2. On the subject of subsurface activity... I wonder if volcanic activity may be a key item here.. for some reason I can't shake it but not the lava types but the Geyser planets may be important. There are a lot of living things that live off of geothermal vents and geysers right here on earth, especially in some of the most inhospitable climates like the arctic circle.. perhaps this warrants further study. .

Right on my thought lines too.
Been exploring the volcanism of Pleiades planets, not all scanned yet.
Been looking for features of magma or geysers.
Some good data collected so far.hopefully will be able to refine a better location to search afterwards.

Anyone found a misty crater in or near Pleiades? Like the zooming out from misty crater preview video from Nov
I'm curious to gather scan data on a similar planet with misty craters
Back tonight to continue mapping geological data.

Question? Has anyone flown their ship into the blackhole in MAIA while having a UA in the cargo hold? Are they a key to having the ship travel to another dimension?
I have read that the UA transmit a code of the ship carrying it or near it. Maybe it allows you to travel thru the black hole into witch space.

Yes. Nothing happens, apart from hitting the exclusion zone. I even dropped an UA past it, with a cargo hatch trick. No way.

AND

The UA was already flown into Merope Star, prolonging Ships's life with Heat Sinks, until Ship destruction.

I'll ad a new FAQ section to the FP soon.

Loving the suicide missions!

I think some time and effort should also be put into the general location of the barnacles. WHY are they only found in nebulae? What specific conditions exist in nebulae that might give us further clues to their location within those nebulae?

Anybody in merope 1b ?
i just approached this poi and got killed by turrets coords in picture not sure if persistant. but unusual lights and got me rather quickly for just basic turrets.and yes i am elite before you ask.View attachment 94126

I've seen those turrets before. They can actually be quite nasty pieces of work. I barely escaped with 59% hull in my Asp with full 5A shields and had to pick them off at a distance.

Damned site only had bauxite and gallite too. Less well defended sites had gold! :p

Two things I noticed while visiting the moons in Merope. Two of them are not tidally locked, Merope 1B and 5B. The rest are and the pretty looking ones aren't even landable. So...

Merope 5B tho seems to be the only special moon in the system who has a "negative" orbital period which must mean that it's orbiting the opposite way then the rest of the planets and moons in the system, it's also orbiting a Y Dwarf...well I'm going down now to 5B to survey the landscape. Wish me luck CMDR's.

Over and out.

Was your test prior to 1.5/2.0? Were you playing Horizons?

If ingame rating would account for anything, rather than reflect grinding,
I'd be scared.

You are within the center of a POI (blue reticule),
it is very unlikely there is any form of persistance to this guarded post.
Better grab Point Defense for fighting them.

Yes, doesn't work

Hi there. CMDR Mike Mart here. I've just summed myself up to the forum and the Barnacles search. I must be lucky cause I've found an UA but I have no idea what I should do with it....

No, not lucky. That's pretty normal. Go look for a barnacle in the Pleiades now (no, you don't need to take the UA with you).

Over and out.

I'm thinking the planet in question isn't native to the system either. I did spend a good deal of time on 5B yesterday myself to no avail, but keep at it. God knows I missed 99.99% of it.

This is true. I'm quite sure all large barnacles are permanent location.

Imagine the reaction if someone found one and posted the location here only for it to be gone when other commanders went there. :)

Imagine the irritation of having adult, sessile barnacles "move" due to RNG.
I think alike, the name was picked for a reason.
Sessile = fixed
barnacle = shape
Tide = nebula or maybe sun-storms?

I think the barnacles could very well be situated at the equator of planets, due to the lower powered field
of magnetism there.
The poles usually are highly "shielded" the equator is not, maybe that is something to keep an eye out for.

Maybe because the Thargoids naturally live in Witchspace and their natural way in and out of witchspace is via a blackhole (really reaching here).

So is the school of thought is now that it's possible for a barnacle to exist without the blue POI reference?

Wouldn't that require a "black hole" to be altered momentarily to a "white hole",
in order to allow safe travels, which could be read as an energy spike?
