"So we find and breed space limpets and use them to eat the space barnacles that are growing in stations, causing malfunctions as they root into the station structure and damaging the circuits and wiring in the walls. MB said we could stop the spread NOW (in 1.4) and cure the stations SOON (in 1.5 and horizons)."

To date has anyone shot a Hatch Breaker Limpet at a UA ?

Sorry if its been done, getting addicted to this thread ! o7

Tried in 1.4... and refuel limpets and mining limpets :) o7

49 Arietis was the first System I inspected immediately after Horizons launch, having left my ship on an outpost there, waiting for official launch.
But I did just a rapid tour. I plan to go there again in a few hours, to do e deeper inspection. I remember a couple of interesting rocks btw...

Has anyone found a base/station selling meta-alloys yet? I've only seen one's that are buying.

You'll never find them sold.
They can be found ONLY in space. Some region of space. That's all we know. That does not exclude some unknown planet's surface IMHO.
And that's exactly what everyone here is looking for ;)

I remember a list in the 3rd thread about the softwares you guys using to record and analyse in-game audio to help decipher the morse of the UAs but I can't seem to find the post. What do you use?
Also someone reported if you land on a planet with a UA it will transmit the name of the body you're on is it true? I guess it might help with finding the structure we're looking for (if it's already in game) because finding them by just flying above the planets and landing in each POI seems close to impossible.

I may have done something dumb.
I'm at Merope (finally!), but having mismanaged my ship, I no longer possess a discovery scanner. (Biscuit crumbs apparently tend to short out the contacts).
I can't buy exploration data, and I see no planets.
What's the best course of action?

You may have to use the parallax method.... or you could go back to the bubble....

While you're there, could you pick me up a couple of cargo racks????

And I bet that region of space is...........

Audacity, and it's free.

I did, successfully! However, it was a bit tedious not being able to target the planets at all, even though I could touch them.
I've made more money, and I'm considering a DBX instead, now- as I've encountered a bit of an...issue with regards to the number of internal compartments.
It's either shields or the scanner!

What do you think the Meta-Alloy is going to look like?

It's under the category of 'industrial materials'
Other items in this category are: Polymers, Semiconductors, Superconductors. I'm pretty sure these all come in 'Canisters'.

It would be quite odd if meta-alloys came in canisters because they "cannot be manufactured, only found in space"....

I wonder if they are going to look like the rock shards from mining or from SRV deposit blasting...

Other ideas?

Ok. Didn't want to jump to conclusions. Just weird for stations to have a demand for something no one's found -yet-. This going to be like the first UA sighting maybe? Convoys carrying the stuff? Floating out at SSs?

This would be a much more entertaining venture if whether you pass by it or not wasn't based on RNG. Space is big. I hope some stations start selling them with local news hints on where they came from. Following clues is better than stumbling in the black.

I ran into my first UA the other day (had no idea they even existed) I looked it up on google and found the canonn educating ed livestream and this place. I had to make an account to join in on the whole tin foil hat goodness.

Welcome! It's good folks like you that ensures that we're never one short of a nuthouse!

I visited Merope 5 a/b/c without UA, and decided to pick up one and go back to Merope.
140 Ly from Merope. SSS. 1 UA. Picked it up (total 128t cargo space / all empty). 1 UA in my hold.
Returned to Merope and dropped UA near the sun (pointed at the sun). Picked it up - 1 UA in my hold.
Landed on Merope 1b. Transported UA in SRV. Sent ship into orbit. Dropped UA. Drove over it.

After traveling a few kilometers, I came across: Animal meat, Indium and Cosmetics - 3t. Dropped UA, picked up Indium and Cosmetics, called ship.

1 UA on the ground.
Drove to the ship to dump cargo...
...1 UA in my ship...

"It's probably just a bug, - I thought .- That UA on the ground surely disappeared."
I went back for Animal meat...

So, they can now self-replicate?

Warning: Tenuous Link Posting - A Pearl of Wisdom?

Ok, so maybe I've been in the buggy too long (and buggy biscuits are rot), but I caught a post about fake gems on the news...

https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/5672fe369657ba750b6de916

Just wondering if those space barnacles are at all related to clams, and as such produce pearls?

(I have a cold, I may have overdosed on medicinal whisky, and by medicinal I mean Islay)

Regarding Palin's plea for help (latest CGs) what is the official Canonn position on this? Is it to distract us from our own research in Merope? Or should we everything we can to help a fellow scientist?

Welcome to the party, help yourself to biscuits/cookies and whiskey. As someone said earlier this thread and the mystery can be addictive.

That is a response to the treasure hunt community goal problems. Probably trying to scare people off exploiting the gems for credit until they can remove the wrong ones.

"Word has reached this reporter of a massive fraud involving fake precious gems originating from the Prism system region over the past few hours. A security services spokesman admitted that they had been caught unawares of the scale of the problem and that thousands of these fakes had already been sold."

Prism is the system from Drew Wagar's book Reclamation. Probably not UA related but may be Raxxla related. I think its about time I read Reclamation again.
