its really cute how so many people are just like my 4 year old niece...

"I WANT MY Aurora doll because it was on my list to Santa... and he didn't bring it so I'm mad at YOU"

all the while auntie and uncle decided to keep it hidden in the bag until she started behaving nicely....still in the bag 3 days later...lol

all the rage-quit lately has been very entertaining, this expansion just launched and we act like children because we cant find a stupid barnicle......let the story unfold.

no wonder the thargoids don't want to make contact with us

I don't feel any rage at all. I do feel like we are all wasting our time and being drip fed by FD and misled with a pretence the game presently offers something that it doesn't have.

As I said previously, the only real significant and more importantly TANGIBLE thing we have seen re this is the UA.. which was found a Loooooooooong time ago. In that time we have really discoered NOTHING and little has been added. FD are, imo, milking our enthusiasm on this issue (and for many a long term player this is all thats worth playing for) whilst providing ZERO real content for gameplay.

I'll happily eat a sock if I am wrong but as it stands there is nothing to find and we are being deliberately misled to believe there is content in game to find, when in reality there is not.

Funny, I had this thought too the other night. I was thinking we could get together a central list of all the new materials, and cmdrs who have picked up materials in their srvs could test with a UA and cross them off the list. Perhaps an organised mass effort to test all the items. Maybe there could be UA deliveries, fuel rats style - UA rats. So, say a CMDR finds a new material, he/she can look up the list, see it hasn't been tested yet and call out for a UA, which would get delivered and if the material has an effect it should show up in the SRV. If not, it gets crossed off the lost and everyone continues on their way.

@LZ I can't help thinking that your selling UAs to stations thing could get fed from this too - once the UA has been tested it can be dropped of to whatever station you're focusing on. Then we get two things tested from each UA.

Any of you Fuel Rats out there think you might like to bring your expertise and organisation to bear on this? - UA Rats could be a long term thing to facilitate UA testing

I think this would be a useful experiment with the objectie of learning a little more about the UAs themselves, however I don't think it is relevant to the problem with degraded stations since (as far as I understand the game) materials can only be collected & held in the ship/srv & cannot be delivered to a station (but perhaps this could also be tested by someone? perhaps if a material is discarded from a ship while docked in a station then it counts as delivered to that station?)

Otherwise the only in-game mechanism we have to affect stations is delivery of commodities to them (e.g. the Heike tea cure for the plague in 1.3); since we were told the ability to cure stations would be available "soon" & this was in 1.4 then to my mind the most likely station cure is to be found in delivery of some of the commodities that are new in 1.5/2.0 (Derthek posted a list on 19th December). If we work on the hypothesis that FD have implemented the UAs as somehow related to the space barnacles (a working assumption, but it has merit due to their similar physical appearance to the objects shown in the Horizons release trailer clip) then possibly the most likely new commodities to have an effect on UAs & their "infection" are those that have biocidal effect in RL-Thorium, Thallium, Cryolite, Nerve Agents, Synthetic Reagents, though with FD sense of humour Bootleg Liquor is also a possibility. Muon scanners seem to be an oddity & not related to anything else in game, so I suspect we should add that to the list of commodities to be tried against UAs/infected stations.

I expect that someone will not stand, and open the game files (not folders) one day, to make sure.

Well said. :D

SOCK detected!

I discarded some Materials in Station while docked, but it was only common stuff like Iron didnt notice any immediate effects besides a little less materials.

The Material mechanic is rather odd, wondered myself why it cant be sold maybe it gets more uses when crafting is thing.

On another Note, i did find an awful lot of crashed Probes (they looked a bit like the Voyager with an Satellite dish and 4 Solar Panels) the last 2 Days, means probably nothing but why where there so many and all gave Intel for the Feds.
Only common thing i found them all on High Metal Content Worlds and they where still active couse a Light was flashing and it made some beeping noises, clearly the Feds are looking for something :)

Scarily, I was using the markings on the UA as a roadmap. Today I jumped into my last Map point. I've only just started searching the system though.

Roadmap?

I honestly wish you luck on this lead!

It MIGHT be constructive to know what everyone's up to so people who only follow this thread but otherwise not in contact with the rest of the group (TS) might share relevant info with the right people until we find something that worth posting here.
It could also save us time if we know what wouldn't work or what area was found totally empty.

