why even offer the mission if its impossible would be a slightly better question I feel , which makes me feel the devs have either tweaked it too far or the system which governs them is broken. either way something needs to be changed I would think.

So... are smuggling missions still good for ranking up, not too bothered about the credits, just want to find a good spot to smuggle for rank, is robigo still good for fed ranking, and where's best to smuggle for empire rep.

Or there is something wrong with your decision to take a mission when you knew you wouldn't succeed. Maybe I am just defending the system because of schadenfreude. Learning what you can do and what you can't do sounds like an important smugglers skill to me, so I hope they don't change it. That shouldn't happen regularly though.so youre seriously defending a system that offers missions which cant be completed regardless of ship , rank , skill etc???. killing 3 anacondas for a mission is doable with the right equipment and skill , however when the mission is a bust due to bad logic then theres inherently something wrong with the system in place.
Hello..
i am a smuggler I see this mission has a time limit.. No fear i have turned up in a python and will do the trip in 137 jumps.
dont give the mission to the people who turned up in an asp and can do the trip in 16 jumps with time to spare. give it to me because i brough the perfect ship to fail the mission in...
A smuggler
hello again.
i cant believe this stupid thing let me take missions in a python. It should have known i could namever make it in the time limit, and i should have come in the asp..
it would have been much better if i glew all the way to robigo in my python and had 0 missions to select.
i would not have complained about that even though the end result is the same..
I brought the wrong ship for the job..
A Angry smuggler
actually the results would have been the same in an asp or the python ....
1. cargo hold space requirements mean there is no space in an asp
2. even with the greater jump range its still impossible due to the time allocated
3. you will still need to stop several times to refuel
i have never ran out of time on a robigo run.
but a python is terrible for smuggling. something that takes me 1 jump in my asp takes me 8 in my python. (fastest rout)
also i only need 1 refule stop in my asp to make it back to the bubble and that does not even need to be a full refill..
I also have not seen a mission needing more than 100T of anything from robigo (although i guess it could be possible)
but i usually leave robigo with empty cargo space even after lowering the cargo from 112t to 104t and then to where i am now at 100t..
i wouldnt even contemplate taking a python to robigo. it just is not designed for the job at all.
Cargo should be confiscated in the station, and a fine, if you are caught smuggling. It is ridiculous to imagine that Customs would simply fine a person on discovering illegal items, they would confiscate the cargo, too. Another pathetic loophole in Elite 'Dangerous' - there;s nothing dangerous about it. Usually you can sell the cargo and pay the fine with the smuggled goods that have been sold - meaning no real loss at all. Pathetic.
I agree and would like to add that I want to be chased by Jabba across the galaxy when I fail a mission.Cargo should be confiscated in the station, and a fine, if you are caught smuggling. So you know exactly how long every ship in the game would take to do the trip and yet you accepted the missions. Still sounds like a bad smuggler to me.
Just out of curiosity, what was the time requirement?
So what was the time requirement?not every ship , just the ones which meet the smuggler mission requirements (cargo space , Jump range , Fuel requirements).
If that was true wouldn't I also be saying smuggling is broken?
So what was the time requirement?
