'Exceedingly rare' contradicts 'common in certain parts of space'. Surely once we find that certain part of space it should be obvious.
The barnacles are common in certain parts of space. It says nothing about how common the Meta-Alloys are.

Well, although I couldn't find anything on Ariel apart from standard POI's, I've had one of my most fun experiences here, so thank you very much Rizal for pointing out this location!
I had a real blast zipping with the Sidewinder through the canyons and swooping at full speed between ice spikes and extremely thin passages. I had completely forgotten how much fun the Sidewinder can be. It's extremely nimble, and it's small size and low risk factor allowed me to do things I had never ever done with any of my other ships.
At some points I had to even fly sideways to fit between some places, and I got some extreme adrenaline rushes flying full speed in a dark canyon in the dark side of the planet just to see appear a wall right in front of me thanks to the ship lights and have the Sidewinder react so extremely well... Scraped that wall with the belly of the ship and saw the shields spark on that one.
So much fun...
I'm going to keep a Sidewinder for these cases from now on...

Random, crazy thought, and only really half-serious - you know how we can transfer cargo from the SRV - what if we can transfer it to other things as well?
What if you can 'install' a UA into something already on a planet and it starts making Meta-Alloys?
Back to 'reality'...
Given the knowledge of a 'barnacle' scenario planet-side, that idea is total rubbish - we just need to keep plugging away scouring planets till someone gets the magic POI.
Assuming what we saw in the trailer is related to the Barnacles, there's an undeniable similarity with the markings on the UA, so I'll take a long punt and say they're definitely related somehow.
If we all just keep at it, someone will have a moment similar to when the first convoy was found - and we all know how rare they were!![]()
Just thinking, although I don't like the thought....
What if Meta-Alloys are to be found in cargo containers? As I admit I've skipped the odd tea site :/

I've been checking every one, ever since I thought about the fact that the description implies others (NPC's) have already found them. Nothing so far.
question.
You have found those mineral extractors right?
you shoot the canisters and some minerals come out, but i remember you saying was gold and "cargo stuff".
I've seen a shot of a big gold rock... tell me, was it 1 ton of gold or just materials?
Because if it was "cargo" so we know that we can get the Meta-alloys the same way and not inside a cargo pod.

they are mining fragments, which equate to 1 ton, in your case probably gold
Yes this was suggested by Dommarraa over on my thread about the mission, I haven't come across any since then but they do indeed end up as cargo, despite not being in containers. There are a few things that do tbh, Occupied Escape Pods and UA's are prime examples of that too.
Basically everything is suspect until we find some Meta-Alloys and prove what they look like! TRUST NOTHING!
I keep meaning to write a sticky note for that. I know I will forget when it happens to me (again)
Has anyone found Tungsten yet?
I was just saying that it don't need to be inside a cargopod. it can be "mined" from a Barnacle shell(is it a barnicle?).
Has anyone found Tungsten yet?
Check my Sig (Look in the Worlds tab Column AN). I normally throw it away.Has anyone found Tungsten yet?