I'm still trying to check on the horizons trailer skybox lead and after about 10hrs flying around i think it's totally doable. The skybox can radically change even after a small jump (20Ly), so the exact spot can be found with 100% accuracy but it takes quite a long time. Especially since the trailer skyview is pretty blurred.
If anyone else is after this "lead" I could send you a bunch of systems I marked as milestones so we wouldn't make double checks for nothing.

Also I STILL think the snooze sound the UA makes is relevant.

Land.
Deploy UA from SRV.
Depart and float above the UA you'll hear the snooze and there is NO morse! I think it's the only "silent" state of the artifact.
One thing that came into my mind only after flying 1.5K Ly away from the shell was to try placing the UA where it has a direct line of sight to Merope and see if it starts to transmit morse again, as we already know if Merope is obscured the UA will do this morse-less transmission.
I wanted to go back to the shell as it only takes about 40minutes to make the trip. But I'm rather close to the trailer system so I spent all my time trying to find the spot.

Even worse my girlfriend just arrived and due to work I won't have time to come online again until 30th of Dec.

The biggest mystery for me is what I'll be doing in a month's time.

Last night, I had lots of fun Bountying, next time I might do some more CG, or some UA harvesting, who knows. Might wing up with someone, do some Varati missions, or just buggeh about.

This likely to be an incendiary statement, but I find the lack of patience elsewhere tiresome.

Indeed.. perhaps I'll start my own group, with a thread called alike, and start flogging t-shirts too. Game on. :/ But whilst not trying to be inflammatory why is this thread labelled Canonn? I could have missed something, and a apologies in advance if I have it wrong here coz I'm pretty sure you don't own this thing bro.

edit: I'm sorry if I'm being miserable and spoiling the atmos.. I'm as keen and as interested as everyone else but there comes a time...

Read the first page of the thread for a short introduction. Please notice the name of the second poster. Lord Zoltan has nothing to do with starting or naming these four threads. He is just works here :)

Edit: It's us (the Canonn and other active posters) that has blown the UA mystery out of propotions. FD hasn't realy commented much at all.

What I do see as a problem is that it's a single shot without explanation. Why no other angles? Why no shot from inside the SRV showing what the game calls it? Why no location? So coupled with the fact that part of the image is apparently lifted straight from the trailer video, the likelihood that this is legit is extremely small.
I totally agree. If I found one of these things then I'd be taking screenshots, video and yelling out on any communication medium where I was and for people to come join me.

Don't do a Tfaddy! ;)
My opinion is that we're all getting wound up tighter than a clockwork toy and need to unwind a bit. The main dev team behind any storyline are most likely on holiday break so we should wait until we know they're back in the office before giving them both barrels of our collective ire.

What I'm saying is that we need to step back and take things easy for a few days, then start applying pressure on FDev in the New Year for a clue or at least an indication of which stones we should be looking under.
Seeing an increasing number of people turning away from a storyline they've spent time creating must surely be setting off alarm bells in FDev.

Has anyone popped a UA on the ground and blown it up to see if there are any harvestable resources?
Yes I did, and there were no resources. When a UA decays, it explodes with a distortion, lots of "chaff" and a falling away sound like something zooming off into the distance. UAs don't seem to decay on planet surfaces so shooting them is the only way to "kill". The problem is that shooting a UA doesn't give you the "proper" death event.

So as politely as I can ask.. Can we get some confirmation from the developers that we aren't all wasting our time?

They already have...kind of...listen to what he says at 3:01:35 in their archived livestream:

"All that stuff is out there and you can find it when you explore..."

I take it that everyone read the Galnet News article the other day?

Well, the new base, Pavlou Keep, is now operational on Maia B1D.

After destroying the ship defences and the drones I couldn't get the private data port to give me any information unfortunately. This is probably due to the data mining bug as I've never been able to get information form these devices.

However, the sound from the data port sounds to me very like that from the UAs, though it may just be my imagination.

I'm a MASSIVE fan of Chris Gregory.. ever since that video diary which went over the creation of the Damocles vid. I can't express that sentiment enough, and Chris if you are out there and listening, o7 Commander!.

Okay, I had my little rant of frustration and I hope people get where it comes from. I'm NOT trying to bash on ED at all, I do really like Horizons but points I've made still stand.. I shall leave it there for now since I've made my case and so on.. Lets see what happens.. :)
