I gotta say that I dont think there are any mysteries out there.. Its a sad sort of situation where people get frustrated and start trawling the game files. I can do that, but I really dont want to. But I have had a look and unless there is a heap of stuff totally obscured and obfuscated then there isn't that much presently there.
As far as I am aware no one has found anything significant re POIs.. Large ship wrecks remain elusive and I'm rather bored of finding canisters of tea and coffee - which are apparently points of interest. I don't know whats going on at FD. I dont know how much time and effort it took to do the height maps for the planets.. I defend the game and tell people that Horizons is great, and I do like it a lot, but there comes a point when we might have to ask ourselves, or more importantly, ask FD where is the content?
I've been playing a long time and when it comes to Horizons, it would appear to me at least, that this particular stage of the expansion is centred around exploration.. So we kinda need things to find. I play a lot and the're arent there yet from my experience.
I'm more than happy waiting and I am patient but I do call out David when he said a while back there were things to find we hadn't.. I don't believe that any more. I think we are being led on a wild goose chase and I say all this because I value my time.
So as politely as I can ask.. Can we get some confirmation from the developers that we aren't all wasting our time?
Coz if this stuff isn't really in the game, I can still enjoy it, but I can spend it doing other things.. if you get my drift.
Unfortunately I need to echo much of this sentiment. I am also not here to detract from other's enjoyment of the various roles and the fact that you can do "anything you want". The original E

game was certainly worth the money, though as many have stated, getting ahead seems to relate to in-game money; which normally involves a "grind". I made my money by trading, then destroying ships at conflict zones, ranking to level 5 with A.L.Duval, then bounty hunting at res sites. Got my anaconda, equipped it fully, tried a few other ships. I have had a few friends who could simply not do the "trade grind" and as such focused on combat. For those of us who traded, with larger, better ships, we were then able to do more combat missions and experiment for fun with other roles. Without an objective in-game, amassing money lost its purpose, so activities such as mining, bounty hunting etc. no longer served a purpose. We turned to Powerplay, which certainly has potential, but seems to need some work as individual influence seems quite minimal (just my opinion, I've heard otherwise). Therefore what brought me to the UA mystery was a sense of something to do which can add an element of game play - a new species perhaps. I folled the UA threads daily, joined the canonn.science website to get the latest.. and followed the UA progress. Horizons was certainly not an inexpensive addition and I'm trying to see it as an alternative to monthly fees. I'm also thankful that there is no "pay to win" scheme here. However, the UA progress has been slow, and F.Dev seem to be pulling the strings and the breadcrumbs seem to be more and more spaced out. If progress relies on thousands of people "going through a grind", it is important to note that the payoff should be of decent interest to all, or the "grind" will not have felt worth it for many. I suspect most, if not all people here are looking forward to Thargoids, but if F.Dev only sees adding them years away (perhaps 3.0 or 4.0), then the current game play will likely not be enough to keep a large percentage of the community. If the game does not keep the interest of the majority of players, then F.Dev will never have the resources to continue with their ambitious goals. Using the argument "then this game is not for you" seems to be said by number of adamant fans who need to recognize the growing number of players who feel there is simply not enough to do in-game. Losing the masses will have a huge impact on the game's potential, and there have already been many who feel Horizons should have been released with more content. I myself call it "E

rock & tea finder" after several weeks worth of doing my best to enjoy it, the very infrequent glimpse of a crash is not enough reward for having spend hours finding rocks.
I really hope that when the barnacles are found that there is more to them than blowing them up and harvesting the meta-alloy for sale. I suspect that since the scanner in the SRV has both an audio and visual component, there is more information which can be obtained. However, we all have our doubts as just how much "grinding" will need to be done, and even if F.Dev have the "reward" in place already or if it is still "to come". They seem to want to build the sandbox bigger and bigger, but not add much sand. The sand they have put in the box already does not stick together well or make a lot of shapes, and people are starting to look at what the rest of the playground offers. It does not take a lot to introduce flashes of light, or something in deep space which "runs away" as you get close (even glimpses help!)
This having been said, I'm off to look for meta-alloys in the Merope sphere ("common in a certain area in space", so aside from the human bubble, what other areas are known, and why would they introduce a new area in space without something happening with the UA mystery?
