Sorry if this has been asked. What does a UA point at when dropped in Merope? Is it the star or a specific planet?
Points to Merope the star

If you throw a biscuit into a black hole, then you're a incorrigible waster of biscuits and likely to be shot by the good folks from Lab 69.
I've explained my scepticism of "barnacles == UAs" before. I'm still unconvinced. I feel a certain degree of deja-vu from one of the earlier threads where people seemed determined to conflate the disappearance of SpaceShip One with the UAs. Perhaps they are related, but we still don't have any evidence to suggest they are. Maybe my position is partly wishful thinking as I'd hate for all these various mysteries to end up being all the same thing. ED would be much more interesting (and realistic), IMO, if these various mysteries are not related.

Could you update & enlarge the pic please - it's not legible.
Me too, if it was a plain chocolate hobnob!![]()
Previosly mb has prev said the UA degrading and ultimate destruction is a feature of the device.
The ua does not do this when jettisoned from and srv. Is this another feature, or an inconsistency?
Been re-watching the Horizons launch trailer for some 'clues'
It appears to be a story in the video - of two explorers travelling across an inhabited planet.
They drive off into the distance with the red/orange sun getting further behind them....

Could these be clues to locations - inhabited space, the sun type, the surface type, the nebula?
Worth checking?
Well, it could be FD telling us to get on with finding the cure. I haven't had any response to my post about using some of the new (in 2.0) commodoties to see if they do the trick, so I assume everybody's too busy off searching for Barnacles
...
I'd imagine the locations wont be half way around the galaxy randomly as this would add a lot of travel time to making the trailer...
Am I remembering it wrong or did the devs state at some point before horizons was released that stations could be cured by already present in-game means (i.e. no new commodities needed)?
Waking up from fevered dream, orbiting Merope.. my entire being is telling me to run. This place smells of impending doom...in the dream a hand reached and a light broke out and a thousand star systems boiled in the heart of a demons maw...
I had my fair share of super novas back before I was defrosted and I don't intend to experience another.
Could the shell indicate a minimum safe distance! I hope not.
This UA / Meta alloys mystery has me paranoid. Various factions know things I'm sure of it... are we in the middle of a secret arms race!
Maybe I need to take a stress pill and go for a walk...Where's my tin foil.. why is there so much tea in this system!

That had crossed my mind quite a bit. In Beta 1 and 2 i think there was no degrading of dropped UA, i remember that was changed to it does degrade as i tested that in beta 1.3 or 1.4 i think.
Now they made it not degrade again if SRV dropped. Then put back in when main horizons released. Strange ?
Great work, i just re-watched the trailer too to see if anything else may give clues. You're 2nd screenshot shows the LMC as someone pointed out, but during the trailer there are other clues i have noticed.
It does depend on if the trailer is a mix and match of different video's pasted together from random locations or if there is a story.
I'd imagine the locations wont be half way around the galaxy randomly as this would add a lot of travel time to making the trailer.
Look at 23-25 seconds into the trailer. That is a location,. Using galmap to get the angles of the nebula and positions i shall head over to that area to explore with my Asp.
Red loop of Banards loop is clearly visible from a side angle. Small Flame nebula is visible within the loop. Just below down left in the trailer Orion Nebula is visible in red and black.
Just over the horizon at 24-25 seconds some background galaxy is clearly there too , a good galactic marker. You know the one , probably has a name.

With these landmarks i shall head to the region and see if i can narrow the location down some. Starting at HD 41383 and triangulate points and orientation from there.
Pupis Dark region B also looks like a good location , but long long way to get out there from where i am. 3000lyrs+away
Unless different specified by MB the trailer is a merge of different scene for sure, even if watching it like this seems like the 2 explorer are running away with a secret and others are trying to catch them.
But if this is true, at the end of the video they are running away from a Planet that seems like to be Europa..... and this does not make sense.
Also I wouldn't think about how they could be here with a Eagle or little ship, god mode helps for these thing
But I'm impressed and I don't understand how you guys can be so sure for the video location..... I mean I watched the video many times, but I cant see a single clue that give me an indication of the location....
It worth to try I'm not saying this, but I'm really interested to know how you guys triangulated these info. Tell me lol
What has been said by MB pre-Horizons is that we can "stop the spread", not that we can cure it.
That said, now that Horizons is out, it may be now that we can cure stations.
Or later, depending on story arc development we're not yet aware of.
Yes. And Military.
But the only Meta-Alloys mission found until now, was found on a Planet in Ovid System, Hi-Tech and Refinery![]()
Heading there now as well, Roy Fokker is my name (space in front).15 mins work once i had spotted the only visual clue i think,23-25 seconds in the trailer is only location clue i could gather., Red nebula's close by, yellow small nebula in the middle. Looked familiar even from the viewing angle but I've traveled a lot as Elite explorer.
Was just a matter of locating the right nebula which didnt take long as all the clues match. This just gives a general location in a very large area still. Heading there now ETA 2-3 hours to refine the location from the size of nebulas to get a better range
Am I remembering it wrong or did the devs state at some point before horizons was released that stations could be cured by already present in-game means (i.e. no new commodities needed)?
