UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Conservation tells us that both biscuit and tin would be "preserved" in a holographic state at the event horizon... I'd just as soon go buy more at the store than trying to go pick it up where nature divides by zero.

Holographic biscuits tastes flat anyway. I wouldn't bother.

Alright guys, story time. I went out to Maia in Pleiades last night and met this CMDR in a Courier in open play last night. We spoke for a bit and we went to land on the planet next to Obsidian Orbital. He dumped a UA right in front of me then promptly told me he had to go. http://i.imgur.com/U4z5vg6.png Now I have a UA and no cargo racks to pick it up, suggestions? Should I analyze it?

That was me. Sorry to dump and run. Was already late at the time.

What i have been doing is driving/flying ua around "shell" planets looking for points of interest. That would be a good start, although with no cargo ud be limited to driving i guess.

Along those lines. Nothing to report so far. Ive hunkered down and gone back to timocani mode. The only thing i have conclusively noticed is there is an abundance of tea canisters in the shell worlds.

I just realised that they have updated the stats page...

Judging by the amount of time I have spent in game (even after having a couple of months away from the game between 1.3 and 1.4), I can only wonder what the stats from some of the people who frequent this thread have accumulated.

Respect for your highest payout there :)

Thank you, I think that was one of systems with an Earth Like world where I got first discovered during my expedition to the Heart & Soul Nebulae.

I plan to go on another expedition to the outer arms soonish now that we have Horizons 2.0. Just need to find a few key materials for a couple of level 3 FSD boosts first.

EDIT
I am missing Arsenic, Yttrium and Polonium. I need two of each + 3 more Niobium.

I'm at about 3w 6h of gameplay, and I wanna guess that at least one solid week of that time has been spent working with the UA mystery.

THAT makes elite worth every penny, for me. Haha. Love the fact that even when I'm not playing, I'm still constantly thinking about the damn thing. Same with Horizons as well, I've yet to even take a mission that involves planets...let alone even seen an actual station on the surface.

GG FDev, GG.

Got some work to do today before I start venturing back out (assuming my DBX isn't covered by barnacles seeing as I parked up at Obsidian Orbital last night). Going to see what comes about from scouring WSS and USS in the shell.

I saw in the patch notes they fixed the issue with cargo holds in POIs not releasing items when shot. I ran across one a little while ago and was able to get a material of it that I didn't have before. Looked like one of the more rare ones judging by the graphic next to it.

Hi folks. I'm new in here, so don't really know if i'm helping or distracting, but i just met my first UA and decided to take some 4k pictures. Maybe you can see something interesting on 'em, i dunno. Keep in mind that this little guy is down to 4% health or whatever it has due to me being curious xD I have no clue if that affects anything or not. http://imgur.com/a/CBRTS

I've been exploring with my SRV near the shell, having fun figuring out how the scanner works, but I've come across a weird signal that doesn't lead to anything. The signal gets stronger and more compact as I get closer, as I expect, and then suddenly it's gone with nothing to show for it. I tried circling around, looking for anything of interest, but it's just a bare patch of nothing.

Has anyone else encountered signals like this? I've attached a picture of the spot and signal on the scanner:

If anyone is interested, I also recorded a bit of the sound that signal made. It sounded very radio-static like, fading in and out of strength:

Are these normal? Someone said something about UAs underground and it made me wonder... Is a barnacle going to sprout there?

Have UAs been spotted here before? Or is this just too far out?

Isn't that an outcrop/meteorite/mineral right there under your crosshairs? target and shoot it for materials that may be what you scanned.

I jettisoned the UA on the surface of Merope 1 D, then scooped it up with my SRV, then jettisoned it again. It isn't degrading anymore, so either it's a bug with being jettisoned from an SRV, or this is intentional?

Nope, that's just a scenery rock. I drove around that spot for a while looking for anything, but found nothing that could be targeted. In the screenshot if I move just a tiny bit forward, the signal disappears, like I'm right on top of whatever is supposed to be there.

Unless I'm doing something wrong?

Someone else will have to confirm, but I seem to remember reading in the thread recently about that behaviour being observed.

Edit: Meaning, someone else posted about seeing that behaviour and wondering if it was a bug or intended.
