LOL

the good startrek one??

when did they make a good startrek one?

news just in. it's free to play because it was/is crap and no one of sane mind was paying a sub for it!

Saying STO is crap is a little harsh I think. I was always impressed by the space combat, although the PvP was always imbalanced by that nasty Klingon cloaking technology (particularly early on). But the ground-based content was lacklustre though. I always felt that if we could have a game that mixed the space combat of STO with the ground-based comat and character storylines of SWTOR we would be onto a winner (noting SWTOR's space combat was initially so woeful).....

Well OP, this is a multiplayer only game. I'm not going into the debate what is an MMO or not. There is no changing that this game is multiplayer only. Even if you block all other players out by going solo, you are still essentially playing an online, multiplayer game.

So, you don't have time to play multiplayer only games. I'm sorry to hear that really but would you go ask Blizzard to make an offline version of WoW for your convenience?

I have never seen another game where so many people complaining that the game doesn't cater to their personal case. It's a first for me in ED forums. The first time I've seen a game is actually expected to satisfy any and every playstyle there is, be any and every genre of game and cater to any and every demographic there is. My hat's off to FD. If they have created this much expectation from their customer base, they truly have to be something special.

I really don't want to own a game with a lot of spaceship infinite space.
and only do the same good trade route over and over again with the same ship for hours.

Then don't do that dude. Trading is boring. Go do something else. You choose what you do.

But skip progression? MMO only do that a couple of years once they're desperate to get a load of new players in. You can think of cash in Elite as XP in most other games - when they give it out it devalues all the players of the previous content. They either have to nerf previous content and charge for new (ahem Destiny) or let new players jump to competitive levels (WoW pandas and the like) - I hope Frontier never have to stoop to that.

Sorry but Ed isn't a Multiplayer Online Only.

Solo plays is the way to go for me.

And If I am not mistaken Fd promised in Ks a solo play not more related to Ed server (but i could remember not right here)

What is this, Bethesda?

Someone quick, install the Macho-Man-Randy-Savage-Ship-Skin-Mod!

It can yell "OH YEAH!" everytime it lets off a round of Plasma Accelerator.

Did you really read my post? Even in solo, you are playing on the same background simulation with all the other players. The only difference is it places you in your own instance. Whatever you do, missions, trading, you name it affects the game world just as the same as it would in open. So no, this game has no single player option even if you can make everyone invisible to you and you to everyone else.

I finally managed to buy a type 6. Anaconda is just a dream as is a lot of the other ships. To be honest thats how I like it as I want something to aim for and gradually achieve, enjoying the journey on the way. Yep best I have owned is a type 6 and I have been here since Alpha, day one. Good fun though. Now one idea that would also keep immersion. A method of paying credits to hire a ship, a bit like a hire car to give it a run around and a test. Bend it and it costs you insurance. :)

I dont want to work in video games.

I already have a big job with a lot of stress.

I would like -to child out in space in single player along space trucking with a huge space ship.

You are in for a lengthy wait then.

even SC are going to want some major $$$$ for what you are asking for.

If serious OP, beta versions of the game have cut down prices for all items and ships to allow for fast testing, but are not always available.

Serious or not however, the OP raises an interesting point: why should grind be necessary in any game? It is certainly a cheap tactic to keep people playing, but then again, millions of people play TF2, counter strike, etc. and have done for years. Honestly, I almost feel sorry for the people in this thread shooting down the OP because he doesn't like grinding, as if playing a game should *require* hundreds of hours of logged play time before you can get to the fun bits. I suppose it's a generational thing but seriously kids, it didn't used to be this way!

All the ED content makers would have to change too. Obsidian Ant would have to drop his pleasent if slightly dry voice and start going "Whoooo yeah!!! Argghhhh!! Duuuude! Awesome man! Did you see THAT!!! Eat plasma death you ugly thargoid!! Arrrggghhh!! Frikin awesome! Duuuuude!!!"

At which point I would hit the start button, click on shut down and say goodbye to the world of PC gaming for all eternity.

Actually, it's always been this way for many games, single player and multiplayer both, online and offline both. RPGs have always used this, still do, and many FPS games actually do it was well, CoD and BF for example, where you have to level up to unlock more toys, or were you unaware of this mechanic being used for decades now in video games?

Hell the OP wants to play EuroTrucker in space, he specifically stated that multiple times now, and don't you have to work your way up in that game too? But he probably bypassed that, with all the mods that are out for it, so no surprises he wants to do the same here, bypass the GAME to get the best toys immediately.

I'll bet he's a blast to play something like Monopoly with, he starts off with half the board as his property and controls the bank no doubt...

What an odd thread.. 'I don't have time to play'. So why are you bothered what ship you have in the game then?

Very bizarre..

In all seriousness, if OP wants to space truck, it's not like a T6 is very expensive. I fully kitted one for about 5Million Cr, which can be earned in under an hour in certain scenarios.

Even a T7, I wouldn't say is prohibitively expensive.

OP - get a viper/cobra that can at least SURVIVE in a RES/CZ for a bit and find a wingman in a ship that can throw some damage around. Go to a RES or CZ a few times together and you will have enough for a big space-semi in about a week.

OP doesn't want to space truck though. He wants to space truck in an iddqd, idkfa anaconda equipped with a doomsday device so he can blow up the deathstar he modded in. While he's at it, he'll also download a full star wars ships and planets mod too.

If the game had any intention of going offline, none of these would be a problem of course but well...

Then OP bought the wrong game.

*shrug*
