Shame there is no bounty system in this game. The guy prolly got a naff 500cr fine whilst you paid millions in insurance.
Shame there is no way to set a bounty on jerks, you know, actually give bounty hunters something to hunt. No I'm not counting the NPC bounty mission targets that just spawn when you enter the system
Bounties are capped at 1 million because players would rack up huge bounties then have one of their friends collect it by shooting up a disposable sidewinder.

The whole legal system in E:D is wonky. Try a long range smuggling mission some time, system sec will not leave you alone for more than a minute and I've seen many players rage quit at having to deal with 2-3 secships interdict them EVERY SINGLE jump, for 15 jumps, then interdict them 3-5 times while in the system. Compared to that, murder is not treated like a criminal offense. Even loitering is dealt with more harshly.

But beyond this I would suggest a radical change, beyond simply reworking how the NPC police react to crimes though.

Combine Solo & Open into one game mode, where a player selects if they want their interactions with other players to be Solo or Open.

From then on, if a Solo player is attacked or attacks an other player, both players are replaced by identical NPC versions of each other during their fights. After that, neither player will ever encounter each other, added to each other's server side ignore list effectively making both permanently "dead" to the other. No more combat logging, no more complaints about unfair persecution, attacker gets something to blow up, defender has to fight off something.

Open vs Open would continue on to be the same.

Playerbase is no longer split into two (or more) groups.

Where are you guys doing these things with actual people around... I'm thinking about quiting the game because I want to do piracy again.... but there is no one to pirate. Where must I go!

pirates that conform to a code are good. idiots who go around in a wing of 3 pythons and drag you out into normal space and open fire without any ?s, demands etc. only choice get the hell out of there. they are patrolling nanomam. escaped with 34% hull
be careful out there!

Yep there's a difference.

Cap at 1 million only for each minor faction if I remember correctly.

Oh, you mean CODE? Yeah, no one likes them for obvious reasons. They drive more people to the Mobius private group than anyone.

First of all, it is The Code, if you can't even spell the name of an Organization correctly nor spin off some jocular, non-malice based name, don't bother try to appear credible.

Surprisingly Frontier Development disagrees with your claim that no one likes The Code.

I'll ignore your last statement since you already made yourself lack credibility on the subject you attempt to describe.

On the other hand, I seem to be more well-versed in Mobius rules than yourself who is attempting to recruit in an inappropriate section of the forum, so I suppose I might be more informed in terms of forum rules, as well.

Hah, when people make obvious flawed arguments, it makes my job too easy...

Why did you want him to slow down? what does that matter to you if he was speeding? why did you track him down after?

I will take a wild guess at a large dose of unwarranted self-importance. Common enough on the internet.

Having said that there are three game modes and two of them don't require a player to have any interaction with other human beings that they don't want, in fact one of them has groups specifically designed to allow people to experience a degree of open play without facing the risk of pvp piracy, homicidal maniacs etc. In view of that, I don't really think anybody complaining about pvp attacks in open has a leg to stand on to be honest - the people who attack other players are clearly getting their jollies from it and regardless of whether another player likes it or not, it's not fair to tell those players they are only allowed to have sanitised fun the way that someone else wants them to. I don't enjoy people telling me how to play a game, I'm sure they are no different.

I don't like you, and I don't like what you represent. You're an idiot that preys on the weak and then justifies it by saying "well, you're in open" ... well, I'm here to give others options so they don't have to meet idiots like you. So they can enjoy the game without 99.999999999999999% of the problems.

Welcome to my iggy list.

I don't like you and I don't like what you represent either. Back to carebear island with ye. Back to your hand holding sing alongs within your gardens of infinite hugging while drinking your wine laced with carebear immortality potions. It's this "solo mode" and "private mode" crapola that is making ED feel so lifeless and empty.

You must be devastated Fang. ;)

I'll just leave this here.. (lyrics slightly edited as I'm not sure it would pass the censors)

Bravely bold Sir Robin
Rode forth from Camelot
He was not afraid to die
Oh, brave Sir Robin
He was not at all afraid
To be killed in nasty ways
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin

He was not in the least bit scared
To be mashed into a pulp
Or to have his eyes gouged out
And his elbows broken
To have his kneecaps split
And his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled
Brave Sir Robin
His head smashed in
And his heart cut out
And his liver removed
And his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils ruined
And his bottom burnt off
And his dangly bits split and his...

"That's... that's enough music for now, lads."
Brave Sir Robin ran away
(No!)
Bravely ran away away
(I didn't!)
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled
(No!)
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
(I didn't!)
And gallantly he chickened out
Bravely taking to his feet
(I never did!)
He beat a very brave retreat
(All lies!)
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!
(I never!)

PvP is part of the Universe. Its the hot sauce on the taco, it is the cheese on the pizza, its the icing on the doughnut!

It will keep you on your toes, it will make you yearn to be a better pilot, or posses that better ship. It will give the game consequence. I keep seeing people cry about it, but as in the real world, be aware of thugs, you see a FAS/FDL or worse a wing, stay clear, jump away, expect the worst.

Feels great when you get jumped and manage to limp home with 2 or 3% hull... makes the game EXCITING!

I am far from a PvP player, but I enjoy Powerplay. So if you are an enemy and we haven't got a truce with you in Powerplay (Im Zachery Hudson, so ADL is my nemesis), I will attack you. I expect you do the same. Actually doing undermining is often so much fun, adds the feeling that you are deep in enemy territory and a couple wrong moves and you lose all your merits, your bounties and see a nasty insurance bill.

But really, if you get jumped and are in no mood for any grief, High Wake out of there..

And yea, very devastated, crying in a corner right now.

I Feel like this is something I need to get into.... are smugglers of any use in powerplay?

Okay okay, let's not fling things at one another, it isn't productive. Appreciate the support, nevertheless.

Shame there is no bounty system in this game.

That's called throwing good money after bad. Revenge is completely pointless in this game because there are no permanent consequences for anything, and the pirate can just switch to solo and relocate if he's being harassed too much. Not to mention this system would instantly enable gold farmers to operate in ED, and ruin the entire economy -- quite literally.

If you fly solo, play solo unless you actually want to fight other players (and don't mind getting pointlessly ganked from time to time).

/**** WARNING SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC ****/

I Feel like this is something I need to get into.... are smugglers of any use in powerplay?

Don't think so - each powerplay faction has a different way of doing the Control/Expansion/Undermine/Fortify component, there may be advantages to being a smuggler but I'm only really familiar with Hudson (even then only a 4 week newbie).. most my activities are combat or you can grab intelligence and pick intelligence up..

https://docs.google.com/presentatio...Em5ULsZ064bwHRPktN1eAub3Q0/present?slide=id.p

Its not profitable, so dont go into powerplay to make money, you work on weekly "merits" and different tasks make different amount of merits. Quickest way is to undermine a rival faction where you earn 30 merits per kill (can be sidewinder or Corvette doesnt matter) - usually can make 800-1200 merits in a couple hours. You get monthly rating based on your merits, ranke 4 is 1500 and top rank is 10000 (which also pays $50,000,000). Also whatever faction you choose, make sure you sub to their reddit or whichever forum they use. But yeah, its a great component adding consequence in terms of PvP which I like - that is not aimless PvP but more "roleplay".
