Active Discounts thread

Hi there,

1) i'm looking for a Fer-De-Lance but there's nowhere i can't find a station selling it with a discount. I don't know how the discount works, how can i find them (i use elite roguey "where to buy" but with 50 ly limitation range, i can't find anything. I also tried with google & different forum but the post are 3/12 months old.
Try System Ix - Scully-Power Station .... the info is 2h old. It's a Li Yong-Ryu control system and should have the FDL at -15% discount.

Checked out all of the Empire-aligned systems (both controlled and exploited) in Li Yong-Rui's space, but there was no Imperial Eagle nor Imperial Cutter to be found. A couple of stations sold Clippers and Couriers though.

Headed over to Denton Patreus' space to see about that, but as it turns out, the 10% discount on Imperial ships no longer seems to work. Whilst all Imperial ships were offered in control systems, the 10% discount only seems to affect the Imperial Cutter. The Imperial Eagle, Courier and Clipper all cost their default price instead.

Use this tool to find what are you looking for. https://eddb.io/station

Yes indeed I was looking for an ieagle and it wasn't in any of the 3 systems listed earlier. Didn't think it was worth a mention as it's not exactly the most capable or bank-breaking ship in the ED fleet!

Does anybody know if Zac Hudson's Weapons discount works and if it's 10% or 20%? Thanks!

Did not check recently, because it was always broken. Back then only Control systems gave 20% while exploited only gave 10%. That way i got my complete 20% off Python and T9.
I never seen discounts on weapons working btw. I usually buy em 15% off in Yong Rui.

Here's a question I'd like to throw at you guy's?. I have previously just piloted my old ship to a discount station, sold all my upgraded components and replaced the basics with E rated stuff at the discount station. After that then I sell the ship buy my new one and upgrad whatever I can afford at that time leaving enough credits for insurance etc. Now at the moment I am thinking of buying a Python and wondered if, as I get a full refund on modules etc at all stations would it be better to sell my upgraded modules etc at my home station and sell just the basic ship at the discount shipyard. I mean that the new price eg on an A grade module at Li Yong Rui or Edmund Mahon is 15% - 20% cheaper than home, so selling the old one at my home station would gain me 15% - 20% on all upgraded modules considering I bought them at a discount to begin with. Am I correct in this if you understand what I mean?.

Unfortunately, that's not quite how module/ship prices work. Which is intentional, as otherwise people would be buying modules in discounted systems and selling 'em at a markup in a neighbouring non-discount system!

If you buy a module/ship, its price is fixed at that price - no matter where you sell it, its price will be the same. If you buy something with a discount, its resale value will also be discounted (meaning you get less for selling it), even if you sell it at a station which offers the exact same module/ship for the normal price.

The inverse is true too - if you buy a module/ship at its default price, a station which offers the exact same module/ship at a discount will still pay you the default price rather than the discounted price.

As above Takaru Minari is correct.

All objects sell relative to their purchase price. Ships sell at 90%, modules at 100% of purchase price, regardless of location.

Thanks for the replies Takaru and Alex. It was just a thought, never mind. :)

I was wondering the same about the ships themselves as I bought my Pyhton at a 15% discount. What I discovered is that the price, value and therefore insurance follows me around wherever I go. A maxed out Python is 200m plus yet I have maxed out everything and it only cost 180m. Insurance is at a lower mark as well. The benefit comes when you have to rebuy your ship :D:D

Checked the Zachary Hudson discount for weapons yesterday, they still broken.
Since i dont parcipate in powerplay i cant tell if it works when pledged to Hudson.
At the time you got 20% off on everything you didnt needed to be pledget to him.

So Alioth still has the discount?
I didn't see any discount when I went there.
D'oh, the discount's only at one station?
