The different structures in the trailer could be inserted just to make the trailer.
The ports from the first SRV vids in 49 Ari, were turned of during the beta. At least according to the change log.

To quote Indian Jones "X" never, ever marks the spot.

If I was going to look for a real point of interest (the kind the developers want us to find but not really) I wouldn't rely on navigational markers and tags from the ship's computer. I would study a bit the planet's geology and look at the surface features. What does the planet look like? does the surface features appear to be uniform? are they disturbed? is there a sign of artificial alteration? are natural features changed by something... or someone? Sure POIs are great for finding the game's content but I think the real detective work is what will ultimately lead to a remarkable find. That's how I'm going about looking for clues, after all FD didn't spend an awful lot of time getting very technical on planets and their features just for the sake of good looks, there has to be a better reason.

Well, that's gone and done it. Let's see what happens now.

So yeah, Walker Survey in Kagutsuchi was my station. It's proximity to Peregrina (where Talos 2 is currently suffering issues) is why I was so curious that nothing came of my sale of 200. It would've been consistent with everything we've seen to-date.

On an aside, I noticed this when selling my final UAs to Walker Survey: UA price is variable again

And though this is just two points of data, it seems to be more expensive as I go further away from Merope?

Might be worth looking into some more. Anyway, that's all the science from me. All going well, I'll be on the run for a little while now ;)

I would give you rep but I've apparently given you too much recently so have a Salted Caramel Cookie instead. I hope FD use your GalNet post / manhunt idea, it's very cool.

That's what I'm doing. Like I said in an earlier post, i don't think they are in Merope. I am currently doing a detailed surface scan of every celestial body in Maia (there's a black hole) and after going down to the surface of any I think are viable, will do the same in other suspicious systems in the nebula. If nothing turns up, I'll be heading into the deepest darkest sections of the galaxy.

FD alluded to the fact that things similar to the thing that looked like an alien base, could be found. Right now.

I am going to find one. I'll probably accidentally fly past Raxxla too and not even notice. Oh well :)

I know a lot of us are working on the theory something is coming to Merope (im one of em) but I'm gonna throw something else in the mix. Horizons brought with it crafting, one of the items is an extension to jump range. I also remember (a long time ago now) that someone pointed out a system so far from a neighbour that it's inaccessible. Maybe we can reach these systems now and maybe, just maybe there's a temple of doom hidden there.

I haven't found any other new minerals on 5c but I'm interested to hear if anyone's found anything

EDIT: the two I found were Goslarite and Pyrophillite

Goslarite

Economical uses[edit]
In the pharmaceutical industry it is used as a direct emetic, antiseptic and disinfectant.[9]

May be we need to use Goslarite to disinfect the stations.

or may be we need to make some insecticide and exterminate these bugs.

Pyrophillite
Uses[edit]
The compact variety of pyrophyllite is used for slate pencils and tailors chalk (French chalk), and is carved by the Chinese into small images and ornaments of various kinds. Other soft compact minerals (steatite and pinite) used for these Chinese carvings are included with pyrophyllite under the terms agalmatolite and pagodite.[citation needed]
Pyrophyllite is easily machineable and has excellent thermal stability. Therefore it is added to clay to reduce thermal expansion when firing but it has many other industry uses when combined with other compounds, such as in insecticide and for making bricks. Pyrophyllite is also widely used in high-pressure experiments, both as a gasket material and as a pressure-transmitting medium.[5]

LOL. During 2.0 beta 6, I was about 1kly from the bubble (in a different direction than Merope) traveling somewhere. Almost every time I engaged the FSD and the countdown timer started a POI would pop up in space but I would be beyond the point of cancelling. I'd think to myself, "That could have been something awesome and I just flew by it".

I did manage to pop into a salvageable wreckage out there, but nothing too interesting. I still don't understand why the "black box" would be illegal cargo. I mean, if you blew up a ship and it ejected the black box it would potentially have you listed as the attacker, so once you turned it in it could put a bounty on you or something, but for it to be illegal seems to miss the mark.

I also ran into a distress signal. Couldn't recognize the ship type because it was destroyed. There were a couple of canisters there but that's it. The weird thing is that after investigating it, a security vessel popped in. This was an anarchy system, so I'm not sure what kind of security they were providing. I flew past them a few times, but they didn't say anything, so I decided they were guilty of something and blew it up.

Then I ran into an SSS with a wing of a python and two vultures. I didn't have a cargo scanner but one ship was making some weird chatter about "I'm not sure about this mission" and a weird comment like "I guess the cargo is secure" or something like that. Probably standard.

The ship composition is wrong for a UA convoy but the chatter sounds very reminiscent

During beta I found an amazing wreckage in Aries Dark Region GW-W D1-52, while waiting for a SSS with the UA.
It was a huge wreckage, at least 10 ships, spherical, and there where 4 ships marked "Rescue One", Two, and so on, talking on the comms, looking for something.
There where a lot of canisters floating, like 20, and then they scooped ALL of them.
It was very interesting. They where looking for something. Perhaps just the escape Pods, as they where rescuing someone....

Just the usual Madical Convoy, it seems. It behaves like that. Like the old UA convoy.

Interesting... Perhaps you found Halsey's missing Starship One?

I also ran into a salvagable wreckage in beta with "rescue" ships, and there was comms chatter about hoping to find survivors. I can't remember exactly what was said, but I got the impression they really were on a rescue mission.

Unless it's all a code..... or the code... codified law?

Cookies?

I'm going to change out ship, go grab a UA and do some actual experiments this evening.
I'll end up in the Merope system in Mobius.

Someone mentioned that answers/hints/clue was 'before out eyes' or something like that. The -eye- missions in beta alluded to bits of literature. Merope Gaunt is a character in harry potter, noted because her eyes look in opposite directions. Well, opposite of Taurus from sol, is Piscis (ish) which contains the star Fomalhaut. Fomalhaut has a debris field that looks like an eye. I'm going to check it out, just for personal interest. Might as well let you all know in case you smart people see a similar connection somewhere.

The eye in the skye is watching us from Formalhaut!

black markets now have demand for them as we are finding out in pic tok ( prices go up with distance)

Its acting like a rare trade good now.

Another clue maybe

If the pricing really is doing this - then it suggests a gentle nudge towards selling more, and over a wider area.

'They' (the mysterious 'them') want the malfunctions to spread more before we can look at solving them.

Or... If it's confirmed that having materials on ship does slow down the rate of corrosion - then I'd be looking for a way for us to stop ship corrosion altogether.

Solve that problem and, if the station malfunctions are indeed UA-caused (no doubts any more, surely) then it stands to reason the same thing would stop that too.

So if any CMDRs have the patience to continue playing with materials harvested from planets, storing then on-ship to see if the degradation rate genuinely is affected - that'd be much appreciated :)
