As a 100% solo player, why do I want Horizons?

I'll be the first to admit, I'm very sensitive when games that technically have solo play try to force me into group play. No, I don't want multiplayer, and no I'm not going to like it if I'll just try your version of it.

Anyway.

Looking at the website info Horizons and seasons, I see a lot of stuff geared towards multiplayer...wings...multicrew ships...etc.

So what is new for me? What will I be "locked out of" as a soloer?

I've tried reading the info on the official site...but lets be honest, the presentation of that info is terribad.

I'm not a hater or a troll...I want to want it.

Open player here

I have fun just tooling around with the SRV on various G-level planets. Hell, when horizons launched I spend nearly half a week by myself just climbing different mountains and seeing if I could jump that canyon that totally doesn't look that big
it totally was that big
I can't speak for future content, but I've been having a blast with just that part alone :D

If you like exploring (flying around planets and driving srv) then you may enjoy horizons as currently thats really all thats been released for it apart from some minor crafting , there doesnt seem to be much in the way of content for the solo player by looking at the roadmap but FD could possibly have a surprise or 2 up their collective sleeves.

If you dont like exploring and the roadmap for 2.0 doesnt have you excited then you probably be happier to wait.

I play in open but very rarely team or wing up with other players, although it is great to say hi every now and then. I bought horizons at Beta and had a bit of fun with it but once it was released to the full game didn't really do much with it. I've gone off exploring now and wow, it really does add a whole new dimension to the game. I loved exploring anyway and if you're not into that then, in my opinion, horizons at the moment doesn't offer too much that's different. But if you want some more immersion and just some general fun tearing up planets in a SRV then it's great. For example:

Plus, if it's not enough for you now, don't forget, it's a whole year of add ons and extras. Worth it in my opinion, even if it's not too deep at the moment.

1) planetary landing. flying around planets. driving around planets. if you like scenery, this is great.

2) new surface missions. attacks on planet bases, searching for salvage on surfaces etc.

Stick to the base game and buy Horizons Xmas 2016 when its a tenner. Or wait till 3.0 comes out, pay £39.99 and get both updates for one price.

They've done it with Horizons, they'll do it again no doubt.

3.0:
ELITE Horizons: The Thargoid Invasion? (But only on planets with no atmosphere)

There are planetary landings, the exploration of those planets, the discovery of various types of outposts and different activities relating to those. On top of that the missions, once they get them unborked, are a great addition for anyone regardless of where they play!

Finally, I would also point out that being in solo mode does not preclude you from helping out people that are in group. You have just as much influence on a system, faction, and the BGS as any other player. You have the ability to join any group in the game and contribute just as much as anyone else flying elsewhere within the game.

you'll get planetary landings, surface bases and surface missions.

You'll also be supporting FD, if you care about that.

As goemon said, there is little more than landing and driving ATM. You also can find materials on the surface and use it to synthesize various "potions" for your ship (ammo w\added damage, increased range for the nex jump, refill AFMUs). The missions aren't that good.
If you don't own it yet, I would advise to wait until the next sale.

Oh yeah, did forget to mention, I'm on a mission to gather rare materials which can increase my jump range for when I get to the edge of the galaxy. Not finding too many so far but having am awesome time exploring planets while trying to find them. Plus, I'm becoming a killer SRV driver in all kinds of gravity levels!

InB4 the man with 60 Billion Double Credits on his head.

It broadens your... Wait for it..... Horizons
no longer must you suicide by sidewinder into a station, you may now boost headlong into a crater or go all Michael Bay in an SRV.
seriously though I understand that perspective, even still there will be a lot to do in solo. Hopefully they add NPC crew and wingmates for that concern.

Yup landing on planets is interesting, drive around abit, then take off, again:)
Can you do it? You need Horizons;P
Abit like 1st time you dock at a station.

I play in open. But today i met first time other CMDR on planet. Randomly middle of nowhere on lifeless rock (inside the bubble) i saw other SRV. Awkward situation.... So most stuff you do on planets is solo if you don´t play with friends.

This is why I'm considering buying Horizons as a solo/pve player. Right now without Horizons the available missions feel a little slim. However, I'm not sure I want to pay full price for a few more mission options.
