UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Right then. So I've been thinking - and given that this is not a natural state of affairs for this correspondent you really should pay attention - that this here UA mystery-wotsit is turning into something of a farce.
Good old Frontier bless 'em, have laboured long into the wee small hours, burning no doubt copious quantities of that there midnight oil to bring us this, their fabulous vision of the galaxy in 330 - whatever the hell it is. And jolly glad we are that they bothered, too! Certainly I am. And that's from the perspective of a sad Muppet with the lack of foresight to have set off sooner and who now finds himself thrashing about in the black, miles from anywhere much, and trillions of miles from anywhere in particular. Who was it that said that A.I.'s had the capacity to be more intelligent than man?
Where was I?
Oh yes. The UA thingy.
Look people, the sad fact is that on the possibly erroneous assumption that Merope now stands centre stage, we nevertheless have a problem to wit: it's humungously, fantasmagorically gigantic.
I'd as lief search for a particular and singular flea on a specific rat in the depths of the Amazon rainforest back on Earth, back in the 21st Century - and I'd stand more chance of success, too!
Of course it doesn't help that certain members of the Frontier Development team- who am I trying to kid, that Michael Brookes - Executive Producer no less!- chooses occasionally to wade in with his size nines and 'help'. Muddy the waters still further that is.
So anyway, for those of you who have had the good grace (and not a little patience) to stick with me so far: this 'mystery' is effectively STALLED!
You read that right: STALLED.
Sure, sure, somebody might just stumble onto something, might just come up with something new, but honestly? If Frontier (are you reading this mister Brookes?) don't throw us a bone here, we might as well give up on this stuff and go back to our 'day jobs'. Me, I was having a nice career being a rather successful trader/explorer thank you very much.
To specifics on the mystery hunt: signal sources, signal sources, signal sources. To date they have been the only 'mechanic' that has gleaned us anything in the way of new data. GalNet? Schmalnet! Palin? Pah!
Frontier Michael Brookes, stop yanking our collective chain. Put up or shut up.

I visited Merope 5 a/b/c without UA, and decided to pick up one and go back to Merope.
140 Ly from Merope. SSS. 1 UA. Picked it up (total 128t cargo space / all empty). 1 UA in my hold.
Returned to Merope and dropped UA near the sun (pointed at the sun). Picked it up - 1 UA in my hold.
Landed on Merope 1b. Transported UA in SRV. Sent ship into orbit. Dropped UA. Drove over it.

After traveling a few kilometers, I came across: Animal meat, Indium and Cosmetics - 3t. Dropped UA, picked up Indium and Cosmetics, called ship.

1 UA on the ground.
Drove the ship to dump cargo...
...1 UA in my ship...

"It's probably just a bug, - I thought .- That UA on the ground surely disappeared."
I went back for Animal meat...

So, they can now self-replicate?
The issue is this could be a bug as much as part of the game... hard to tell.
reminds me a bit of the item multiplication bug in oblivion

This is pretty much what I said earlier.

HOWEVER:
There is potential in the Barnacle, and we're *this* close to a breakthrough, I think; feels like all we need is one, crucial piece of information.
While there likely are many that feel the mystery (ahem..Mystery!) has stalled, I personally enjoy the tinfoil-hattery more than I would a dead thread:)

Mister Brooks, we need more crumbs to follow! :D

2 days and we are demanding clues?
Really?
Do we have two states now, "stalked" and "spoon fed"?

We have hardly begun exploring the possibilities

Few replies:

1) The software I use to easy decode MORSE is Sonic Visualizer, free. Search the thread for "Visualizer" and you'll find the settings I'm using for the task. However a good hear is needed.
2) The UA on the ground morse the name of the Planet, unless deployed from ship directly, then it morse the ship's drawing. The T-ships different behavior is a confirmed BUG.
3) The CG MUST be done, and Palin must be supported. He could be FD "voice" on the UA mystery, that will help us to solve it IMHO. He'll be the one throwing us "bones". He could pop up, from his new outpost, telling us he discovered this and that, to point us to some place or some materials.
4) Spent a lot of time in Maia B planets last night. All dark, all red, yes, freaky..

Forget the two days. More like 8 months. And what we know we knew ages ago. Ok, so we had a brief bit of fun with the ship scanning and the morse, but honestly? Nothing new. No clues. Bloody Palin and his 'research'. Oh wait, the feds pulled the plug. and then what? And then something else. Followed by more meaningless drivel. Oh, and Lord High and Mighty Brookes wading in to 'kindly' tell us that the 'T ships' thing was a bug. A MONTH AFTER WE FOUND IT!!!! A month! Big bloody help he is!

I don't want to be spoon fed. I don't need to be spoon fed. I also don't need or want to be treated like a swodding cash cow.

Where's that copy of Fallout 4....

The problem is that Frontier (or should that be Michael Brookes) clearly have no idea how to 'sell' this story in a meaningful way that engages and continues to engage the 'readership' player base. No idea how to advance the plot incrementally. No idea.

Mind you I have read some of Brookes' work...

Get a grip man! if you act like this THEY WIN!

I'm not exactly sure who "THEY" are at this time but THEY WIN and you lose... WE LOSE.

Besides would you rather be a pawn in the powerplay machine or would you rather crack some mysteries. I know what I 'd do.

I have no desire to be "spoon fed" clues- I do, however, feel the need to see the things this marvelous bunch has uncovered actually lead anywhere, or be tied together somehow.
The way it is now, we have:
-the UA
-the UA's pointing at Merope
-the Shell
-the planet naming
-the ship drawing
-possibly barnacles

There might be something on the planets around Merope, but it's a hunch. Nothing the UA has done really indicates why it's pointing to the system.
(I'm still mucking about the planets there, looking)
There's been no new situation with the shell radius.
There's been no new UA behaviour.

Feels like a bunch of clues, but none really leading anywhere. Are we missing something? Have we reached the maximum amount of possible understanding with the available info?
One of the reasons I was excited for 1.5 was the possibility of new discoveries.

And now, the T series isn't even special anymore.
I'm frustrated. Not angry, not demanding, really not wanting to come across as a whiny downer.
So- sorry if my complaining is bringing anyone down, really.

Personally, I think Palin's CG might yield new info.

THEY don't win. I do. My reasoning? Well look, I've met some nice people as a result of this here mystery, yourself included in an offhand sort of fashion. I, you, 'we' continue to have a nice time faffing about in this galaxy of 'ours', but 'Their' mystery? Swod 'em. If they can't play nice, why should I? And as for pawn in PP machine: not a chance in hell.

The corrosive gases are breaking down material and transporting it to witch-space so the Thargoids can use it to rebuild their FSDs.
