btw what exactly being tweaked in the graphicsconfiguration.xml?
also which file to edit if I want to tweak the reshade/horizon detail fx? and is there a guide for this tweaking?
also apparently the graphicsconfiguration.xml file make some difference to the overall graphics enhancement somehow, so if you don't use it the gfx look different and not as pronounced as what was advertised in the 1st post![]()
well I still need some clarification, which file exactly do I need to tweak (not counting the graphicsconfig)??? because I was assuming that the one is the reshade.fx file in the main folder...? can you please direct me to the correct file?Yes the graphicsconfiguration.xml does have some tweaks to it, mainly to the galaxy background and nebula's. And of course the HUD colouring. You can of course use the default file if you prefer the vanilla look of the backgrounds. The main stuff happens however in the SweetFX file located in the reshade folder. Playing with those values can and will change the whole preset quite dramatically. I explained how to do this earlier on in the thread![]()
Yes, most of them are in SweetFX.cfg file. (located in the reshade folder)
At the top of each section next to the effect name there is a "0" for off or "1" for on. See highlighted "0" below.
////-------------//
///**EXPLOSION**///
//-------------////
#define USE_EXPLOSION 0 //[Explosion] //-Explosion : Scatters the pixels, making the image look fuzzy.
//>Explosion settings<\\
#define Explosion_Radius 2.0 //[0.2:100.0] //-Amount of effect you want.
#define Explosion_TimeOut 0 //[0:100000] //-Defined Toggle Key will activate the shader until time (in ms) runs out. "0" deactivates the timeout feature.
#define Explosion_ToggleKey RFX_ToggleKey //[undef] //-
You can then change the amount each setting has using the #define values, edit the value to a value between the range. So radius for example here is set at 2.0 which is between 0.2 and 100.0. Changing these values will have no effect if the main on/off value is set to off.
If you have ED running and the SweetFX.txt file open in notepad, you can make changes and each time you click save the whole reshade preset will reload with that setting added so can see straight away the effect. Hope that makes sense![]()

I haven't changed anything other than HUD but it seem that your reshade is only sporadically working here, atm it's crashing on startup horizons logo... I can't exactly know why... I'm on win 7 64 though...See above, do not change anything in reshade.fx or you will break it![]()
Hi!
I have some problem with this. It starts, but does not log on. But if I delete it, it works. But I don't now why?! :/

Hello good people and some quick advice please.....
Haven't researched much since my failed and frustrating attempt to run sweet effects on Windows 8.1. I discovered it was compatible with Windows 7, but with Windows 8.1 you had to download extra programs to work around and enable sweet effects .
Does it run on Windows 10 straight away now ?
so it turns out that I'm having exactly this same problem if I launched the game from elitedangerous64.exe and CTD if I used the launcher!
hmmmm...
update, it may have something to do with msi afterburner osd
well yes as soon as I turned off the riva turner statistic server osd your reshade worked... right now I'm enabling it again with the option to enable custom direct3d setting on the rtss but somehow the osd itself is not shown on the game, however I'm not experiencing crashing atm!Yes running on Win 10 fine here, I too had to use ReadeonPro to get it to work on win 8.1
Interesting, a number of people in this thread have had issues with it running on windows 7, but nobody has mentioned the msi afterburner before, if you find a solution it would be good of you to post the details![]()
I play in VR and have tried your settings which i think are very good for VR especially the following;~_
The background - I use lumarsharpen too but your stars are like bright pins, looks exceedingly good in VR well done.
I quite like your GUI colours which again, are very good for VR and a welcome alternative to the greens we normally have to use. A couple of red issues, but there isnt too much for it to be annoying. Shame the docking bay notification is in red as sometimes difficult to make out in VR.
For some reason though your settings have a massive drag on my FPS, not thus far worked out which setting it is that is affecting it so have reloaded my settings back in and will gradually work out the cause. I can normally run at 2546x1446 in VR but not with yours without judder. Any idea what this could be? and also, what is the setting that affects the sharpness of the background stars so much?
thanks again, great job
If you want to tweak Malek's settings and get better performance I suggest using filmicpass in sweetfx. You can alter the visuals nicely with that setting alone. I am using only filmicpass, vibrance and lumasharpen. Worth a try if you want to increase your framerates.
Will have to have play with that setting again, didnt much like it on when i started messing about with my preset but your screens are looking good! gj
which file exactly did you tweak at?I can post my filmicpass setting but I am back on my comp on thursday though. This is very nice thread.
just discovered this thread. i tried it and it seems to not work in windows 8.1

also number of rocks and surface details....hopefully someone figures out how to ramp up the detailsYes the graphicsconfiguration.xml does have some tweaks to it, mainly to the galaxy background and nebula's.
