UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Yeah - it was just a guy that came along and said 'I've found one of these things in X system'...

I don't believe they were a lurker either.

On the relevance of the 7 sisters and all that jazz - with so much human mythology surrounding the Pleiades in general, there are many tenuous connection we can make, and many subtle references FD can give that feed the hysteria. Whether any of it is relevant I don't think we'll know till a lot more of the mystery is uncovered.

I'm still trying to understand why the Wings trailer shows them getting picked up out in the California Sector, when we never found any evidence for then being there. Most likely just artistic license on FDs part, but if not, then Merope isn't an 'origin' but more a place of interest for the UAs themselves. That could either be a good thing, or a very bad thing!

I would Rep you but the Rep gods said no.

I am banking on it being a bad thing, though that being said it does call into question why Morse? If these things are hostile then why would it use Morse to communicate with us, if it is trying to talk to us and if not to another hidden part of it's self in Morse only makes some sort of sense if its of human origin/relation and that's all it knows.
If it's not hostile then why the pictures of ships and why highlight important modules locations, though on that one it does need to be confirmed by getting the other relevant ships done in the same way the anaconda was and i will be getting back one very soon just trying to get my self a couple o days where i am not going to be interrupted by RL.
I have a few ideas with regards to the pictures but getting the rest of the ships done will be first, now seams the time do it as there has been no change to the UA behavior ( much to my surprise) and there don't appear to be much else going on apart from the Merope survey and Barnacles hunts.
Will be asking for help on the ship thing in the next week or so.

So Peace Love Biscuits Have a good Chrimble People.

Lets not assume that the UA is purposefully communicating with us. If anything, the UA is reporting us to the mods via Morse code, and simply aligns its antenna to a secret Forward Comms base in Merope.

Oh ya.. in this scenario Mods are Thargoids.

Scientific research is one thing, scientific research selling for 120k with that flavour text is new, and conflicts with the image i posted before, so I'd really like to see that. The screenshots of scientific research in NPC ship cargoholds could just be the one worth a couple hundred credits.
In the beta I noticed there were both normal and large data packages you could find in space as (illegal) salvage. The large caches were substantially worth more than the 'normal' small ones.

This might be something similar.

I'm just back from the Crab nebula and found nothing of interest regarding UA or Meta alloys.
Spent a lot of time in super-cruse in interstellar space (not in frame-shift jump) between star systems, nothing.
Checked out the areas between gas giants and their rings(in normal flight), still nothing.
Even let myself get dragged into the danger zone of the Crab Pulsar to have a look, still nothing.
Went as far out rim-ward as my 33ly Anaconda would take me and spent a few days on the edge, nothing.
Currently offline and docked at Obsidian Orbital.
May head back and check the Hades sector a lot of brown and red dwarf stars I didn't check
Did you land on any planets?

The meta-alloy description suggests it's the stuff 'barnacles' are made of, so you'd think they'd be growing on a planet that can support life. Of course it not necessary like life on earth, so the 'requirements' could be anything.

But let's break down the description:

"They are cellular in nature, and formed organically": OK, we know they're grown.

"Many elements form the structure so technically they are alloys": Needs a source of minerals / metals? Rocky metallic worlds?

"They are good thermal insulators, and have a high melting point": Somewhere hot?

Ice planets might have water (life! oxygen!), but they might be too cold. A few places I've been have 'silicate vapour geysers' (no actual geysers seen though) in their description. Silicon based life?

PS. If you haven't experienced it already, watch out for 2G+ planets. Your craft really drops out of the sky if you're not careful. Went from 100% to 53% hull in one botched landing at full shields! And the poor SRV struggles to climb those hills.

Did you ascertain what Power this belonged to? e.g. Intel package for XXX? I have a hypothesis (one of several) that this CRP6 (I think I've seen a CRP9) is a military equipment numbering designation, to which the UAs (their reported VID8 morse signal) & SAP8 containers also comply; the implication is that they are all sourced by one Power & the UAs are not of (solely) alien origin.

Intel package for federation.

n.b. the numbers I was referring to are 31-8-2 19-20-2 38-89-9 12-21-15

I realy don't think Merope is anything other than a nice brigth star that the UA uses to check it's possition.

The UAs did not start to point to Merope until they moved to the shell (1.4). There is no reason to belive that the UAs are transmitting to Merope spesifically.

If you want to make a ball of individulal dots, each dot must know where the center of the ball is.

Just a quick note on the mythology angle.

It may or may not be a coincidence that Merope married a mortal.
Just happened to be Sisyphus.

Still, persistence is a virtue. Keep at it ;)

Interesting,,,, Is it possible it's up to us to grow them? I wonder if putting a UA buy the persistent wreck of the Anaconda mentioned previously would yield any results?

Perhaps the UA are not damaging the internals, maybe they are feeding off them?

Interesting fact Merope is a unique star it has it's own nebula The Merope Nebula also known as Tempel's Nebula and NGC 1435.
It appears Merope crashed into a supernova remnant and kept it, no other star has this.

I thought that one a while ago, they are like fungal spores that need outside energy to get going

EDIT: because i can't spell.
