I think there's way to much sharpening going on in some of the screenshots, it makes the edges look very grainy and not blended properly.
Anyway, here's a tweak I use for higher res nebula (and more nebula visible at once)
It makes quite a huge difference to how good they look. I've not tested it close up to a nebula yet, but it seems to make no noticeable difference to performance for me so far.
