Well now I'm really, REALLY ticked off.

Call the Fuel Rats!

Calling Fuel Rats would equal an infringement of the code of "never run out of gas", therefore = Delete Save & Restart

OP, believe it or not most of these replies come from adults... people who think they are no longer children... Quite a surprise!

Ok so you have morals and I applaud you for that. I also play with a point of no return although mine is a little more forgiving. If I get my ship blown out from under me I roll a D20, evens and the escape pod gets me back to safety, odd's and it's a restart... So far 3 deaths and all has been ok. It's my way of adding a bit of danger to the game.

Fact is no matter how you choose to play the game there will always be those who feel the burning desire to jump on you for doing so. Very sad and yet more proof that we men find it hard to grow any older than 9. :D

o_O, now we're all really in trouble. The fun police are on patrol...

After spending months carefully avoiding doing ANYTHING to get a fine, I'm out driving around a moon and shoot a rock for the minerals and BAM, 100cr fine for being in a no fire zone (for which there is no indicator).

13 million credits and months of exploring, and now I have to delete and restart.

There needs to be a damn indicator when you're in a location that will incur fines, and I don't just mean a little warning in the chat window. There needs to be something on the HUD.

STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM

I play ironman and will clear my save on ship destruction. After restarting dozens of times, I currently have 130 million so I'm extra careful now in combat and around stations.

For you, I would suggest that whichever minor faction gave you the fine, make them your sworn enemy and destroy their ships on sight. That way the 100 cr fine will be swallowed up with the fines for destroying their ships. You'll feel better for it and the fines will feel worthwhile.

No, starting over won't do it. The blot will still be there.

Here is what you need to do.

Exit the game
Go to and run the uninstall routine for your preferred OS.
Then use your file explorer to locate and delete all content/files of the game from your computer.
Purchase a NEW copy of the game.
Install and start a brand new player.

This will remove the blot on your character's soul. It's the safest way.

Now if it was murder... Well that involves a HD format...

Fly safe, Commander.

(very much tongue in cheek here) :)

Onward!

To clarify a little thing... I never took the fuel scoop off my ship. It was removed without notice or warning to make room for the planetary landing suite. The result is I'm out the cost of the scoop.

They really needed (and STILL need) to make the landing suite standard equipment that doesn't take up one of your equipment slots.

Mohenjo I hate to disagree but weren't all ships given a landing suite in an EXTRA equipment slot that cant be used for anything else... all my ships have it on top of what was there previously, if you don't have a fuel scoop its because you didn't equip one or removed it in favor of something else.

Every ship i own gained an internal point with the landing suite which can hold nothing else and weighs nothing...i can sell it for 500c but cant put anything else in it...

on the restart thingy... pay the fine and move on ... i got done for drink driving a couple years ago .... my first infraction in 40 years for anything.. pay it and move on that's what life's about live learn, deal with your mistakes, move on and prosper..

Nope, I'm an explorer, which means a scoop is REQUIRED. I definitely didn't remove it. Since there's no empty slots on the ship, I have to assume it was removed for me to make room for the suite.

Not a troll, it's just something I take seriously in my gameplay. I'm a trader and explorer. I don't violate the laws, I don't enter combat if I can avoid it, and I don't violate the laws! I can't STAND having a blot like this on my record, even if it's just 100cr. It's like having a splinter in my shoe, it's a trivial thing that's causing me great pain.

I agree with you, it's called role playing, and I also enjoy the life of a trader / explorer. Things like no fire zones SHOULD be on the hud etc. Now with horizons we have settlements with no fly zones and when you fly near them you get a warning - but 10 seconds isn't enough time to get out - I wanted to go in and have a look at the nice new settlements - Good job I was playing the beta and learned about this.

Good on you for sticking to your guns and restarting!

Hi Mohenjo

What we are trying to say is your guess/opinion on the removal of your scoop is wrong, or at least we are fully aware ED will not do that. However, bugs do happen and it's worth raising a ticket for you just to be sure.

Great at post by the way, did you make it to a station or call the fuel rats?

Hope Mohenjo is ok, this fuel scoop thing might have pushed him over the edge..................into the suns gravity.

indeed, my asp that has been mothballed for some months, got resurrected to fit a vehicle hanger, SRV, and a 64 ton cargo bay for who knows what I might find out there ...

When I pulled it out of mothballs all my fitout was intact, with the planetary landing suite added on...
I sold my C6 scoop and brought a lowly A2 or A3 jobby... as I tend to top up scoop prior to most jumps anyway while scanning the system and main star and now with some jumponium that should I get stuck in a bind with unscoopable stars, I can use jumponium to get me to a scoopable star without a worry...
