Perhaps something can use Black Holes to shortcut, or slingshot, around Space?

Maia B is being studied by Palin for this perpose, but when Merope collapses then it will bring eith it the return of an alien race.

I hope it isn't player dependent somewhat because I got drugs... lots of drugs. Narcotics everywhere. Either it thinks I'm in Vice Squad or it's trying to tell me something... Got Gold too.

The more massive the star the more likely it is to leave a black hole. Something over 2 solar masses is more than likely going to go supernova and leave a black hole..... like HR1185, and Maia B. Also Merope is a B star which are known to be some of the hottest and shortest lived stars. I've said before that there may be a chance that UA's are trying to indicate that Merope's day as a main sequence star are numbered and that we should be looking there for a catastrophic event.

I guess you know about the missions in the original game? I'm thinking particularly of the mission to rescue the inhabitants of a system where the star is about to go supernova. Merope going nova would be a nice nod to the original. Since I don't have a galactic hyperdrive I'm glad I'm not in Merope atm! ;)

Personally I think it is due to the nationality of the developers. Everything in this game revolves around tea, how British of them.

Palin doesn't seem to like us, he originally turned down our offer to support his shut down research project whilst degrading us in the process.
He also shared none of his findings and research with us despite our policy of openness. oh and he has a shady government background ;)
Despite this the Canonn will once again be taking the moral high ground when dealing with Palin, all in the interest of openness and science of course!

...or just because next hints about the UA will come from FD, through Palin ;)
