Some CMDRs are just mean....

I like this game, and I like being in open and see real people flying real ships and sometimes talking to me. But some people are just plain mean... I do know that pirating is in this game, and I think that is cool, it's not for me but cool. But when you drop me out of FSD, and demand my cargo but I don't have any cargo and you still start shooting me, then when I finally get out of there just to get to the station, where you met me and blow up my ship.... that's just mean.
(You know who are)

My rant comes with question, what do pirates get out of it? I know bounty hunters gets credits, but pirates?

fyl, mean wasn't the word I had in mind.... a jerk is more like it.

I love that there are people like that in the game.

People are jerks in real life, so they just make it more immersive for me. Of course, after they blow my ship up I hurl obscenities at my computer for a few minutes, question the parentage of my opponent and swear never to touch the game again. Once I've gone away and had a ciggarette though, I come back determined to improve my flying skills so that I'll beat them next time, although I haven't managed any revenge kills yet....

Question is, would a real life pirate do that?
In real life, pirates who destroy other ships would be hounded like long range smugglers. Continual interdictions by multiple ships every system they went to for hundreds of lightyears. As it is, "piracy" against players carries effectively zero risk, and no reaction from the game itself.

Powerplay, not following orders, talking too much.

Just yesterday I was attacking a Python CMDR requesting to slow down (thought I try it out again) and he refused, boosted out of my range demanding me to explain.
His fault. He jumped out to SC again with shields offline, interdicted him and boom. There, explained it for ya.

Shame there is no bounty system in this game. The guy prolly got a naff 500cr fine whilst you paid millions in insurance.
Shame there is no way to set a bounty on jerks, you know, actually give bounty hunters something to hunt. No I'm not counting the NPC bounty mission targets that just spawn when you enter the system

also doenst help that the bounty boards arnt separate for those online and in the mode/private group your playing.

i cant tell you how many times iv shadowed a commander only to pm him and sure enough hes in mobious/solo modes.

Some people are going to shoot at you. Either for reasons. Or for no reason.

If you seek logic, you will be disappointed. There are pirates who do tend to follow a fairly simple creed. And then there are people who will simply shoot at you, because they can.

Hating on pirates doesn't really achieve anything; they won't care. I wouldn't care. Chalk it up to the cost of doing business inside open. Once you realise that some people just want to watch the world burn, and that sometimes they may find you and you might die, and accept that, it gets easier.

I wouldn't want that to stop, simply because to achieve that thing would be such a gargantuan lock down, that almost everything would become un-fun. The price of freedom, is acceptance of fear and moving past it.

I persist to do most everything in Open, in spite of the risk. It's part of the attraction. Because to remove such influence, would echo what we see in reality. A reduction of freedom and liberty in return for security.

People constantly demand more repercussions. If Frontier goes down this path, it simply cannot end well.

Why did you want him to slow down? what does that matter to you if he was speeding? why did you track him down after?

I second this.

well to my understanding, a real life pirate would just find another game to crack and upload it..... oh you mean like wooden leg, with a parrot on his shoulder... from what media tell us, they attack boats in the ocean, kill a lot of people, steal whatever isn't bolted to the floor, and kidnap who they can to sell.

You don't want harsher penalties. Because this won't impact people who do not care.

It will however impact everyone else. Asking for changes from Frontier, without context, is almost always a very bad idea. Crime and punishment is a very complex concept. And based on some debates here, I'd rather Frontier keeps its own council on this, rather than listen to people whom often have very personal motives.

Let me guess, without looking through the comments, someone is going to make a reference to a certain pirate organization within the game and proceed with libel...

Edit:

Looked through the comments, I am shocked, there is none! *Dies from heart attack*

On a serious note, any serious increase to consequence of aggressive player interaction better warrant equivalent increase in criminal activities' profits, otherwise leave everything alone.

Nope, sorry, you do not have exclusive territory in this matter, not one bit, might as well get used to being part of a mass.

Edit: Also, 2.0 buffed criminal activity a lot especially on NPC side, NPC's now carrying quite valuable goods. Easy pickings.

I don't think I ever claimed exclusive territory on anything but I guess knee-jerk reactions are knee-jerk reactions.

Edit:

Yes, I've noticed the npc changes.

May I direct you to the Mobius Private Group? You can do everything as in Open ... even meet real people flying real ships ... the only difference is ... no one will shoot at you. If the do, they're ejected from the group and we don't have to deal with them any more.

Simple?

Want to know more?

https://elitepve.com/ <-- Mobius website

Go to your Friends and Groups menu and search for Mobius on your next login. Once you're accepted, every time after that, instead of choosing Open (aka. "Gankville"), choose Groups and then Mobius.

Thank you and have fun in this wonderful game!

Oh, you mean CODE? Yeah, no one likes them for obvious reasons. They drive more people to the Mobius private group than anyone.

Except in CZ, and way to call Open Mode Gankville, are you trying to invite more hostility?

pirates that conform to a code are good. idiots who go around in a wing of 3 pythons and drag you out into normal space and open fire without any ?s, demands etc. only choice get the hell out of there. they are patrolling nanomam. escaped with 34% hull
be careful out there!

A little earlier tonight I felt like sitting outside my home station and scaring the crap out of CMDR's with bounties on there heads lol. Most of them had a simple 300 cr bounty for grazing a fed in a RES site. I was sitting straight in front of the mail slot just out of no fire zone waiting for them to line up and boost in, once I saw "wanted" i would blast away with my conda to melt their shields but leave them with 100% hull just to not cause them any repairs. Was hilarious, then i would just message them to say I wasnt going to blow them up and be careful with their bounty. Most of them thought it was funny and simply lined up again to shoot into the station. It is the first time I have done any pvp other than when I have been attacked, I just cant justify in my head blowing somebody up that will have a 5+ mil insurance claim.
