seriously? this is the best thing you can come up with? you know there is this game, I believe its called Eve. and they have exact the same system. And its quite possibly the worst thing you can lift from eve to put in another game. In Eve this dreadful mechanic forces lot of people to stay in the same zones. And the majority of the people stay in highsec, they wont move out, and if they are forced to leave highsec they rather leave the game. and this mechanic you want transplant into ED?

Same here.
EVE ruined PvPvE for me. The only place I accept that now is STO. And that is because you have to go to the place you can do that, and click to join in (aka manually choose to take part)
More like someone who played the game and noticed with the increase ineffectiveness of CONCORD in highsec that the game is hemorrhaging players so badly they are trying any way to get new ones.

Nothing to do with that. More about how CCP is constantly playing the discount card to give as much spotlight to the game on Steam as they can.
My guess is that EVE, with its large player churn, has burned through too many potential players, and is seeing the influx of new players drying. It's usually far harder to convince someone that already tried a game to give it a second chance than to attract a new player, thus if much of the potential player base has already tried and discarded the game, getting people to purchase the game becomes quite harder.
A sale helps with that situation in two ways: word of the sale tends to spread (so more people become aware of the game) and people that thought the game too expensive might think the lower price worth paying for a try.
The effectiveness of going on sale decreases with repeated usage, though; when overused potential players start to think of the game's price as the discounted one, or to think of the game as being so bad people will only purchase it on sale. So, going on sale too much, or being offered at a too steep discount, can signal either trouble attracting new players or that the publisher thinks the game doesn't have long term potential anymore — and EVE seems to be going on sale every other month, and is already reaching 80% discounts (and 10% discounts for Aurum, which I don't remember being sold at a discount before)

BTW, $3 is because I was rounding up. By the exchange rate of the day, EVE Core Starter Pack was $2.42 on Steam until, well, yesterday.

So Frontier may have 85K Sales, that is not 825K players - due to people having more than one account.
So, again, I want to know where 1.5% came from.... as no hard information on Sales number, player number or where people play has ever been released.
1.5% has been pulled out of thin air, like every other figure Open Advocate uses.

If it shows the same for you as it shows for me, you should see that EVE was discounted 75% during the last midweek sale.
Old game plus large player churn means trouble down the road, it becomes increasingly hard to replace the players that naturally leave. And CCP was never able to fix the player churn issue they always had.
