Rift Higher Price than Expected? $600

700 euros + shipping for Europe seems rather like a bad joke or mistake than serious offer. Well, my country even isn't listed there anyway, so let's see after few months...

Ye's are all mad. This is a serious piece of kit, first generation consumer VR, polished and ready to go. Only an extra 100 quid from what was expected isnt too bad imo lads. :)

What will you do if the Vive is around 700 quid minus post and packaging on release?

By the way the waiting list is already at April! :O

I will be getting neither until the price comes down. I just spent £400 on a new GPU, I'm not gonna stump up another £500+ for a VR unit.
I will see what Razer, HTC and the others bring out and the costs. Also it may not work with ED and as that is the only game I play these days, really not worth the risk.

While I could afford it the high price + vat + shipping + doesn't yet work with ED = putting off buying it for now.

Got a DK2 anyway; wonder how much they will go for now? I could even see the resale price going up ;)

Kickstarter DK1 backers got an absolute deal! At £400 I would have preordered, now I'm going to wait to see what Vive is going to cost as that'll include the touch controllers.

Was very surprised with that price but went ahead anyway. I missed out on the DK2 pre-order last time and spent months on the waiting list before I finally got one so I didn't want to make the same mistake again this time. Let's hope the money is worth it! After all, up until very recently, people were still buying used DK2 for $600+ so it's not the end of the world.

If I can get $600 for my used DK2, then that at least will pay for the Rift, but something tells me I would need to find a fool who doesn't know about the Rift being in pre-order to pull that off. :)

Some how i doubt it is subsidised, no matter what they say.

well it might not be but, in a sense (and im odd) i trust in gabe more than I trust in mark :p

And for 850 USD I can get so much more than.. a VR headset, if it was 399 like expected as that would be in the price range of the DK2 like they claimed i'd buy it, because yay stuff :D but 850! Even I have to say no to that price :\

Well they need to somehow compensate for their loss of giving "free" units to their DK1 backers. I don't think that something truly free exists anymore in this world ruled by money...

So dissapointed, skipping the CV1.

Putting that into context that way....

Approx 171 pints of Sharpe's Atlantic in my local.....

I placed an order (UK). It ships in April.
Since they don't deduct the money from your credit card until it shipped, I figured I'd get in the queue. If the Vive is better I'll cancel and nothing lost.

well like someone said the vive might cost the same, but even if only 100 less i'd rather get that, still damned because I would love to get seasick. but for 900 I can get seasick on the actuall sea instead xP

and now instead i have to save money... humbug!

Wonder if you get a discount if you have to log into your Facebook account every time you switch the unit on? Definite non-purchase for me at that price, especially considering the marginal increase in resolution. Happy to wait a couple of years.

$679.32 shipped to California, to arrive in April. Now I just need a nice 6DOF motion seat and an omni treadmill.

With shipping and extortion fees (UPS) the Can price is over 1K.

I'll keep the DK2 thanks much and wait and see what else comes down the pipe. With the HTC Vive forecast to be even more expensive, that PSVR might actually be the breakaway tool for VR after all.

Come on FD, get that port to the PS4 done already! :)

700€? No, thanks... Looks like my faithful DK2 stays with me until the end of it's Time! Now I love it even more! Honestly, I don't think they produce it for more than 599$, Liars...
