All round great guy: check (personal experience - I roadied for Motorhead in the '80s, around the same time I was playing the original Elite. He was a gadget-freak even back then but although we talked about it I never got to show him the game)

Make the place a ground station on a metal-rich rocky planet. And make it LOUD. The place for those for whom sticking their head in the bass bin is "a subtle increase in sound quality"

I need a ship with a chrome skin to christen the "Silver Machine" now.

I did that once.... according to reports I spent the rest of the week wandering around my home town with a glazed expression on my face.
That was the ace of spades tour I think, or the one just after, its all just a blur, Saw hawkwind that year too... only 1 in the place not smoking dope and still came out higher than a hippy after a 3 day festival.

Lemmy one of the last origional "Give a .... " rock and roll mega stars. Even my mum knows who lemmy was and she is 80. Phil "animal" Taylor who invented the double base drum , rest in peace Filthy , and the man who every rock metal band member looked up to. The man who stuck one finger up to the world and it's noncence who just wanted to play what he liked and never compromised . The man who was nice to everyone he met and always had time for a wiskey at the bar with fans . The man who I was lucky enough to meet in a bar in Soho at a fruit machine who bought a star struck teenager a pint . Who took the time to chat .

The man was a legend and a nice guy to boot. Theres not many left now, some of us who play would like a place that might mean nothing to some and wouldnt even make the conection but to us it would be nice . I agree you can go overboard with nameing in game but surely there is room for icons of our era. If Lemmy is not a true Icon of our century and one of lifes free spirits well Im lost for who is.

My Motorhead T shirt will be on all week and I dont care how dirty it gets . Nice one Lemmy turn the volume up where ever you are.

Pretty crappy to move this to the off-topic section, one of the pillars of British space rock who smiled like a delighted kid playing ED on a DK2. Normally the mods do an excellent job, but this was a bad call. The man deserves a pirate outpost!

We are talking about naming something in the game; it should not be killed off as "off topic".

In the same way astronomy threads saying 'when will FD put <recent discovery> in the game?' are moved to the astronomy section.

We need to make more room for really good threads like "This game sucks and has no content and needs hours of boring voice acting and Frontier is a scam," I guess. I was going to brave badgering my ex for those pics of Lemmy playing ED to post but if it's going to be quarantined in off topic, eh - I'll avoid the potential arguments that may ensue!

Apologies for getting touchy, I've been a bit sentimental.
