I mostly know what to expect from that presentation so I skip the parts when they talking as I am not anymore into the bed time stories....Well that landing was Cool looking no doubt and most important is that is seamless transitions (without loading screen),however I just cant stand bad FM that feels like that someone glued cockpit on my screen, moves are way to fast and twitchy and landing on pad at the end was just horrible...The jewel of the night for me was part when was CR playing 2.0 well what can I said that was just funny&embarrassing especially part when he could not play with the HOTAS and after few min simply played with the Joyped(PC GAME),few min. later games refuse to work anymore and CR face expression was just priceless.........

The PG Planets with that freedom means is Atmospheric FM, that was still the normal one behaving like you're in space, they have a long way until that reaches the universe certainly, can only imagine how will it look by then.

The CR part was hilarious, it's so true game developers are awful at playing their own games, then it's ever risky play the actual live version. But dear lord, PC Crashed, then Joystick wasn't plugged in, i was watching the stream via Baron livestream and i was rolling around cause he pressed Alt+Space that activates the mouse mode then chat broke, obviously because he had F10 active, then he started making that look and i was just screaming inside "PRESS F10!!!!", for his own good the game froze. Not to talk about the guy that came to help, his "bottom" as the main feature of the livestream camera... I was just face-palming "please move on with this!".

I thought it was alright. Looks like a long way from being ready from primetime though. The timing does seem odd, as many have said. ED 1.0 was released on 16/12/2014. Planetary Landings were known to be a Season 2 thing a while back, and so it was a safe bet that they would be the lead feature of the season. It was probably RSI's prediction that ED 2.0 would be released exactly a year later, i.e. on 16/12/2015.

As it turns out, Frontier probably got wind of what was about to drop from RSI and released Horizons a day early to ensure that people would watch their livestreams and they would get some publicity before the RSI juggernaut rolled into town with some more flashy but primitive "blue sky" demos (literally in this case).

I hope that Frontier can find a way to accelerate their development schedule a bit on some of the features they have planned, as Chairman Dave's Ten Year Plan seems a little too laid-back with so many other space games soon to be jostling for drive space.

So this is the place where everyone gets to poop on Star Citizen. So much angst.

Its the place were 5 people talk about star citizen and 10 debate game philosophy, who the one true space game is and the inner thoughts of Chris Roberts. Then a certain guy chips in every now and again with crazy conspiracy theories and we all look the other way.

I just come here because Mr Nowak keeps me up to date.

No this is the place where you can read different ppl. opinions, place where the ones("Rebels") who don't like certain aspects of the SC have the right to critic and express their concerns without to fear to be burn alive from Inquisition and where the other side that glorify anything and everything that comes out from CIG ("W.Knights")keeping their side strongly and making this thread open&interesting with always fresh pictures&info's.This is the place where the ultimate truth about SC can be found and if you can't handle that maybe it's better for you to move along........

^^ Kinda is also the thread where the majority of the discussions are not about the game, as it's constantly derailed... =/

One resume of the Livestream:

The star of the show, of course, the PG prototype trailer:

Then, the trailer being actually played trough on-engine:

Then, the colossus of the capital ship Javelin:

Already blows ED out of the water technically but the big difference is it isn't live and playable yet.
ED need to up their game though because that is truly seamless and the planet had an atmosphere, albeit no weather, and the fidelity was much higher already and it is only in the early stages.

Videos are pretty cool, but unfortunately I didn't see a game yet.

Firing at things sucks, flight sucks. Explosions are cool, coridors are cool, but there's even less life that in ED now.

No for a fact it does not blow ed out of the water "technically". Technically it is a buggy demo that does nothing but ride a camera through the visuals of a landing and even then, it isn't that impressive. Technically, ED landings are drastically more visceral and well thought out than the kind of ok but mainly substandard thing CR threw together. Of course, I am talking technically. As far as your opinion is concerned, that's yours and you do with it what you will... So long as you don't try and pass it off as "technically".

Technicaly its Space engineers and Infinity that set PCG planets to 2010 to 2016 standards.
Frontier need to catch up and CIGto. And they did. Wich is a good thing.

Chairman Dave is right on schedule, while the $100m project is years behind. No reason to panic. Things take time to develop, have a look at the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mythical_Man-Month.

It's a simple graphic demo, There is no "atmosphere" other than looks, no atmospheric flight model, not even a gravitational flight model. So much for planetary landings. That was again still just a CryEnine3 asset demo: similar to what we already had 3 years ago, just with different assets.

It blew Crobert's PC out of the water as well when he was trying to play it on stream :p
That was awkward, it looked like he has seen the chat interface for the first time. How many hours did he put in testing his own "game"? Also excoriating your UI developer during a public presentation is a not very professional attitude.

but there's even less life that in ED now.

I disagree with that, because in Star Citizen you will encounter much more players in the same instance and walking around. That rarely happens in ED.

There's rumors that the Multi-Crew Update is ONLY 4 Players Total per ship or Wing. So 1 Wing cannot have more than 4 players regardless if the ships have capacity for more.

Is this a full-size seamless planet? If so then ED has to drastically up its game with social, MMO and sandbox features to compete with SC.

Frontier is playable. CiG has a demo with no release date. Frontier did catch up, CIG is trying to. See the difference? :) Hope that's playable soon but given their track record, excuse me if I don't hold my breath.

Don't make the mistake comparing what we have already over here with what will be someday over there. That doesn't work, ED progresses too.

ED does progress, but Frontier and Braben himself are against guilds, large player owned capital ships, industrial gameplay found in X3 and Eve Online. That severely limits the potential of ED.

That's actually good for me, because I have no interest in playing Eve Online.

But it's not good for Elite in general, because Star Citizen will have such larger-scale gameplay (not as big as Eve Online though). In Elite players are limited to a max 4 players per Wing.
