Some CMDRs are just mean....

I will take a wild guess at a large dose of unwarranted self-importance. Common enough on the internet.

Having said that there are three game modes and two of them don't require a player to have any interaction with other human beings that they don't want, in fact one of them has groups specifically designed to allow people to experience a degree of open play without facing the risk of pvp piracy, homicidal maniacs etc. In view of that, I don't really think anybody complaining about pvp attacks in open has a leg to stand on to be honest - the people who attack other players are clearly getting their jollies from it and regardless of whether another player likes it or not, it's not fair to tell those players they are only allowed to have sanitised fun the way that someone else wants them to. I don't enjoy people telling me how to play a game, I'm sure they are no different.

Thank you, Red. This, in a nutshell, is why the Mobius group was created. The idiot pirates don't like us who play in Mobius because that's one more potential target that they can't touch.

So, everyone who's reading this that's on the fence, take those who advocate the pirate's position with a shaker of salt.

It's nice for the guys(?) from cODER to have these kinds of posts show up every now and then. It gives them much greater exposure and a chance to preen their feathers in public. Just the kind of fluffing that keeps them going. The only good point in here is the free advertising for the Mobius group (I highly recommend it).

Saying that Solo/Group play is the cause for the lifelessness in Open just points out the complete lack of awareness evident in a certain type of player.

Personally i am not a pirate, i prefer to just kill another commanders from enemy factions and i really love the solo/private option. In this way every commander can make his choice; if you are in open you are a target. If you can't stomach this please go in solo or private, i really love to shot down combat ships (and trade ships of course but is boring).

Lol, I know you probably won't read this but you are embarrassing yourself.

Edit:

It's really saddening that you don't know what I represent nor what I stand for while claiming that you do, but since you're likely not an administrator of Mobius, I don't blame you for your ignorance.

Aye. If your opponent fights back it gets exciting. Can't tell that about imperials :D. Anyways i also just let certain ships pass by for example everything bewlow a T6 because these ships are just not worth my time.

I get the feeling that you didn't actually understand the jist of his post.

Well, yesterday I was flying my underequipped Python trying to make some money for better gear when I got interdicted by bored kid in a Corvette which immediately opened fire on me. I was faster so I outboosted him, even though he tried to fry my Friendship drive which malfunctioned several times:)

Still did not come to cry here on the forums, that is a part of the game and psychopaths and adult babies are in real world too;)

(Sure I was angry but that is ok, it is part of the Elite experience)

PS.: I expect someone to cry that corvette is too slow and smaller ships can outrun it and that it is unfair:D

Meh, after a weekend of "interacting" with other players, I've gone back to solo.
From outright cheats (the guy who managed to kill me without triggering the Friend-or-Foe code while still appearing on my radar), to "Bounty hunters" just seeing the wanted sign and attacking without scanning (EVERY time I clipped a friendly in combat, some CMDR thought that was a perfect opportunity to attack), to understandable but annoying Powerplay interdictors (enough to make me just drop out of PP completely; too much hassle, not enough reward), to plain old psychos with no reason to attack other than they can; the most amusing of those was an "Elite" rated FDL pilot in a gold FDL that I consigned to the void.
On top of all that, earning potential in solo is greater and more consistent, as you're not having to compete with other players or share the rewards with wing members.

I don't know exactly what, but FD need to do something to make Open appealing and not just a gank-fest. Solo just beats it resoundingly in every respect at the moment, including actually engine-wise too, as jumps between systems are noticeably faster in Solo compared to Open.

bounty hunters don't get credits.

Pirates don't get cargo.

The system is incredibly broken.

It's cops vs murderers. Now with :):):):):):):) instancing

one little detail is missing in Solo: who are you going to brag about killing in there?

If your only goal is to make credits, then Solo it is for you. If you want to live in a dangerous Elite universe, then Open is the way to go. Where do you guys fly that you meet so many commanders? I operate around Kamadhenu, not some fringe sector of space and there are not a lot of commanders there and only very rarely a mean one.

I've got no problem whatsoever with human pirates, although I do end up laughing uncontrollably at players who interdict me and bring their mates along, so I'm vastly outnumbered in my smaller ship, and then proceed to threaten me for no reason. I just submit and cut my engines immediately and they're like 'CUT YOUR ENGINES!!!' (I already have but they need to feel like they're being threatening. Such high maintenance people). These guys just crack me up as they then proceed to get close and nudge my ship - they think they're being really tough by vastly outnumbering me and speaking 'nasty'. They think they're causing me so much agony and uncontrollable pain - when I'm just having a laugh at them.

I'd have a vast amount more respect for a player that interdicted me (by himself) in an equal ship and then proceeded to challenge me to a fair duel.

Always remember to have a laugh - especially at the stupidity of humans.

Solo play is for people who just don;t want to deal with other players. For what ever reason. Credits don't have to be the reason. Being able to peacefully go about what interests you makes gaming a nice escape from the rest of the world in general. Trying to reduce these issues to a pinpoint serves no purpose.

You are right, there are commanders like that and that is completely ok, I should have used quote. I was replying to Mungrul who posted that there is no reasen to go Open when in Solo you make steady and higher profit.

The problem isn't open, it's the people in your time zone.

Where I live, all the people must be reasonable human beings as all my PvP encounters have been downright honourable. Worst I've had was being interdicted by a wing, losing engines, and being let go because they just wanted to scan for slaves and I had none. I met a CMDR interdicting in my power's home system in a battle Orca for lols, and he left me alone because we worked out we were from the same city IRL. On the other side of the coin, I've interdicted CMDRs pirating at CGs, and let them go because they were polite.

If you have a problem in open, more to Australia. Or New Zealand, if you like sheep/hobbits.

This might be it, I play in European timezone so players are just nicer, and people complaining are from Murica so understandably, that timezone is just atrocious and I believe them :D
