SHIPS ARE AMMO, the entire face of the reality changes, and the world is your toy.
Thank you for stating perfectly why myself and others left..
SHIPS ARE AMMO, the entire face of the reality changes, and the world is your toy.
What did Jockey or I do this time? ^,^
What? Thats really odd. I know quite a few immigrants from EVE here, myself being one of them. EVE is a shining beacon of what ANY game should aspire to be, a full, rich world where the PLAYERS make the story, and the devs make the lore for the backdrop. Many people hate it because they lose ships. As soon as you discover that SHIPS ARE AMMO, the entire face of the reality changes, and the world is your toy.
As for SC... well.. we can dream. If its ever a reality, ill play it. If not, I wont.
I cant plus 1 you anymore for some reason. But if I could, this would get one!
EVE is going through hard times now. The user's leak is too big to handle, it's plagued with RMTeers (real money transfer) who control and chock the game for regular Joes. Also EVE is the good example when the forum driven suggestion severely damaged the game - "jump fatigue" and the developer who advocate and implemented this solution - "Greyscale" was fired a month later when the stats from billing department became available.
Wow, I'm glad I quit after 2 years.
(Launch -> 2 years in, I didn't like the way the game was going.... turns out, I was right !)
Eve has many good things too,

Well that explains it.. you want Eve in a cockpit and that is something I refuse to submit too.
And I do say devolve.. because I don't care how much people fanboy it.. . Eve isn't what it used to be.. it used to be a fun enjoyable game where those who wanted to PVP could and those who didn't could still enjoy the game... but some PVPers decided that those that don't PVP were apparently spoiling their game play.. so High Sec is now a joke and the PVP gank squads freely take out people using disposable ships with little to no fear of CONCORD.
And you may be joking, but in Eve.. that is how you had to fly.. if you were solo you were toast it was hard to do but there have been others besides me who gave up years of gameplay and loyalty and just walked away... because of EVE's inability to offer a non PVP gameplay anymore. I had so much joy exploring, finding wormholes, trading.. all that down the tubes...

Well since I'm the "resident Carebear" thought it fit ^,^
I threw up in my mouth, just a little bit, when you said "jump fatigue".

I do not want EVE in a cockpit. I want to play elite as it was advertised. If you played EVE with any expectation of it being non-pvp, you were playing the wrong game. The gank squads got worse because of nerfs to the game. Again, nerfs were introduced to the game where the players had the tools already to avoid problems, but instead took some sort perceived moral high ground and wanted to have the devs do it for them.
But this isn't EVE. And I don't play it in any hopes that it will become blob combat or anything like that. Because THAT part of your response rings true as a bell... If you are solo, you are toast. I don't wish that whatsoever .

I can't play as advertised. Because certain supposed PVPers have decided that those of us who do play as advertised are inferior, and want the game changed to suit their playstyle..
You are right, its a game. I dont see the difference between getting blown up by an NPC (they dont let you go after you drop cargo, I do!) and being stopped by another player.
Each to his own. I like to do BH in a HazRES, even tho it's pretty safe in a FAS. I like to play Warframe, even tho it's a purely Coop game. I like to play the Witcher 3, even tho it's a story-driven sandbox game where you're a total bad-ass (played right, you don't die, period). Just because you like roguelikes doesn't mean everyone else does. So, after the PVE only mode comes out... do we then do an "empty" mode, where there are no NPC's either?
Losing things is going to happen no matter what, and it should. A game with a 100% win ratio is terribly boring.
So, you do understand that some people don't want to be cannon fodder and some have no problem with it, yet you want ALL of them to play by your rules? That's messed up. And for some it DOES matter if they get blown up by an NPC or by a player. It's something that has been hammered time and time again. Again - not to everyone minds, but a decent enough number of people thinks that way and now play in Mobius or Solo. I think that's telling. And this point seems to be lost on pretty much every PvP advocate in this thread.

Also, sorry if I missed some other parts of this discussion. Quite a few posts have been written since the quoted post was made.
In ANY case... I still think there is no TECHNICAL way to enforce solo only (due to P2P constrains), so that point can be dropped from the agenda entirely, please (if it still turns up) - along with all suggestions like "boost income in Open".
As for a PvE group - at least consider the possibility of advertising Mobius some place. I'd still argue that better tools are needed for handling groups of such size (it not an actual PvE mode is made).

I think you are taking things relatively far concerning your perception of how the community sees you. I am new here, and I dont see anyone as "inferior".
As for the game play being changed... I am not advocating any of that. YOU are, in your request for a server mode that disallows and type of ship to ship combat between players. That isnt a thing, so indeed you are requesting the game to be changed to suit YOUR playstyle. Mine is already supported, so I dont need anything to change. I know you are likely talking about the ones advocating removal of solo and group, but thats not me, or anyone else who has posted in the last several pages, unless I missed one.

I guess you weren't here back when the game was being developed, when ideas could still be more freely shaped. A lot, and I do mean a lot, of players are dead set against ED becoming more like EVE, to the point a sure recipe to have a thread erupt in flames was to suggest certain EVE features be incorporated into ED."Devolved" into EVE? EVE, that has been around for over 10 years?

I doubt this is ever going to happen but if there were a true pve and pvp mode, one which was separated and commanders could not jump between I'd like to see the one where pvp could take place have far less restrictions and enjoy a lot more sandbox features (EvEish, without the total group control). There have been a heap of concessions made for the risk adverse over the years, partly to encourage people to play in Open. As you say, it hasn't worked, and those who would avoid the potential for player engagement at any cost wont even play in Open. I find that odd because for the most part I rarely encounter commanders outside CG areas and certain hubs.. and even when I do see them around my chance of being interdicted or shot at is extremely low - based upon my years of experience in game. 400 billion systems, yet the minute any player attacks someone the world is about to end.. Its hysterical.
I think the game could have been designed in such a way so that areas would have been safe to be in based upon a system security status and so people could make their choices about where they went. Risk and reward. Sadly, there is very little jeopardy in ED and I think it diminishes any sort of achievement.
People keep talking about the mobius group but it remains less than 1.5% of the player base (and who knows how many of those actively play in it). Its a rather privileged group of people when we consider how FD caters to that sort of play.
