Been thinking about these Barnicles, I guess they need to feed on something... if we know what, if might make it easier to select planets to search...

I'm thinking high metal content planets.... but not found any recently....

That is what i am thinking.
These are the very rare and undisclosed rare materials( materials on the Wiki that have no rareness rating).

VERY RARE
Polonium
Yttrium
Zirconium

UNKNOWN RARITY
Antimony
Ruthenium
Tellurium

I think one or more of these my be what we are looking for.

Was about 50ly outside the bubble toward where I thought Miacke might be (by another name obviously). Dropped into a distress call since I hadn't been to one in a while, thinking there might be something interesting there. Ship spawns right in front of me, I crash into it, destroys my shields, he blasts me to 29% hull and blows my cockpit before I can jump. Finally make it to less than 1 Ls from a base, 1 minute of oxygen left, I get interdicted. Submit, supercruise, finally into the base with 3 seconds of oxygen left. Lesson learned: distress calls suck! never doing that again.

Anybody knows of deep and dark craters or canyons in the Merope/Maia area? Would like to check them out if there are any... Of the kind where no lights come in, not even the ambient daylight found on the dark side of planets...

If you want any materials, see the spreadsheet link in my signature

That is impresive work.

I'm personally very interested in the effect of doing advanced synthesis with an UA in the hold of the SRV. If one of the reactions could slow down or permanently stop UA damage, it would be briliant.

Don't know if this was discussed before: At some point DB showed a video of landing in a crater where there was a kind if mist. I don't have the link.
I was just wondering if anyone has bee. To such craters with fog?

Did they say in the video what the fog was made of? Could it be those are microenvironments where barnacles grow?

I'm thinking metal fog that is raw material for the barnacles to build their meta-alloy 'shell'...

Went out to the Oochost region and found my very first deep space TEA canister.

Also, downed satellites.

Tomorrow I'll head to the two Oochost ae-o systems that are relatively close to each other.

If I actually find something there, I'll probably need another break from ED...

Foggy craters are very common. I've found dozens of them, and some were very foggy as you could not see the sky above. But no Barnacles inside.
That does not mean that I've not thought that myself and I'm still thinking that a foggy crater could be a good place to find some Barnacles ;)
You can usually spot them even from OC, and see some kind of haze over the horizon of the Planet.

About DB video, it was a wordless video. Check his channel on YT, you'll find it:

"volatiles forming as a mist in a deep crater on a cold, rocky, uninhabited world."

And, casually, there is an hot blue/greenish star in the Background... Ok, I'll give it another try next night...

I have a little Yttrium and a little Zirconium, I think I found them in the Maia system (not sure though, I'm not keeping track)

Did you go to OOCHOST AE-O B53-O? I think that is the closest of them, at about 1300 ly from Sol.

Hello CMDRs!
Last night I scooped an UA and dropped it in the darkest Canyon, on the darkest side of a pretty nice moon of the UA shell.
You should really try it yourself, the UA glowing in the dark is something to see for sure: its green and purple halos light up all the surroundings in a very peculiar way.

Moreover I had a final confirmation to the UA morseing the planet's name, and not decaying, after being dropped by my SRV.
If dropped from my ship, it started dacaying and morseing my ship's drawing.

I then killed it with my SRV repeater until its scream echoed in the night.

Here's the amazing video, for your amusement: UA by night.

About the meta-alloys mission, mine is still active: I'm still going up'n down the Galaxy, with or without UA, but no Barnacle POI so far. :(

I don't know how long it's been since Eddy dropped his UA's off at Robigo Mines, Robigo, but the station was still up and running last night. Might be of interest.
