1.2 UA in Convoys going round the Bubble
1.3 UA free floating inside or very close to Pleiades Nebula (HR 1172, HR 1185 and other systems: see the Wiki)
1.4 UA in the actual shell (135-150Ly from Merope, and pointing to Merope), no more in 1.3 systems.
2.0 few days ago we found there are still UA convoys out there (HIP 15609).

Thanks for that. So, in terms of the free floating ones, it seems to have expanded. (I assume the ones in convoys don't count, given that they appear to have been picked up and moved from wherever they may have been.)

I had wondered about the expansion idea recently, but didn't have any luck when I searched at about 175LY on my way to Maia (at least a week ago). At 144LY, I found the UA I mentioned at the first SSS I encountered.

BTW

More bad news for those trying to find the location of that base from the trailer.

The little nebula poking its head over the mountain range isn't the spinning top extra galactic one. Looked at the trailer frame by frame, at about frame 700 as the camera moves, the nebula pops out from behind the hill and it isn't the one we think it is from the other stills. With that gone and not really being able to determine which little nebula it actually is,,,and no other points of reference other than the general look of Bernard's Loop,,,

"It's dead Jim."

I don't understand what you have said (i'm not a english native speaker) can you screenshot it?

Continue to sell UAs in the applied research cluster of pic tok, ngalia and iapodes. Its a large group testing a triangle theory that could do with the assistance

About 155m credits will do it. Apparently distance travelled in an srv will shorten this, but nobody has any idea by how much, it isnt expected to be a big effect. I don't recommend it, but the shortcut is to go and farm the neutron fields. Head over to the exploration forums for more assistance.
Excellent thank you ! I have already visited the forums and found a neutron star field about 10k ly away I am planning the journey now and will head there soon ;) ughh but does this count as science for the team we have as well ? ;)

AhAhAhAhAh! It looks like that? :D I'm not an exploration expert AT ALL, really :D
On the contrary, I am elite in Combat, because I always liked PvP and Combat in general, before all this UA madness started, and I was doomed forever :D
So I must admit, it's an UA fault if I'm now involved in some kind of real, true exploration :D
The Unknown Artefact changed my game-play-style forever. I didn't know anything about morse as well, before this: and now someone calls me an expert about MORSE :D The true is that I've LEARNED to decode it because of the UA! ;)

So, in short, if you want to become Elite in Exploration: don't do like me! :D

That said, I don't think that the Meta-Alloys require any rank: in fact the related mission DO NOT require any rank. I know of Mostly Harmless CMDRs who accepted it.
So, if the mission requires no rank, the Meta-Alloys MUST be the same.
cought you ! Hahaha ! Deep in my heart I am an explorer ! Muahahaha ! I think I mentioned once one of my honors in this game was a 6 month journey to SAG A* ( aww here come the memories oh boy I'm gonna cry now ) and believe me ; the things I saw in that journey changed my experience with the game and how I play it now ! There are so many beautiful stars and planets and nebulae in the game ! Just so many ! I even accidentally found a super nova remnant and I checked it a while ago and all the systems I scanned there had my name on it as the first discoverer ... That journey is something I'm so proud that I accomplished lol !
Anyway , it's just a theory I want to test , in the end I know it's just nothing but I do really want the elite rank in exploration
Besides who knows maybe I could find something in deep space
anyway did we found anything new related to the meta alloys or the barnacles ?

Shame I can't rep you anymore. Awesome looking work!

Thank you ! Ever since Horizons was announced Ive been itching to map a planet ... Decided to start in Varati ... But A1 is tidally locked so I couldn't get a nice pic of full surface.. Was fun to put together tho.

this might be a clue to look for ... It seems that meta alloys can counter the UA or their toxicity .... They might even be the same material type including the barnacles ... We should search inside the plaeidese as well
however I still am on my opinion that we need tips from mr Brookes , fd or pallin to be sure

"Have you tried listening to them?"

Someone posted on the EDC facebook group about an hour ago about a strange green nebula 30k ly beyond the core that has weird sounds. It got me thinking about the planet noises in the map and if we could maybe hear aliens on any of them. Here is his description of the noises. " Bubling Alien like sounds and groaning "

Appologies if this has come up allready i went back 5 or so pages to check.

Its being checked as we speak, but it most likley a loose end.

Wow it has taken me so long to get up to date on this thread!
There is so much stuff going on, and I just thought I'd add my two cents on the whole Meta-Alloys/Barnacles mission.
I finally found it for myself! and I have gone out exploring looking for some barnacles, first to Maia just because I thought I might as well, and have now headed over to Barnard's Loop since it seemed like a big obvious waypoint you can see from most places around the human-occupied bubble.

I've seen a lot of things on here to do with trying to find Meta-Alloys/Barnacles and some of them I just wanted to comment on quickly.

1. Some people have been suggesting that perhaps they may be found in asteroid belts, and also that perhaps the UA's may in fact be the Barnacles. Based on the "Strange Alloys" mission I'd say both of these are unlikely. It is given in the "Surface Missions" section of the Bulletin Board and specifically says "Planet" as the location to find them. Since after about 300 POI's today and many more by many other people have turned up nothing from normal canisters I'd say it's reasonable to assume that finding Meta-Alloys on the surface of a planet will involve finding Barnacles. Therefore they cannot be in asteroid fields, and no one has ever found a UA on the surface of a planet before so they aren't going to be UA's. (though I do like the idea of UA's being "seeds" for Barnacles, shame theres nothing to support that yet, but it's a cool thought for sure)

2. I feel the chances of finding Barnacles or the "Temple" seen in the trailer by finding the exact location of it in the trailer are basically no existent. FD could easily construct that situation in the game engine just for the video, and from what I remember the location of the UA in the "Wings" trailer was nowhere near where they were actually found in the end (correct me if I'm wrong on that though I must admit I don't remember for certain). But you guys are still doing awesome work and if you're having fun please don't let me deter you because I'm loving the work you're putting in, top stuff!

This post is getting long so I'll end around here, but I have a plan for narrowing down the search for Meta-Materials, it'd take me a while to write now and I really need to be sleeping and got distracted writing all this but tomorrow I'll put a post together over on my thread about the mission HERE . Basically it involves looking at the variable factors in the reward given for the mission based on rank, friendliness with local factions, and distance from where the mission can be fulfilled (since those are the main variables I've noticed in all other missions). If we can filter out the rank/friendliness variables we'll be left with the locations within the bubble closest and furthest from the location of Meta-Alloys. As long as this theory holds true (questionable but possible) it could give us a general direction to direct our search towards. But I'll go into better detail and organization tomorrow. o7
