New (and experienced) players: "A time for giving" Community Goal! Now with extra tea and biscuits :)

Not ingame currently, but anyone knows what the next tier ship will be that we can unlock for new players?
Since they seem to be going by price my guess is the viper as the imperial eagle requires faction to get normally. However if they are just going by price and ignoring faction requirements then it'll be the Imperial Eagle.

Well, it went from an Eagle to a Hauler and then to an Adder. So it goes straight up the list based on price.

So next is either the Imperial eagle or the Viper MK III.

It has 7 tiers, correct?

Last tier might be a Viper MK IV or a DBS. Depending on whether the Imperial Eagle is taken into account. That would be quite a boost to new players. :)

Hi, new guy here, I was hoping to take advantage of the free ship but still a bit unclear on exactly on how to ensure receiving it.

I'm not seeing a flight log, so how do I tell I'm within the time period? Also, do I need to fly to Santa Muerte and join the CG?

Thanks!

The free ship is not available yet. It will likely be put into the game in a patch following the completion of the community goal event. So probably in 1-3 weeks. It will be granted to new players when they hit the 3 hour mark. If you want to check your play time, go to your right panel menu under Status, and scroll over to Statistics and look in the Exploration section for "Approximate time played."

Under your stats tab, in exploration, right at the bottom is an approximate game time. I'd guess if that's between 3-10 hours you'd qualify. And you don't have to do anything, just sit back and relax. You could move a few tons for easy money though.

Thank you, I completely missed that section of the UI.

Sitting at just over 6H.

The shame of it is I have this week off and could burn through that remaining time tonight alone.

Tbh, you can make the money to buy one of those starter ships pretty easily. Actually, contributing to the CG would do that. So, if you'd prefer to play, just play.

Don't let this CG stop you from playing. Come join the fun (get there quick in a hauler with a rated fsd)! Just participating in the CG will net you 500k (which is probably more than the free ship is worth). It's lots of fun and there are a lot of people around Frost dock filling up new players.

The Gathering has also opened their teamspeak server for the duration of this CG where you could meet others (check the startpost... Currently empty however).

Good luck!

How to get 40t of Personal Gifts from the alloted 20t for that rare at Frost Dock in Njambalba system.

Made a video of getting 40t out of your 20t allotment for the Personal Gifts

How to get 40t of Personal Gifts from the alloted 20t for that rare at Frost Dock in Njambalba system.
1 - Make sure your ship can hold 40t
2 - Make sure you have at least a Collector Limpet Controller that can launch 1 limpet ...2 will be better
3 - Make sure to buy limpets
4 - Be aware that there is a 10 minute wait after you buy your 20t of Personal Gifts, before you can get more after droping off your 20t in space ...4.5km to 5km away from Frost Dock...out of the no fire zone
5 - Once you have waited 10 minutes, after getting your 20t of personal Gift, go ahead & leave Frost Dock.
6 - Stop no less than 4.5km away from Frost Dock...I like 5km, but that's me
7 - Select Frost Dock & request docking permission....once you have docking permision drop your 20t of Personal Gifts in space
8 - Select 1 canister of Personal Gifts floating in space...this is to help you remeber where you dropped them at
9 - Land at Frost Dock & get 20t more of Personal Gifts rares
10 - Leave Frost Dock & go baack to your collection of floating cannisters of Personal Gifts (20t)
11 - Once you get near your collection of floating cannisters of Personal Gifts (20t), unselect the them & deploy a Collector limpet
12 - Get all your collection of floating cannisters of Personal Gifts (20t) in space & hopefully end up with 40t total in your caro hold.
Note: I was only using a 1A Collector Limpet Comtroller so only 1 limpet active & in the video I managed to get my last cannister with just 5% hull integrity left...so might be better to have 2 limpets.

Auwww....This CG is really gone hurt bad.
.
My FSD is burning up, needs a cool down of an hour after every jump now.
Cargo hatch is not working any more and need to be opend and closed by hand.
Docking computer is jumping me out of the system instead of getting me on the landing pad.
And every 5 or 6 minutes I need to give the right hand panel a punsh to keep the limpit controller going.
.
I will need to buy a new Python after this CG and you just come up with 50 million bonus, that's not even gone pay for the power plant, let alone for a new Python.
.
Thanks FD, you guys done a great job..........not.

i was quick enough to have over 60% integrity with this yesterday so I tried to pick up 60 tonnes. For some reason 20 of the 40 tonnes I dropped blew up when I jettisoned them- perhaps the game can't handle more than 20 floating in space at a time?

On behalf of The Gathering I thank everyone for loads of fun and a great gift to new players!

We'll be locking the Teamspeak server again soon.

Best wishes for 2016!

So this is probably a stupid noob question... but I think it stands to reason that I'd be a stupid noob anyway. ;) Does anybody know how I get/find/etc my new ship, or how to check my play time to see if I was actually eligible? Currently scared to log in. ;)

Crikey.

Viper Mk IV is actually a really nice ship.

Been using it as my main for the last week or so.

You can only have 20 canisters (of anything) in an instance...you drop anymore than that & the extra canisters (of anything) will self destruct.... it is just a fact & what Frontier team said they won't change in a live stream a while back if I recall correctly.

Not sure about the new ships, but I do know that it sometimes takes time before the community goal reward (discounted ships, new ship) is available...exact time is unknown currently

One way to check your play time is to look at your right-hand UI in your cockpit...Status -> Statistics ...then scroll all the way to the bottom...I believe it is the second statistic up from the bottom of that list. (I cannot check as I am work currently)

WEll I would have said collect it at the end point of the CG which was Clauss Port an Santa Meurte, but there is no shipyard there so nowhere to deliver your Viper to.

So I think just hold tight and maybe keep checking Galnet.
