is never shown.

If anyone can comb through the trailer and find this CMDRs name, I'll give you a hug.

Back to Zephyr, there are many minor connections that my tinfoil brain can make between this greek diety and the trailer/UA mystery but the only one worth noting is that both Merope & Zeph are of Greek origin.

Good insight! I too have those names on a list.. and I check for them each time I am tracking a significant convoy. The number sequence has me slightly puckered up.. gotta give it more thought.

But Derth, you don't bleed foil. You are the foil. Keep it up! :)

I wanted to know if someone could help me out, my game keeps saying that it can't connect to the transaction server and kick's me off the game back to the menu. can someone tell why it's doing this.

It can also mean that the devs have not programmed that particular mechanic into the game, and the UA to station correlation/causation is real, but artificially done by the devs.

But I sat with 10 UA at [Quince - Millerport] for two weeks. And nothing happened.
I wrote a lot about it (notice me Sempai / MB). And nothing happened.

Is it possible that the Peregrina research station is on a planetoid that will be accessible with v2.0?

The blockaded moon is an ELW so we can't get any closer than before. I'm not sure if there is supposed to be a research station anywhere else in the system.

Mostly because Peregrina experiencing issues feels too... well... obvious.

It's unique with it's permit and plague-world, and it's proximity to the shell suggested they may be related. Anything to do with the UA's affecting stations would've first kicked in at Peregrina if they were related.

I know "not everything is about the UA's", but Peregrina always felt related. Talos 2 becoming affected just feels suspicious.

I agree, though Rizal's point about it being a mentioned sale destination is also valid. I'd be surprised if many were sold there though.

So, i did a bit of digging, tinfoiling around my idea.
Here's a google spreadsheet that summarize Galnet reports of Stations malfunctions, services shutting down with dates and durations.

The fastest shut down was Korolyov Hub in ARAWERE who was shut down in 7 days only.
Bond hub has been infected for 39days according to Galnet.

However, i don't see any clear pattern other than some systems being announced as malfunctionning in groups...

Great work putting that together. I'd be meaning to do it but...

Can't recall if this was suggest before...

Have we tried doing any audio analysis of affected stations. Perhaps listening for something while docked, or deploying a UA from a T-type to see if it morses anything interesting near an affected station? I'd do it myself but I'm 16 kly out right now.

Good start to getting another 100 UAs to my station before Horizons.

Uncle Catharg says: Don't try this at home! (unless you're insane...)

The UAs knocked out my cargo hatch from 100% health in one hit, just as I docked.

Running total: 133

EDIT: Just dumped off another 10, took 45mins, heading out to a party now.

Also, this looks mighty relevant to recent discussion

Putting on my story hat for a moment the sharp eyed amongst you have noticed a story in GalNet about ‘The Missing’. In brief The Missing is an encompassing term for everyone who has disappeared without trace in deep space. This includes colonists on the ancient generation ships, lost colonies, disappeared scientific expeditions and a host of others. Some will know from our timeline that many thousands of ‘generation ships’ left the safety of Earth beginning in the 24th century onwards, and headed out into what was then largely unknown – with just some data from probes to guide them. The process was completely unregulated, and many were not as well prepared as they should have been. In those days when faster-than-light communication didn’t exist, many of these potential settlers faced terrible risks alone, travelling thousands of light years into the black, not unlike the wagon trains that set out across continental US in the 18th and 19th centuries before them. Not all were successful at founding new worlds. Most were not. Some managed to return with tails of their adventures. Some were lost in deep space, the dead hulk of their ship carrying on an almost endless trajectory ever deeper into space. Others managed to land and survived for many decades before being overtaken by some local disaster. Some may still be alive, just restricted to low power light speed communications, or no comms at all, as their equipment has failed over the centuries in between. We say they have disappeared without trace, but just maybe some will find some traces of them that are still out there…

Hey guys I'm back finally ! Was playing fallout 4 that game was so addictive ! What did miss ? Except we know that 4 days to go till horizons goes live

How?.... I haven't managed more than 20 hours in that game and I spent well over a hundred on FO3 before I actually needed mods to keep the game interesting.

Thanks for sharing that. For some reason, I've been giving this idea some thought over the past 6 months or so. How completely alienated (pun intended) people would feel. Reminds me of the episode of ST:TNG where they find the stasis ship from the 21st. century.

Is that the one with Scotty? I distinctly remember one with scotty and a dyson sphere, though I've got mixed up memories of that one and I'm not sure if it's a fan theory or the actual plot of the episode where they put him to pasture in a shuttlecraft inside a holodeck.

Anyway another slightly topical copypasta on derelict space hulks and the dangers within... no not those space hulks full of orks or genestealers or both.

Anyway report on my AI hunt, still no luck on finding a relic. Basically at this point assume I have yet to find one until otherwise noted, if I find a mission to collect them however I will be all over that like a duck on a june bug.

Happened to me once but was successful on next attempt when I tried Solo mode. I think it happened to me when the beta server was down; suspect the servers are getting overloaded at times. Just try again.....

IIRC Braben mentioned sometime before that there are stations in space that don't show up on map (maybe on nav-list too), so if CMDR Ishmael wasn't worried about dying, then there might be such a station in that system or a system 1 jump away from there.

I think in SC such station could look as a bright dot next to a planet (if it's not in the shadow and you're moving towards it from a main light source in that system)

upd: and if it's not next to a planet, then it might be a bit harder to do it - same method we used when we only had money for basic discovery scanner to scan systems

Time dilation decreases no distance at all. Time dilation makes it seem shorter for the people inside. 1 year passes inside the ship, 100 years pass outside the ship. (that's just an example, might only be 1:50, or even less; not sure). But from outside the ship, it's still going .6c and traveling .6 light years every year of travel.

Sigh... Are you trolling?

First year maths should have you covered with distance equal to speed multiplied by TIME. If you look at the calculation I commented on, it had exactly such an equation:

"(3301-2097)*0.6 = 722.4 ly"

Do I need to explain how time dilation reduces the traveler distance or were you just trolling?

Sorry for being snarky. It's early and my the amount of screaming around here is intolerable (kids, not UA, although the kids do emit both screams, growls and all sorts of other stuff).

And about Galnet glitches - virus is evolving:
If you go on main galnet page (https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet) - you could see top news article dated 11th December, but if you look at calendar on the left - there's a 12th December square available and if you click on it you'll get the new news article - https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/12-DEC-3301

Is it a coded message? :D What does it mean? :D :D

It happens often. It means the main Galnet page doesn't get regenerated as soon as an article is added.

Yeah, release/update order seems to be size bar with dates, then main page, then in game
