I don't think any of us would want it to fail, but after the work we have done, it feels to some of us like 2 fingers held aloft. Personally, I have a lot of things to do right now, and it doesn't make it top of the list, not even top 3.

Totally understandable and I wouldn't expect you guys to feel any other way. For me though, this is just one of those concessions that falls under ''It might not be the best way for this to have turned out, or to progress, but I DO want it to progress. If I currently don't have anything more to do right now, then let's get this over with so I can do again soon.''

Maybe my enthusiasm just hasn't been crushed yet, haha ^^;

Haha, I'll keep that in mind but everyone is always worth a listen. You never know what they might have to say that is interesting or useful, deliberate of otherwise haha!

Ive hammered HIP 19382 (Planet B1) for anything special for another three hours of POI investigating... nothing but the usual suspects for me...

Flew into surface features of note from orbital cruise that I could make out and nadda normal POIs.

Not ruling out somebody did find something of note there, but it sure aint got a sign on it saying im "The One"...

Just count it up as an average explorers clocking it as nothing new..

Was a Clipper CMDR out there too doing similar, couldnt get his name.

Restocking/rebuilding in Dahan atm, point me anywhere I can be usefull. o7

Well I am now officially involved in the UA/Barnacle/Merope bubble world of the Elite community! Though perhaps Canonn will not approve of how I've made my entrance?

My first steps are going to be to contribute, in a major way, to the Palin CG. My reasons for this are that I believe science goes beyond social squabbles or personal malcontent and I want to help Palin get a research base just as capable and established as Obsidian Orbital.

To that end, I implore people who have cargo space and are in the Dahan region to help us out! With only 1w and 4d left of the CG, sparing 3-4 days of low playtime for Christmas, and we have not yet even reached the first tier rewards!

I feel its important that if Palin is going to have a research centre then it is as fleshed out as we can make it.

As an aside, given that he is asking for evacuation shelters, I would hate for there to be a major incident that he caused and many, many innocents die because they didn't have enough. Worse still if there is more WE could have done but didn't

Yes it's morse. But it's the morse code that a broken Nav Beacon would emit. I mean, they are single random morse letters (M O R S E among them, in random order) separated by the typical "broken-radio" noise.
Nothing more.

The problem with any change to the galaxy that will be visible from a distance is that the change should only propagate at lightspeed. If Merope went supernova right now it would only appear as a supernova in Merope. From Maia it would still look like it does now for another 4 years. Of course they could ignore that and just have it propagate instantly but that would be horribly unrealistic (I'd say immersion breaking but I hate that term).

You're right about the nebulae though I'm happy enough to accept anachronisms as the price of getting hand-drawn nebulae. I would like to see more hand-drawn nebulae even if they are inaccurate, there are some absolutely iconic cases like the homunculus nebula (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homunculus_Nebula) that are only procedurally generated (and they've messed up the position of the star at the centre to boot).

I don't know, it would be great for the tourism industry like Millie's the restaurant at the end of the universe from Hitchhiker's.

A very good idea that the herd of sheep hadnt heard of. Group think is bad, try the califonia nebula and a similiar bubble, persueus, polaris, and perhaps anywhere else including the coal sack nebula

Actually quite a few people have already suggested AND been trying this. They haven't found anything *yet* but it certainly came up a while ago. No need to insult people's thinking just because you missed it

(I got the mission while doing the Dahan trade CG, I believe it was Shriver Platform in the Ovid system, which seems like a pretty dull place)

What ranking did you need to be to access this mission?

Regardless, seeing it like that, I'm going to guess Meta-alloys are "Just another SAP-8 container".

I've been in NGC 6357 non stop since Elite dropped. I've even got a few first discovered there. The Canonn are active in all aspects, but you realize, this IS the UA thread. Don't be surprised if people are focusing on Merope as thats where the UA points to. And again, this is the UA thread. o7

Forgive the potential applecart derailment but...

What if the glimpses of green barnacle type structures we see in the vid are not currently present, but are in fact future ?

ie: Perhaps Mr Palin does get enough shelters, and builds his lab in Maia, and performs experiments with meta alloys/UA's whatever and bang ! "deformed" barnacle structure ?

Are we working on a presumption there already is something surface wise to be found ? When in reality it may be future due to a timeline yet to be implemented by FD ?
