Not Even A Vulture Anymore...

A lot of love for the courier on here.
I could never get away with it, I always felt it took to long to point the nose up or down. Am I doing something wrong? I switch FA on/off depending on the situation. Always loved it for the internals and engine noise!

She's a very weight sensitive little bird. You need to have A-rated thrusters, D sensors and life support, and have absolutely no whatsoever. Don't upgrade bulkheads and don't equip Hull Reinforcements. Just focus on shield tank.

A Vulture with two C3 beams can NOT take out anything, much less in 90sec. I owned a Vulture with two C3 beams and it worked well BEFORE 1.5. Now, it's insufficient to have only lasers because hulls take a LONG time to destroy. So, I changed to one C3 beam and one C3 PA. This gives much better results. To use the SCB, I merely disable the PA and continue fighting with the beam while recharging the shields. With this configuration, I can take out an Elite Python or Anaconda NPC but it still takes long than 90sec, even for the most skilled pilot. http://coriolis.io/outfit/vulture/2...5d272566.Iw18gDMQ.MwBhCYyqEYxgLDcQ?bn=Vulture

really? strange as I can fly in far quicker on manual?

I don't do video;s btw... you will have to take my word for it, and if not, so be it lol

If your gonna make boasts then back it up, are you men or tories?

There is also a large element of personal preference and suitability when equipping a ship. Not just the use you want to put it to, but also your own personal flying style and tactics. Personally i'm quite keen on giving it the old "Derrier Veloce" when I think i'm about to get my face filled in. So being able to chucker off quickly is essential.

In combat I can keep a small target in my sights if I'm flying a DBS or something, but slow-turning ships like the DBX I tend to need gimbals to do this. A better combat pilot would maybe be able to get away with Fixed on everything, but I can't. My personal tactics tend to be "boom and zoom", so biweave shields work for me but for people who like to tank it, they're just too weak.

I personally don't like having the FSD disable itself when I deploy hardpoints as it stops me escaping as the FSD needs time to boot when power is restored, so I avoid that but other people are happy with it.

There is no right-and-wrong here - set the ship up the way you like it. That's the point. There are no bad ships, just ships badly suited to the roles people put them to.

All of the hardpoint sizes have similar DPS, the biggest factor is armour penetration.

According to Coriolis, medium hard points have the same DPS as large hardpoints. It's just the large don't have the damage reduction against large ships.

Three medium has higher DPS than two large in almost every situation. The only time it doesn't is when you're tackling an Anaconda or larger with upgraded bulkheads.

Three medium gimballed pulse lasers have 9 dps , while two large gimballed pulse lasers only have 6.

DPS on paper isn't everything.
Med weapons incur unstated penalties against large ships. Small weapons incur penalties against med & lrg ships.

Try the Imperial Courier. I can't recommend her enough. She only costs about 8mill to fully A-rate, can tank with 500+ shields, has higher dps overall compared to the Vulture, has no power management issues, poses a small target...and if you get into trouble, SHE CAN RUN AWAY.

Agreed...I've parked my Asp in the garage and have been using the Courier at RES sites and for missions. It's very nimble and good at dodging those pesky asteroids.

I never lost a vulture in combat fighting a beacon or res. If I got into trouble I simply ran away was never a problem. 2 large pulse forgot the class but the 140000k ones and destroy any ship in pve. My preferred target is always fdl they pay a good bounty and die faster then any of the high end ships. The one that always gave me a scare was clipper they can stay right on your nose. Anaconda I could kill but not really worth the long fight generally unless others are attacking them. I was never fitting ocd but used ABCD modules with no problem. Never had a problem with power was over a few megs but power was easy to handle. Anaconda likes to ram also it seems. Vulture put me in my now fas in a couple days, I was making 4 million a run to hazres never timed it though. FAS is fun but nothing turns and burns like vulture in a knife fight.

I've been using a Courier for the past several days, but switched back to a Vulture today. The difference is quite significant. Against smaller targets my twin C3 pulse lasers chew through them significantly faster than the 2x pulse, 1x multicannon set-up on the Courier, and against larger ships the Vulture outstrips the Courier for damage by a fair margin, even before taking into account the fact that it can maintain fire for nearly twice as long before draining the lasers.

It's also more maneuverable on thrusters, so it can stay on target more easily, and my current C-rated bi-weave shield seems to take more punishment than the A-rated standard shield on the Courier.

My preferred target is always fdl they pay a good bounty and die faster then any of the high end ships.
Yeah, I noticed that today - the NPC FDLs seem to be really fragile once you get their shields down. It takes about the same time to chew through the hull of a FDL as an Adder.

Vulture - 2 x C3 pulse and 2 x A class Shield Booster with 1 x D Class Shield Booster and 1 x Chaff. Internally, no SCB but Military Grade Armour and pack with Hull Reinforcement. Ideal for a CZ but not so good in a Distress Call scenario. I can run at up to 121% but tend to run at up to 114% with modular prioritisation and switching on/off. I change the D class Shield Booster for a D Class KWS if Bounty Hunting.

If I get down to one ring on shields I move out 20km+ to recharge, then get back in the fray. If I lose shields, the extra armour and reinforcement enables me to wake out even if mass locked, as the Vulture is damn slow. I only ever use D Class Thrusters on a Vulture for power management reasons but I can sometimes sacrifice something else if I want to upgrade. However given the slow speed of a Vulture, extra power to Thrusters is a waste of time.

These days I use a FDL for Distress Calls and Strong Signal Sources and Haz Res, the Vulture for CZ only, a Cobra III for Smuggling (all A rated) and a D rated Python for trading short range on a regular trade route. Tried the Cobra IV and ditched it immediately. Enjoyed the Viper IV for a while but stuck with the Cobra III instead, as it suits my smuggling purpose for heat management and speed.
